Evy walked into the shared room with Almathea with Zingel still on her heels. Almathea felt her eyebrow twitch as she watched them walk in.
"We paid for two rooms," Almathea stated bluntly.
Evy's head bobbed up and down, "I know. But he just wouldn't let me go. Can't he sleep on the floor in his tiger form? I doubt he'll make much trouble."
Almathea shrugged, "If that's what you want. But what about the other room that we paid for?"
Evy shrugged, "We can tell the owner that we don't want it tomorrow. If I would have known that Zingel was going to be this sticky, I would not have asked for two rooms." She pushed Zingel's palm off of her hair.
Almathea nodded, "Alright then," before giving Zingel a death glare. If she knew that he was going to be so troublesome, she would not have accepted when Evy suggested they let him stay with them. However, the deed was already done. She sighed and took a seat on one of the two beds that were in the room.
Now that they were sure that there was no one around, Almathea felt comfortable enough to take out her pouch which had money. From the pouch, she poured out the pieces of silver and gold that lay inside.
In total, there were ten gold coin pieces, and thirty silver coin pieces.
Evy's eyes widened, having never seen this much money at once in her whole life. "I am pretty sure that you are a noble's child as days go by Thea. No commoner would have this amount of money on them."
Almathea remembered that when she had first met Evy, the shorter girl only had a few pieces of copper on her.
That copper is what they had used to pay for their lodging and meals for the evening.
If it was enough for all three of them, then the gold and silver was really just a fortune.
Evy kicked off her shoes and sat on the other bed that was in the room. "What now? We've already reached the village as you wanted. Do we have any other plans?" After sitting, Zingel followed suit, taking a seat behind her. He proceeded to sniff her hair.
Almathea froze. She had no other plans other than reaching the village safely. That had been her number one priority although she had no idea why. Now that she had reached the village, what was her next course of action?
Evy leaned over, placing her palms on her chin. She stared at the other girl intently. "With the amount of money you have. I don't think you would starve for the rest of your life. That is if you're not conned off of it." She muttered the last part underneath her breath.
Almathea looked up, "and you, what are you going to do now that we've reached the village?"
Evy shrugged, "I honestly don't know. I was thinking about following you for the rest of my life. I mean," she pointed at the coins that were stacked up on the bed according to size, "you're rich. If I follow you, I'm at least assured of never having to sleep in the woods again or starving during winter."
Almathea shook her head, "So you see me as a money bag?"
"I mean, you kind of are one." Evy pointed at the coins on the other bed once more.
Almathea returned all the coins back into the pouch and into the bag. "How about tomorrow we go around the village and see how it is. You said something about hunting monsters the day we met, we can do that for a living can't we?"
Evy shrugged, "My pa said that it depends on the state you are in. I don't know how it works here. Maybe we can go to the guild and ask."
Almathea nodded, "Sure. If not, can the money last us for a very long time?"
"Yes." Evy said as she pushed Zingel who had crawled onto her lap off of her. "Get off me. You're heavy you know."
At the loss of contact, Zingel pouted and began to whimper. "Zingel hug. Zingel hug." He said these words over and over again.
Evy glared at him, "If you continue to be a bad boy, I will throw you out of the room."
It took Zingel a few seconds to register what she was saying. However, when he did, he sat obediently at the foot of the bed, looking at Evy with shiny eyes.
Almathea shook her head, still finding their interractions quite weird. "I say that we go and find a place that sells clothes tomorrow. We could all use some new clothes, and I think that Zingel needs to give me back my cloak."
"Then after that we go and see if we can register with the guild. I am a little strong, but with Zingel I am sure that we will be able to fight monsters."
After agreeing what they were going to be doing, they blowed out the candle that lit the room.
In the dark, Evy continued to whisper. "Since you don't have your memories, I don't think that it would be good to use your name when we register in the guild. A fake name can be useful just in case there are people chasing after you."
Lexine shrugged before realizing that Evy would not see her since she was in the darkness. "I don't mind changing my name. But what about you? Are you going to use your name?"
"I am not being chased at the moment, and I am irrelevant. You on the other hand, are walking around with a small fortune. There is no doubt that there is something shady in your background."
In the darkness, Evy turned her head to look at Almathea who was gazing up at the ceiling. She wished fervently with all her heart that what she suspected was not the case. If it was the case, then she would have to ensure that no one else figured it out lest it was used against them.
She had just escaped her death, there was no way that she was planning on dying so soon before she managed to see her parents one last time.
