"Yes," Rin bobbed her head up and down and enthusiastically smiled. "I am going to the market to sell my ginsengs. By the way, sister, why do your clothes look out of place?"
"What do you mean?"
"You are wearing something I have never seen before," Rin continued as she scratched her temples. "Are you from the land ruled by Song Dynasty?"
"Song Dynasty?" Yuna mimicked Rin, and her brain went to process the whole situation. When she realized the entire thing, she went, "AHH! No, I am not someone from the Song Dynasty."
"Then?" Rin's eyes went round, expressing her curiosity on a whole new level.
"I am a Korean person," Yuna answered, but Rin seemed like she did not understand what she meant. "I am someone from Joseon,"
"Joseon?" Rin tilted her head as she did not understand the nonsense Yuna spouted.
Joseon Dynasty started during the Ming Dynasty began to in China. And it was far more than that. The timeline did not match.
Yuna tried to rack her brain with whatever stock knowledge that remained during history classes. She memorized the kings in Joseon Dynasty like a song.
"Rin, what is the first syllable of the King's name?" Yuna sincerely asked as if her life was on the line. "Tae, Jeong, Tae, Se, Mun, Dan, Se, Ye, Seong, Yeon, Jung, In, Myeong, Seon, Gwang, In, Hyeo, Hyeon, Suk, Gyeong, Yeong, Jeong, Sun Heon, Cheol, Go, Sun. Who among them is correct?"
There was a silence. Rin stared at Yuna like a madman, as if they were not speaking in the same language. It was awkward, and Yuna felt like they were not connecting their brain cells at all.
'Why does Rin act like she's in a historical drama, though?' Yuna thought to herself wondered. "It could have been better if Rin was someone from the future like me. What is wrong with this dream, and why am I not waking up?"
"Sister, I don't understand what you are saying,"
"I know," Yuna giggled. "Your face screams so. Do you know who the King is? "
"King?" Rin mimicked Yuna.
And then, it dawned on her.
She was speaking to a ten-year-old girl who had to find ginsengs in the dangerous mountainous area. At a young age, she had to do things that don't suit her age at all. For sure, she has no idea about the ruler of this country.
"Never mind," Yuna answered with a gentle smile. "Let's go now; I have to go to the town and do something about my existence here."
Yuna became surprised when Rin started holding her hand. Her hand was tiny and adorable; at her age, she noticed how rough her hand was. She concluded that it was not Rin's first time to come to dangerous mountain areas just to pick up some ginsengs.
While they were walking along the mountainous path, Yuna gave it a thought. The keyword was Song Dynasty. Suppose Rin asked about her being a foreigner who came from the Song Dynasty. She became sure that Song Dynasty ruled China at some point in its history.
Then, suddenly she remembered.
The walk was not too far, but it was not that near either. When they finally arrived at the town, Rin started sprinting with all her might. Yuna did not even choose but followed along with little Rin, whose hand was grabbing her tight. They even went across the entrance of the town.
Yuna's attire made everyone stare at her. The buildings made it seem like she was in a historical drama. Not in the Joseon era, but it seemed like the era was something way before it. Gugoryeo?
If this was Goguryeo, did this happen during the three kingdoms era? Then how would she be able to know where she was? Was she in Baekje, Silla, or Goguryeo?
Nah, that would be too far.
If this time the three kingdoms were already united, then was she in Goryeo era?
Then, everything made sense. Song Dynasty reigned over China during the 11th century. If it is the 11th century, then the period is Koryeo Dynasty?
When Rin finally arrived at her destination, she finally stopped running to catch her breath. Yuna did the same as she felt exhausted from all the walking and running. The rays of the sun were blazing in heat, and she felt thirsty and a little bit hungry. The veggie salad she had was a little bit lacking now that she spent her energy walking and running the whole time.
Yuna followed little Rin's small steps towards a small stall. It was a stall in the Goryeo era version.
If she was to point out the difference between the current stalls and the Goryeo era version, it was only the fact that most goods are displayed outside of the actual store so that consumers can look around and buy stuff. It was similar in a sense, but of course, the atmosphere, the people, and the outfits were a little bit different.
"I have five ginsengs to sell to you, sir," Rin spoke to the gentleman who wore the same traditional clothes for commoners in this era. Commoners' hanboks were made up of cotton pieces, while noblemen and higher ranked officials wore silk for their clothes.
"Wow, silk," Yuna muttered as she was looking forward to seeing a nobleman in this dream, or transportation dream, before she comes back to where she came from.
"That costs only three silvers," The male, who seemed to be the owner of the stall, grabbed the ginsengs and examined them using a magnifying lens. "Young Rin."
"Can't we huggle for something higher, sir?" Yuna chimed in with the conversation and maintained eye contact him the man. "We are famished, dearest sir."
"Okay, I will give four silvers, no more, no less."
This time, Yuna even wondered if this was a dream. The dream seemed too realistic for her, and her senses are were even more precise. The last time she remembered was that she was in a library with her best friend looking at a painting of a white tiger under the bamboo tree.
