Chapter 42 - Rejected

"This is outdated."

"What does that mean?" Rob demanded pausing his video game, he looked up at Tyler who came with a depressing news regarding his acceptance of Gulf project.

With difficulty Ty repeated the words said to him regarding his invention he found out years back, "They said they have better devices to spy on and that mine is an outdated one."

He rattled the nearby desk in anger. All this he went through, for nothing.

Rob put his PSP on the floor, looking for a seat to sit with Tyler. Actually, he was playing on the floor as the only couch he possessed was biting him on his butts. And that was where his friend was sitting in.

"I think you should get off that seat or your bum will be jammed."

It took a moment for the other to understand but when Ty did, he hurriedly stood up, brushing his clothes and behind. "Don't you give too much room for unwanted pests?"

"Woah! Don't get mad at me, I was warning you."

"Shut up! Just shut up! You are the only reason why I lost this chance. If you had not taken off three years before, my product would have been working on till this day!" In rage, Tyler wanted to punch something but he was afraid if this dilapidated mess will come crumbling down instantly.

"There's not a place to sit!"

"There is! Come here," Rob positioned himself on a good tile and patted the tile two steps away from his.

"Forget it."

"Wait!" Rob rushed to him. He didn't want to leave the good game but money comes first. "You said I'll be given payment for the project."

Tyler looked down on him. "I said I'll give you the payment 'proceeds' from the project. But there is no 'project' to begin with!" Going past Rob, he headed to the exteriors of this broken outlet.

"Who proceeds who?" Someone should junk out this scientist brain and tell him that not everyone is studying to go crazy.

Almost on the verge of losing control, Tyler explained, "INCOME. Does that make it clear?"

"Where're you going? What about me? What of this.. this locket! The lower part is broken. Completely unamendable! You HAVE to pay for this."

Tyler turned to meet his eyes, "If it hadn't been for you stealing my things and my Gulf, I'd have been in a different place today. Maybe Sweety would have been with me as well."

"You Done? Now hand over the payment. Blame me all you want but I should get what I was promised for." Rob was bored listening his sad stories. He opened his palm out in indication.

"Fuck off." Ty pushed him which resulted in Rob catching hold of his collars.

"I've been meaning to pull them out every time I see you in trousers. Do you really want to do this Ty?" Rob's eyes were seeing red now.

"Or what? Hm? You can do no shit. One call," Tyler brought his right fore finger pointing at Rob, "One call and you'll be inside bars. Have you forgotten already?" Slowly, not breaking contact with him, Tyler released Rob's hold from him. "See you when I want to."

Gazing after the whirring Mercedes, Rob threw a brick at the car glass but it missed and gave just a scratch on the rear. As much he wanted to kill that bastard who was just like every rich scot; untrusted.

Holidays were coming to an end with a dull and heavy heart of Sweety. She went through the feeling of losing important things in her life.

The locket which came to her like a blessing from God was gone. Back to its owner. Probably! For a hundredth time she was regretting giving back the locket to those men easily. "I should have fought better.." But there was a lacking of reasonable excuses to keep the chain with her.

Then the guilt that dreadfully stayed in the depth of her heart. For Vincent. She did really bad with him. He did not deserve that.

"Time to go." Tessa tucked in to remind.

The sisters hugged too tight. "Ow! What, you want to climb on me now!" Sweety complained of Tessa's strength. Though the kid was younger to her by six years, the latter was more powerful. Literally.

"What you thinking you're gonna miss?"

"I'll miss.." Sweety opened her arms for her sister and Tessa believed it was her name she was about to say, "Frankie, Momos, Chutney, Vada Pav and aw, there's too many!"

"You fatso!"

"Huh! Look yours first." Sweety pointed at Tessa's wobbling tummy. Tessa pouted, opening her mouth to argue more. "Okay! There! I'll miss you!"

Tessa proudly folded her hands on her tummy.

"You are the only good thing that happened. We got close because we went far." Sweety nudged her sister to sit with her in the bed.

"Did you take the choco-pies?"

"Yes."

"And wafers and cookies?"

"That too."

"And.. you took everything, right?" It was surprising to see Tess care for her this way that Sweety had no words in reply. "Answer!" The younger demanded.

"Sweety! Come on girl, you have a flight to catch."

"Yeah Mom."

The way back to school was mechanical for Sweety. Come to think of it, she did not come across any strange happenings lately. No... teachers getting interested in her, no smart guys playing nervous around her to get to talk, other girls didn't mess with her. Everyone went away like they had their own world and she was left in her solace.

Putting all her hair in a low ponytail, she headed for classes.

"How were holidays?" Meer gave a thought which quirked her brows, "You have to think this much?"

"Maybe because it didn't seem like a holiday! I was doing routine thing everyday except for attending classes, not hanging out with my friends because all of you went out of the state. So yeah, kinda bit lonely too."

"I'm sorry, you should've called."

"Oh. I also ate a lot of meat. Man, this country's spices are THE best."

"I'm already missing it. But I've brought some snacks for you." She handed him a packet.

"What's this?"

"This is- Forget it, you won't be able to spell it anyway." She let him try it, he went on to share with others. Seeing their positive reactions, Sweety was happy she brought them treats.

"What is cooking so loud in the class today? Boys, sit down on your respective benches, no need to crowd with your height. And girls... tell me if the break was worth it?"

"Mr. Wilson! Welcome!"

"Hi Mr. Wilson! Yes, the break was absolutely worth it."

Mr. Wilson, the psychology teacher was back in his position and focus ended correctly on the one girl staring him agape, a reaction that satisfied him and was worth it for this new exterior.
