After running for a while longer, they finally reached the emergency door. Ray looked back and there were no signs of the monsters, it seemed like those who fell slowed them down...
"Alright, this will lead you to the outside roof. There's a ladder leading downwards which can get you safely to the bottom"
While the teacher was unlocking the door, Ray started to get nervous while thinking of heading outside, but the school was a lost cause. Even if he did beat these five which was already unlikely, since the school has been breached, more could come over.
"Bottom? Isn't outside dangerous?"
"Y-Yeah it's infested with monsters... Why would we want to go outside?"
"W-Why can't we just stay here?"
"I-I also think that would be better"
People started discussing amongst themselves whether or not they should stay or leave. Ray didn't want to get involved; he had learnt that trying to help a group as large as this at his current state would only bring more problems. So, the last thing he wanted to do was standout.
Seeing as how ray didn't want to get involved, tina didn't do anything either. There was no reason to, and she also knew that being in a group would only put them more at risk
"Done" Said the teacher as he opened the door
Droplets of the heavy rain landed on Ray's face as the cold wind sent chills throughout his body
"We have to go out on this weather...?"
"We have no choice..."
"But it's too cold..."
The first to step outside was a girl, she had short snow-white hair with braids which extended down to her chest, she had a rather short and thin frame with seemingly perfect proportions, her deep oceanic blue eyes which seemed to look right through you.
The moment she stepped out, she was soaked, but that didn't seem to bother her at all
Her school uniform without the blazer and long white socks which stretched over her knees were drenched. Yet she paid no attention to it
Ray knew that there was something strange about her, not only that but she was the calmest out of everyone in the situation and didn't stand out, it almost felt as if she had no presence, he had only noticed her now. And there was no way Ray wouldn't remember someone with looks that stood out as much as hers.
"Alicia, wait for me!" Said a girl who seemed to be her friend as she also stepped outside
[So Alicia is her name...] Thought ray
The moment the girl stepped out, she was soaked in water
She had Short light brown hair like my sister's and her frame was similar if not slightly smaller to Alicia's, her proportions were average and her brown puppy eyes made her seem weak and fragile
Despite how similar to his sister she looked, Ray also didn't notice her earlier either as she also had a small presence, he looked around and there were a few who he recognised and those who he decided to settle with it all being part of his imagination, it was only natural that he wouldn't recognise them if they weren't from his class
"Alicia... You mean granddaughter of the principal?"
"I Heard she had just transferred here..."
"She's really beautiful though, isn't she?"
"Why would she go outside? Isn't it safer to be in here?"
Alicia then suddenly turned to the exit which everyone was afraid to go through, and without even trying to hide how annoyed she was, she said
"you have two options, either to stay in there or leave like me, although you'll most likely die either way, since you're my classmates and my grandfather's student's, but I'll tell you this, your chances of survival are higher if you were to leave."
After saying that, she turned around and walked away with her friend. Ray now even thought of her as an even weirder person
Although the way she talked was as if she didn't care about anyone, she still stood in the middle of this horrible weather just to warn them. And that made them realise
"S-She's right... The school's a lost cause..."
"She sent chills down my spine, but I think I like it..."
"Now's not the time for this, let's go"
One after another, the students went on to the roof, surprisingly no monsters had fallen here which ray considered another stroke of luck.
Although everyone was getting soaked, but they ignored it. As for ray, he was regretting leaving his umbrella on the first floor with the receptionist, he didn't want to catch a cold after all.
But Ray liked the rain, it felt like he was taking a shower, the feeling of the water of water dropping on his body and the comfortable sound it made when it hit the walls, it was relaxing. It helped him calm down.
From the roof, Ray couldn't see clearly what was happening in the inner city, but what he could see was monsters still falling and lots of fires.
When everyone was on the roof, the teacher closed the door, without saying a single word, everyone followed behind the two girls who were now descending the ladder
The tension was high, Ray along with tina, left the back of the line, Tina didn't say anything but ray could tell that she was scared, after all, so was he but the rain helped a little.
Everyone watched as Alicia and her friend climbed down the wet ladder, ray and tina didn't want to waste any more time so they also climbed down
"T-They're actually doing it..."
"I-I'm not sure about this..."
"People, please calm down." Said the teacher
[This is why I didn't want to work in large groups.] Thought Ray as he continued climbing down
