"Hello Miss Peia." Dr. Schnapps said as she came into Peia's room. "It is so good to see you awake."
"Thank you." Peia replied. "How am I, really?"
"While both you and Jeremy suffered from broken arms and legs, as well as both suffering concussions, you also have suffered several spinal injuries." Dr. Schnapps explained sadly. "While you can still live a good, long and fulfilled life, it is highly unlikely that you will ever walk normally again."
"Does Jeremy suffer such injuries?" Peia asked after a moment of processing the news.
"Fortunately, he didn't." Dr. Schnapps replied. "He will be discharged later today."
"Can I see him before he goes?"
"That is up to him. But, I will suggest it to both him and the orderlies."
"Thank you." Jeremy said as one of the nurses helped him into a pair of his own pants, taking the pressure off his injured ankle.
