"Hahahaha, don't worry about it kid, the closest city is just a few kilometres south."
Luckily for Arthur, the older man also pointed in the direction of the city. Since he had no idea which direction south was, he was grateful that he also pointed for him.
"Thank you, that's all I really wanted, have a good day!"
Before he left, Arthur took out a spirit crystal from one of his "pockets", since he didn't want anyone knowing about his inventory for now. Before the three men could really react, he just tossed it to the leader of the three and went on his way. It took the three men a little while to realise what he had just given them.
"Wait sir, we can't just accept the-"
Before he could finish his sentence, the leader realised that Arthur had already left, and was nowhere to be seen. With a baffled look on his face, he turned to his two comrades. To think they would bump into such a rich young man whilst they were out hunting, what great luck! This would undoubtedly help out their families quite a bit.
...
Whilst the men were overjoyed and discussing with each other, Arthur had a surprised expression on his face whilst he walked. After he had given the men a spirit crystal, he had gotten a notification from the system.
[Ding! Committed an act out of goodwill.]
[Received: Points x 20]
He was a little surprised, but he finally understood the name of the system. So he could gain points by doing acts of goodwill? To Arthur, this seemed a bit too good to be true. All he had to do was be a nice person and he would be rewarded? Wasn't one of the biggest problems in his previous life that he helped people out only to receive nothing in return? One of his biggest weaknesses had suddenly become a strength, how could he not feel exhilarated?
The only question that remained now was what he could use these points for.
"System, what can I use points for?"
[Points are a currency used in the system shop, and they can be gained through doing acts the system considers goodwill or by completing quests. The amount depends on several different factors, however any act of goodwill can not be taken back, or the host will lose the privilege of the system.]
To Arthur, these rules seemed reasonable enough. If the last rule didn't exist, he could just give stuff out to people, and then take it back after getting his points. Since he already had 70 points to spend, he opened up the shop to see if there was anything useful that he could currently buy. However, as soon as he opened up the shop, he was completely shocked. The things he could buy in the shop... were a little too ridiculous right?
The first things that showed up were all kinds of different divine grade techniques and bloodlines of divine beasts, all in the range of millions of points. There was no way he could buy something like that anytime soon, so Arthur quickly filtered out everything he couldn't afford. A tier 2 pill like the green cloud pill only cost 50 points, so Arthur could just buy another one if he wanted to. But he didn't immediately squander his points. If he could already buy such good things with just 50 points, then imagine what kind of stuff he could buy for a thousand.
He would rather let the points accumulate a little bit, and then buy something that would help out a bit more. A green cloud pill was good stuff, but the effect would be reduced if he bought another one. He might be able to go one step further in the body-refining realm, but was it truly worth it to spend almost all of his points on that? To Arthur, the answer was clear, no!
His goal, for now, was to get to the nearest city. Once there, he would find a place to stay, before getting some more information about this world. With the help of the primary knowledge card, he had some foundational knowledge about this world, but that was far from enough. He wanted to know more about where he was. The different powers that ruled this place, as well as some more general knowledge.
After nearly an hour of walking in a straight line, Arthur was finally out of the forest. He had been following a path that seemed to have been recently trampled by humans, which eventually connected to a road. Considering the direction the old man had pointed at, Arthur chose one of the two possible directions and kept walking.
As he walked, he managed to ask some riders if he was going in the right direction, to which he was given a positive answer. With a carefree attitude, Arthur enjoyed the surrounding scenery as he walked. Compared to his old world, nature here was way more beautiful and untouched, giving it a wild sense of beauty, something Arthur really appreciated. The air was also fresher and filled with qi that constantly refreshed his mind as he subconsciously refined some of it into his body.
After about 10 more minutes of walking peacefully, he could finally see a city in the distance. Although he knew that there was supposed to be a city here, seeing it with his own eyes was still a little relieving. After passing through the city gates of Brille, he had finally entered a city! The city, which was surrounded by 10-meter tall walls, was quite bustling, despite its rather small size.
As Arthur walked down the unfamiliar streets of Brille, he saw a bunch of things that he would probably never see in his old world. Street vendors hawking their wares, some of which were things that he had never seen before, as well as the way people were dressed here. This world of cultivation he had arrived in had very different natural resources compared to his old world, so the development had taken a completely different route.
Clothes here looked ancient, and modern technology was naturally non-existent. With that being said, he still saw street lamps and things that greatly resembled what existed in his previous life. Naturally, these lamps didn't run on electricity, but on qi.
As he walked leisurely, he noticed that a lot of people seemed to glance in his direction. Some people even outright stared at him as he walked past, and he assumed it was because of his strange clothes. He still had the clothes he wore in his previous life on. Since he needed to find a place to stay and buy some necessities, he just asked someone he found on the street.
"Excuse me, do you know where I could find a good inn around here?"
The woman he asked seemed completely stunned, but she quickly regained her wits.
"Th-the best inn around here would probably be the Silver Bliss Inn, but it's quite expensive."
"Alright, thank you very much."
With a slight bow and a smile, Arthur quietly left after getting directions to the inn. Leaving the stunned woman behind, thinking to herself.
"What a smile..."
