After Whiz dropped Adrian and Dustan in Japan, he managed to send Esme and Jihan to Egypt. Both of them posed as tourists as they need to be inconspicuous while they search for their person of contact.
The two of them are dropped in Giza as the person they need to contact is located there. Esme immediately searched for a hotel they can use for their base of operations. She only booked one room as Jihan and her are playing the role of couples in love that is on vacation.
"Did you find the shop that we will visit? The file in the envelope only told us that a souvenir shop will hold the answers t out questions. Do you really believe the Book of the Dead thing that the newcomer is talking about?" Esme stated while Jihan is activating a device that scatters an EMP that kills off any cameras that could be surveilling them right now.
"I am not one to always disregard the supernatural as our family is said to have descended from a real dragon. We are dragon people at the very least that is the legacy of my family. We believe in the supernatural not because we know but because we are." Jihan replied.
"Sheesh, you do not have to be that serious." Esme argued but Jihan did not looked pleased.
"You underestimate the supernatural world too much. You should know that the supernatural world is ten times more deadly than the scientific world. You do not know if you get cursed just by a stand of hair or piece of cloth you like to wear." Jihan stated in a serious tone so that Esme will be mindful of her surroundings.
"I am just joking to lighten up the mood." Esme stated but Jihan is not laughing.
"I am telling you this because you are denying the existence of the supernatural world. Are you really completely human?" Jihan asked because Adrian told him something when he was guiding the latter.
"Do you know of Esme's parents?" Adrian asked Jihan.
"I know that his father died when she was young, and her mother raised her. Other stuff is too personal so it would be better if it came from her. Why did you ask anyway?" Jihan stated.
"It is a bit weird for a powerful telepath to not have unlocked her mind's eye by now. You told me that she could even lift a car with her mind. Psychics that powerful should have unlocked at least the basic perception of the Mind's Eye. Is she actually not human?" Adrian muttered the last sentence, but Jihan also heard it.
Jihan looked at Esme with a rather embarrassed looked because he just said something weird. He also thinks that it is weird for Esme to not have at least the gift of sight in the supernatural realm since she is a powerful telepath. He knows this because one of his cousins is actually a telepath, but she already has the gift of sight despite only being able to bend spoons.
"You are asking me if I am human? Are you kidding me right now? Is your head screw loose or something? Who told you that! It must be that ungrateful newcomer that is replacing my job as Dustan's partner." Esme argued.
"I am just asking because the gift of sight should have been present given how powerful you are. Even I can feel the spirits of the dead and might see them if I focus greatly. You…being in the psychic category should have been able to see them since childbirth as you unlocked your powers earlier on." Jihan replied.
"Maybe ghosts are afraid of me, or I just do not like to see them which is why I cannot see them." Esme stated as she suddenly became irritated.
"Anyways, you should rest first while I scout the area first. I will contact you once I see the store we are going inside of." Jihan stated as he excused himself out of the room. Seeing that Esme needed to cooldown, he thought that it is best that he steps away now.
After Jihan left, Esme planted her face on the pillow and screamed. She screamed not because she is frustrated that Jihan asked him that he is human but because of Adrian's words when they met.
"You are a somewhat powerful telepath, yet you do not possess the Mind's Eye?" Adrian told Esme straight to her face which made her hold a grudge against her.
What Esme dislikes the most is someone telling her that she lacks something. It has always been her inferiority complex that makes her push herself to the utmost limit. She always has been the best in her studies and looks when she was still in school.
The reason she likes Dustan is not because she genuinely likes him but because she thinks that he is perfect. He looks amazing, smart, great leadership skills and powerful. She is also the only one to beat her in sparring matches.
"That damned empath. To tell me that I lack something essential. As if he encountered other psychics like me anyways." Esme thought as she headed to the bath to refresh herself. If she did not cool herself then she might just explode from anger.
What Esme did not know is that Adrian has encountered a someone like her. A psychic that cannot see the dead and that person is actually out of this world. Also, psychic powers are based on the strength of a person's soul if it is applied on humans.
While Jihan is out and about and Esme is in the hot tub soaking her irritation, certain individuals actually sensed their presence and is observing them. The groups observing them are not from the same faction and are just observing them to see if they will make contact with the other factions in the area.

"How are Esme and Jihan doing in Egypt?" Adrian asked Dustan when he woke up.
"Why are you curious?" Dustan replied with a question that irritated him a bit.
"Egypt is said to be a place where nothing is a secret. According to the files at least. Am just being curious." Adrian replied.
