Qin Shaoze put the laptop beside him on the bed as he stared into his phone screen which was blank. He leaned his back on the headboard and sighed, thinking about how many more sleepless nights he would need to endure just to finish his business here.
Before he could get lost in his own thoughts, the phone lit up and Pei Qian's number was shown on it.
A subtle smile graced his lips. But the moment he picked up the phone, he couldn't help but feel nervous with a little bit of fear mixed.
Once the call got connected, he heard Pei Qian's soft voice over the phone. She was greeting him like usual, despite them not getting in touch for fours days.
Pei Qian appeared to be fine, there wasn't a slight hint of her getting angry but Qin Shaoze could somehow perceive her mood.
She wasn't entirely fine.
