Chapter 48 - The Third Lab's leader

As long as Casper got out of the nursery, two Ridires waiting for him on the door's sides started to tag along with him through that room.

One of them lent to him some clothes and a pair of shoes. They were gray, very plain-looking, and seemed to have nothing in special to differ them from normal clothes. However, they seemed to fit Casper perfectly, which was kind of creepy and comfortable as well.

"I wonder who took the measurements from my body…? I hope not these guys. At least, that cute nurse."

He went to one of the plenty of change rooms that were there. The warriors stood next to the door, with guns in hand.

Casper made sure that none of them were peeking inside the room. He turned his back to the curtains just to make sure that they would not see anything.

He spat something in his hand: a detonator. That thing was getting in his way while he talked. It had about the same size as his tongue, which turns it into a nearly impossible mission to hide it on his mouth.

He thought that swallow that detonator would be more practical, but he was not sure if he would get a chance to throw up that thing later.

"I am glad that I didn't swallow it while unconscious in that capsule."

He, then, changed himself into his new clothes. The pants did not have pockets, so he could not hide the detonator there. Because of it, he needed to kept it in his underwear.

"No comments about it… I am in a survival situation here." He told to himself.

After a while, he left the change room. The Ridires looked to him as if they suspected that he was doing something inside there to have taken so long.

One of them looked inside the room, but as he noticed nothing, he just gave a signal to his friend and they ignored that matter.

"Now that you are finished, come with us." The Ridire said, walking next to him and pressing a pistol on his back, to make him walk faster and be obedient.

The other stayed behind. It was a clever decision since, if Casper tried to do something, it would be twice as difficult to get the two of them.

"Warriors filled with fury, strength, bravery… and even intelligence… That's the worst combination. That's why the Vikings perished before getting an opportunity to keep advancing. The world was not prepared for it."

Casper had discarded the option to react by that point. He did not have any idea where he was, nor a notion of how cornered he was.

Start a commotion there would be useless and could cost his life. He noticed a time ago that those people were not so subordinated to the Jarls, and if they needed to kill him, they would.

Walking through that part of the Third Lab complex, Casper could not grasp anything in his memory, which meant that he never passed there.

It was an exclusive and non-registered part of that local.

"Thinking of it… I remember seeing an elevator back then, right? It was not drawn in the plants of this local, which means that I am even more deeply into this place… That's bad news for sure…"

Being deeper than he was before meant that it would be twice as hard to go to the surface again.

"In the plants, they specified that the lower levels nearly reached the floor below the one that the laboratory was… It means that this level is almost there. Maybe… Just a half a kilometer or so…"

The ground of the floors was incredibly thick, that's why a lot of constructions could be made inside there without the fear of a floor's ground collapsing.

Casper always thought how a Castle could be so smaller outside and enormous inside, but Adam had said to him that it had something to do with someone know as The Forger. Apparently, he had broken a concept of physics that said that two objects cannot occupy the same space or something.

Casper had his thoughts interrupted after the warriors stopped in front of someone. It has been a while since they were walking, and Casper thought that they possibly arrived at the local they wanted to bring him.

However, they had ceased to walk when that person stepped in front of them. Casper had not even looked to the guy who was standing facing him to feel the tension in the air.

He stared at Freygar's eyes. The Aesir was already staring back.

The warriors kept an eye on Casper, not knowing exactly what to do in that situation.

Casper gave a step or two towards him but got stopped when the Ridire next to him pressed the pistol in his waist.

"Don't even try it, White warrior." He said, in a threatening voice.

Behind Freygar, another person appeared.

It was a female, with pink and white hair, also wearing the uniform of the Aesirs.

"Hey, Frey-G, you can't get in the way now, y'know?" She had a tiny and annoying voice and seemed to be the energetic and provocative type.

Her body was around 160 cm tall. And Casper had a feeling that her cuteness was just for show.

"Yeah, I know, Brenna. Let's go." He said in his usual composed tone, then ignored Casper, passing by him.

"How many times do I need to meet this guy again today!?" Casper thought, in a bad mood.

Every time he met Freygar, he remembered that bitter taste of dissatisfaction that he had at the end of their fight.

Finally, he and the Ridires arrived at a double-door. The warriors positioned themselves next to it and aimed their weapons at him, signaling him to enter there.

He got pretty confused as to why they brought him to another room.

Entering there, he could see anything except for a square metallic table and a chair on each side of it, both unoccupied.

The warriors said to him to take a sit there and put both hands on the table, and so he did.

The exact moment he sat, a metallic thing looking like a seat belt, get out of somewhere and pinned his waist against the chair. The same occurred with his wrists.

Casper tried to free himself from those things, but they were resistant like handcuffs.

"Hey! What's going on? Hey, you two!" It did not matter how many times Casper called for them, they continued waiting next to the door quietly.

One of them clicked his tongue at some point and closed the door, annoyed by Casper's calls.

After a while, the soldier decided to stop to fight against it and just be quiet, waiting for what would happen next. Maintain his cool in situations like this was the best way to go.

However, anyone would be even slightly restless faced with such trouble, where you were completely helpless and at the mercy of someone else.

No matter how much Casper thought about it, he was not able to find a way out of that problem. Then, he kept going with the flow, until an opening appeared.

Suddenly, the door of that room opened with a loud sound.

Someone started to walk through the room calmy. Yet, they did not let Casper see them for a good time. They walked with loud, yet calm steps. Whenever Casper wondered if they stopped to walk, they did another step, then another… Then… another.

It was a painful experience to have someone that you do not know, walking behind you at such a slow pace, as if he was studying you intently.

Casper felt that all his body shivered at that moment. He tried to take a look behind him, but his body was unable to turn completely.

"Keep calm, soldier… Keep calm. If they were intending to kill you, they would have done it in the exact moment they got you after that fight." Casper took a deep breath, very slowly, hearing his heartbeats, and then expiring heavily. He felt that his head was lighter than before.

The person walking behind him finally finished circling Casper, and then walked towards another available chair, taking a sit.

She was a woman, wearing a lab coat and high heels. She was wearing the Noble mask of the Jarls. Behind that mask, Casper saw dark brown eyes, like chocolate. She had bothered eyes, almost sleepy, but surely cunning.

She sat in the chair elegantly, crossing her legs and putting a black cloth and her hands together on top of the table. She used black gloves, which stood out with her pale skin and blond hair.

"It's nice to meet you, Casper." She said, in a tone of voice and way of speaking that Casper would expect from an experienced teacher of a university.

"I know you are going through a lot of things now, and that this situation can be particularly bad… But, would you mind answering some questions of my interest?"

Casper saw that her eyes narrowed as she inclined herself slightly on top of the table. He knew that he had no other choice.

"Yes…"

"Splendid!" She exclaimed. "My name is Catrina. I am a renowned scientist Jarl… And the one in charged to take care of all the Third Laboratory. It's a pleasure to talk with you."
