"Mr. Wilson, you might think this is a funny tryst but I can't see a reason to explain my father as what I am doing with you now!" Sweety vented out her anger on the man, uncaring that he was a professor in her school. Because he really has crossed his line.
"Well, we are walking to the market to get a soda. You say him.. you were thirsty?" He tried putting her at ease and occasionally turning back to see if anyone was following them. Anyone means her father.
But Sweety was not yet fazed. "I am going to market for a soda without money. Also, when there are drinks already at home, I will BUY more? That's what you want me to say?"
"Oh. I didn't know that."
"You know nothing. I was speaking with someone important when your messages popped up giving me an attack!" Stopping midway to go through his plans, Sweety announced, "I'll get back and you will never attempt this prank again."
"Prank?" Rob spelled the word like an alien thing referred to him. "I really had to see you. There is something important I have to tell you-"
"Not now. If I am not back in the house you will never ever see me or talk with me."
"Wait! Sweety! Sweety, come on." Sweety couldn't have been more embarrassed for being with a man in public. The looks she attracted seemed like a couple fighting and the guy convincing the girl to forgive him!
"Be quiet! I'm just two steps away, you don't have to shout." She was enraged by this person. But she had to focus on now.
"I'll text you when and where to meet, Mr. Wilson." Rob opened his mouth to interrupt when she added, "Either that or the school knows of your involvement with Julia Sanders."
Sweety did not want to use the blackmail card but he didn't leave her a choice.
She saw him turning rigid and distant instantly. As if the fun man just woke up to a harsh side.
"You won't be spared too." Rob warned her. "That night I wasn't alone."
"You can prove nothing." She turned on her heels when her arm was grabbed too roughly for her liking but when he brought her close to meet his hateful eyes, she didn't know what hurts more.
"Be careful with your words Sweety." Two strands of her hair came out from the bun she fixed on her head. As it was interrupting their stare Mr. Wilson tightened his grip on her waist and brought his finger to put the thing away from her eyes. "You have a statue of Bappa who you talk to when you have no one. I am giving you an option to add." He remained silent as the girl watched her in disbelief.
How did HE know what she did behind closed doors?
Before she could say something a whistle blew near them, disrupting their dialogue.
"You both have no other work? This is a public place! Go away from here before I issue a warrant for your families!" A traffic policeman came to 'sweep' traffic.
Sweety was quick to release from his grasp which he did since the policeman was more focused on shooing him away.
"Can't you see we are having a conversation?" Rob frailer his hands open to show the cop.
"Why don't I go to your houses and show how much I can interfere in a CONVERSATION!" The cop suggested with his grey moustache raised on one side in challenge.
"We'll go officer. I am sorry on our behalf." Mr. Wilson was not even looking her way, clearly upset with her. Still she said him bye, "I'll go now. You should go too."
Then on, she was not stopped until she replaced her slippers with home ones.
"Where were you gone? The garbage bag was not even put inside the bin." Rowan demanded the second his daughter entered.
"I wanted to take a walk. I'll put it now."
"No need. I told Tessa to do that. You go and freshen up." Sweety went in when her father called her again.
"If you want to go out there is no stopping you. But carry your phone Sweety. We shouldn't be worried."
Nodding to him she went into her room where her sister was still having her face dug in a textbook.
Reaching to her phone she commented. "Still not through with your acting?"
She bet her younger sibling read nothing from the course of acting she performed in front of Papa.
"Is he gone?" She asked hopefully.
"Where will he go? This is his house. And start studying sincerely before I tell him what you are doing behind his back." She scolded Tessa.
"Yeah yeah." Tessa sang like she was hearing a joke.
"Tess. You will be sent next year in a boarding school. Do you want Papa to do that?"
As much Sweety thought her sister will be frightened for leaving the luxury and comfort, surprisingly she showed not an ounce of that.
"The more I go away from him the better." Well, she had no words for consoling her sister.
"You are sure you want to do this. I mean, he might be joking just to scare you. Come on don't be shy in front of me. You can share everything with me." It was a while since she behaved as a friend to her sister. Come to think of that, she NEVER was a friend to her. Always the strict elder sister. Jeez!
Shrugging Tessa agreed. "Sure. You stay away from him too. And you are happy. I'll do the same."
"It's not that..." She was really at loss of words. "What was the game you were playing again?"
The younger grinned goofily at the change of subject. "It's the latest game with the iron man out there..."
She listened to her for sometime until even the changed topic became boring to talk. It made sense to play than speak after all.
By the time Sweety returned to checking messages, shutting down Mr. Wilson's chat she saw Vincent's additional ones.
'You there?'
'Of course something must have come up'
'I'll be waiting for your message'
She instantly typed- 'Sorry. Something came up.'
She went ahead to type 'thank you for waiting' but he beat her in replying first.
'It's ok. Just the fact that you're so close to me is driving me crazy.'
Sweety deleted the message she was about to send. Now what was this? Was he also waiting out of her house?
"How the hell they got my address? I did not put it in my profile!"
"What are you mumbling about?" Tessa was busy in her game but her sister was disturbing her.
"Oh. Sorry." She said that loud. Nonetheless, Sweety rechecked her Facebook profile. There was no address filled except that she lived in Mumbai.
'What do you mean?' She texted Vincent. For extra measures she checked out of her window to see any suspecting movement. In the bushes especially.
'We are in the same city and haven't met up yet!'
Ohh!! What a relief.
Comforting herself back on her pillow, she relaxed. 'We'll meet soon. But I've to visit my family first.'
'Absolutely. I have this farmhouse we can meet one day.'
Farm house?
'I won't be able to stay for more than two hours.' She bit her lip contemplating what he would think of her.
'No problem. We'll hang out for two hours and I'll drop you back at your doorstep.' He added a sticker of clown bowing to her.
Chuckling she said, 'Done.'
'You do drinks?'
'Absolutely!' Sweety was smiling wide teeth at the possibility of drinking shots.
'Too bad. I won't be drinking with you then'
'Why? You don't drink?'
'I do but I have to NOT drink as I'll be your driver.'
If there was anyone scrutinising Sweety then, they will surely catch her blushing cheeks. Even under all that bronze tone.
They flirted some more until she finally told him she should study now. He did not mind it except that he wanted a pic of her in her current state.
'Why now?' All types of things ran her mind as to why he suddenly asked her of this.
'Wanna collect memories of you.' He typed back.
Could this guy be anymore wonderful! She was already swooning like a teenager.
