Chapter 43 - Empathy

"So, you are telling me to brew them Calming Tea since you frightened their spirits too much? I have to tell you once more that my garden is no more ever since I was attacked. I only have a few Ashwagandha left.

It is not easy to grow herbs them here you know. It is not like we have a druid in our team since they are very secretive nowadays. The real druids not the fake ones of course. I remember that you were a druid in the past right before you got the moniker of The Morrigan, right?" Baba asked.

"If you want the plant to mutate into a monster then I am all for it. I have not fully mastered controlling my raging powers and you want me to use them on plants. Well, I could go for some practice though." Adrian stated as he thought about practicing on plants.

"We do not need monster plants again. The last time that happened the world almost got infected with a swarm of fruit bats and not the animal kind." Baba stated as she brewed the potion or rather the tea.

"You know, this is the first time that I have known of ability holders or Deviants that you call them that are emotionally scarred. Back then, might means right which is why the ones oppressed were usually normal people. Who would have thought that after a few thousand years that situation will reverse itself?" Adrian stated.

"I know and who would have thought that I would order the person that taught me about magic. Now go along deary and deliver the tea and snacks." Baba stated as she handed a trolley to Adrian that has the tea and snacks.

Adrian remembered all of the fear that he felt from all of them. Two of them feared having their powers go out of control while one fears getting abandoned. The most peculiar is the one who fears losing himself or rather his humanity.

"I thought it was just Esme that is not entirely human, but Dustan is not fully human either. I would have learned about their origins further if they held out more, but I would have broken their minds. I should train their mentalities by interfering with their dreams.

They will need stronger minds if we are to battle evil spirits after all. I do not want them being overtaken or running away from fear. They must face it head on or else they will die horribly as evil spirits are vengeful after all." Adrian thought as he arrived back to the training room to deliver the snacks.

"Finally! I am starving already." Whiz stated as he already made a grab for the donuts present in the trolley.

Adrian poured tea for everyone and encourage them to finish all of it. The tea they are drinking is specifically designed to heal and calm the psyche that has been affected by mental attacks. Adrian just silently distributed the tea while the others drank it silently as well.

"Starting today, we will have to increase your mental fortitude which means that you guys will train with Adrian. Our opponents now are not just the Deviants but the whole supernatural community. I am giving you this task for your sake.

Evil spirits attack your very soul and mind. They play mind games and use fear to suck the life out of you. The demonic possessions or attacks that is in popular media are actually just works of evil spirits. They are much more dangerous than demons especially in this plane of existence after all." Joe stated as he briefed everyone what the training plan will be.

"Anyways, if you cannot take it then accept that you cannot proceed. Accepting a weakness or loss is not cowardly as you can only challenge greater heights if you are alive after all. We will adjust the training if it proves to much for all of you." Sofia stated before she and Joe leave the room.

When Sofia and Joe are no longer inside the room, the gazes of the five are all directed at Adrian. The one getting stared at seem to not mind as he is drinking his tea and eating his snacks like a king. He is in utter peace that all of them wonder how he stays sane.

"How do you do it?" Dustan asked.

"How do you do what?" Adrian asked further as he did not know what the subject of the question is.

"How can you look unaffected even though you felt all of our greatest fears?" Jihan asked more clearly.

Everyone then looked at Adrian expecting for an answer. Adrian looked at them first and contemplated on how to perfectly answer the question with revealing who he really is. He smiled as he is amused by the curiosity of humans that has never change even if thousand of years have passed.

"Are you like a sociopath that have no care for those around him but yourself?" Esme asked suddenly as Adrian is not immediately answering.

"Is that what you think? I think the answer should be more on what rather than how. Like for example, what made you almost immune to fear? That question is more appropriate compared to how do I do it." Adrian replied.

"Well, do not keep us hanging. What made you a sociopath?" Patricia asked blatantly but Adrian just laughed.

"I am not a sociopath. If I was then I would have left all of you trapped in your greatest fears. Here, let me show you guys what I see every day for the rest of my life ever since I awakened my powers." Adrian stated as he reached his hand out. Whiz got curious and grabbed Adrian's hand.

"Now the next person can hold Whiz' other hand until we form a chain." Adrian stated and the others followed.

"Seeing that everyone has locked hands, I shall show you what the world looks like using my eyes." Adrian stated as he activated his powers that is called Spiritual Eye.
