Chapter 38 - A cat

Inside the courtyard, the human boys headed to a backward pathway that could lead them inside the Front tower where Karmalin's office was.

"You go inside first, brother!" Bo suggested. He knew that their conversation might take time.

"Fine, I will go to Enammer afterward. I am sure we can find some traces."

"Yes, and we shall find that lawbreaker. This person can put people's lives in danger. Certainly, he wasn't aware of his deed."

Delun confirmed with a node. From the first day, that they entered this academy many unsolved issues were brought up in their paths. But the recent ones were playing with the lives.

Putting their fingers out on the screen of the elevator they got the access of lifting so crept inside.

The day was in the haste of its edge, giving the sun the slip allowing the night to sit on its place, offering sunlight to the moon, shouting that even a solid being either could shine with nobility.

The elevator stopped and they headed out inside that small corridor that a crimson carpet drew along with it had weaved perfectly with images of birds, sitting on branches; flowers grew in the middle, providing their beauty on the art that was a noble craft made of Artist's hands and mind.

There, Bo's eyes shifted on the bridge that conducted either side. He never wanted to cross it but this time he had to because the defiant seemed to be interested in that place. He had been living under Karmalin's serenity from the day he lost his father and must repay it in some ways.

This fay was the only one who entered the Nonorite shrine in that frizzing evening when the crows were on the roof, announcing that a new soul joined another world. Crying out, people must pray that person wakes up in a world way better than Vita one, not underworld that was the lower one.

That day Karmalin rested his hand on Bo's shoulder saying, "He will be fine, and you know that, don't you?"

He was glancing at his father's coffin and nodded. The memory was fresh, as gray as the sky, and as cold as those Vita mountains.

"Things will change Bo." Delun said, bringing him out of thoughts, putting his hand on his shoulder, leading him forward added, "Come on, he is waiting."

They knocked on the door. The manager and head of IC submitted their demand. The door groaned and went open. Karmalin had a box in his hand and placed it on the table in the middle of the chamber.

The chamber wasn't that big and three rooms belonged to guests that might come from Rose Vita Academy at any time. It had a crimson theme that was Karmlin's favorite color that brought a fantastic harmony with deep brown wooden bookshelves, his table, and those chairs body.

There was a copper round map of the Vita world on a small cylinder table. All countries had carved on it and filled it with gold. The walls were painted with stories of his kin. The fays that people were called them, guardians of Vita. No one knew what Karmalin's nature shift was. Some rumors were saying that he was a deep black dragon due to his wheaten skin tone, the only one that remained from his kin.

If the pastorates couldn't simply overcome him, it was all for his inward power and the lands that he had. Karmalin's popularity increased in Hekhamen, Elthorina, and Las Vita every passing by day but opposite that, it decreased in other provinces.

He led Delun to his room, which was the middle one. Bo sat on a chair near the window, peering at the Rose forest view. The Rose cemetery was shrouded by the heavy steams and even wasn't clear from there.

Inside the room, Karmalin sat on his table, extended his hand, guiding Delun to have his seat.

"Alright, Delun! It seems you have a story for me." He went on quickly.

"Yes, sir! Yesterday, after helping you at the library I went home…"

Delun narrated the story for the second time but this time with more details. Karmalin listened to every word patiently. He wanted this case to be in his hands but the parliament votes relied on hunters.

Even the crown prince, Edward, personally voted for Aligners to handle that matter but the king's vote made the hunters win the case. The prince was educated from the Aligners Academy and had been covering Karmalin since he joined the Parliament and gained a seat.

"Can you solve the drug case?" He asked unexpectedly.

"Yes, sir! I will challenge myself to do it as fast as I can." He declared.

After what had happened to him, this issue could help to prove that Aligners are fast as always.

"Did you find anything suspicious?" Karmalin was assured of his skills. Delun wasn't a regular boy and his talent needed time to grow.

"Yes, master! The shoe was a noble hand-made one. You know that my uncle is a shoemaker and works for a small local factory. Once I heard him saying that the high pastorates families wear special shoes for going to shrines. Moreover, our convict fay is one of them because after feeling guilty surged into the shrine across the bridge. I saw the images of that body again, they were zoomed enough to reveal the nature of that fay."

Delun paused. Karmalin got up from his chair and walked to the circle-shaped window on the right.

"What was it?" he asked.

"A cat, sir!"

"A cat?" Karmalin wasn't sure about the word he heard and added, "I will prepare cage."

"No, sir, a small cat! I saw some scratches as if they were cuddling but then dove inside. I must see the body to make sure again."

"How a small fay cat killed a deer? Do we have such a fay? I will search the records but as long as I remember, we don't have such fay."

"Maybe He or she is not from our Academy. Furthermore, it didn't change shape sir, there was a reason behind this matter. Maybe, this person tried to advance his inner nature by consuming drug or was ashamed of it and it went a huge mess." Delun guessed.

"These are possibilities but now you are free to scan the body." He pointed to the door.

Delun got up and thanked Karmalin although had many questions but he was not that daring to ask those.
