Chapter 46 - Night 29-3

"What is that?" Fam would glare as he saw a visible distortion of a clock below Don's feet. There was even a distortive effect surrounding Don. "I don't know... I've never seen anything like it, but.... something isn't right. The reports said they were all either Grade 1 or Grade 2. Sure, Ire was put out of commission, so if anything, that guy should be at least Grade 3, maybe even Grade 4; however..." Avarice would tighten the grasp around her daggers. On the inside of her visor, a bead of sweat was sliding down her cheek.

"Not coming to me?" Don asked as he tilted his head slightly.

"Then..." Don's speak paused, the hands of the clock below him increased. The clock's time increased by a solid two minutes, and instantly Don appeared in front of Avarice. Avarice was shocked. It didn't feel like Don had teleported. This was something else entirely. She couldn't quite put it, but she didn't like it. She had taken a step back, but something forced her towards Don. Don caught her by the neck. Avarice wasn't going to go down without a fight. She swung her daggers in an attempt to cut off Don's arm. Still, as they flew throughout the distortion, the daggers seemed to curve and bend only to reform back to their original design afterward. Don would slam Avarice into the ground.

A large crater formed around them from the sheer amount of force. Everyone was stunned. Don had displayed both supreme speed and strength at the same time. A shockwave expunged around Don, and the smoke was pushed aside to clear it in an instant. Don was still holding onto Avarice's neck. Don's eyes glared a vivid black, and a blackened aura started to swirl around his hand. Avarice would groan in pain. She felt like her body wouldn't respond. As she tried to lift her arm, she wasn't able to. It wasn't like anything was stopping her. There was no force pressuring her. It was more like there was nothing around her. The space around her was empty and was set to float adrift endlessly. She wanted to stop Don from crushing her neck. The armor around her neck was starting to crumble and bend to the force Don was applying to it.

"Fam, do something!" Avarice called out to Fam, but was there anything he could really do? He had no Sin weapon, unlike the others. In fact, he was the newest recruit in the Sin Group. If anything, all he had was his core weapon which was to increase the raw energy throughout his body. Still, the cost was he would become exhausted and tired to that point where he wouldn't be able to do anything. That was why his suit released the steam earlier. He had used his core weapon.

Fam knew that if he activated his core weapon once or twice more, then he would be out of commission. His body would collapse, and he would be nothing more than a flesh bag in armor. Still, that wasn't everything. Fam hadn't moved because his fear had overtaken him. Unlike the others, Fam wasn't used to this kind of pressure. He knew when to flee. It was the reason he never tried to stay around the High Commander or General Smith. He didn't like the feeling. Sure he loved a good battle, but he knew if it would be a slaughter either on his end or the enemies' end. He didn't like pointless battles like that, so he was always indifferent. However... did he have a choice now?

Fam's core would give off a vivid bright glow, and he would take to the same stance he used against Jen. Since Don was right beside him, he didn't have to move. After all, Avarice was next to him when Don appeared. "Take this!" Fam shouted as he released the built-up energy and threw out his fist. A large shockwave expunged from around them along with a 'BOOM,' but unlike before, no one was sent flying away. Instead, don had caught Fam's fist with his own freehand. His eyes shifted towards Fam with that creepy black glow in them. "W-What!? How!?" Fam exclaimed, but before he could get an answer, space around Fam's hand once again began to distort and warp. It was as if his hand was bending in ways that it should be able to, which caused Fam to scream at the top of his lungs in pain, then a force pushed Fam away.

Fam went rag dolling across the street and groaned in pain. He would roll over and try to pick himself off the ground with his arm, but he felt that nothing was there when he did. Looking to his side, he noticed he was missing his arm. Blood was spewing from the socket, and Fam screamed in pain. Don was holding Fam's arm. He would lift Avarice off the ground and set her onto her feet before proceeding to beat the shit out of her with Fam's arm. The blows weren't normal. Several 'BOOMS' went off each time the limb hit Avarice's arm. A powerful shockwave would expend outward. Dents formed from the force. Avarice found her body would respond to her actions, but she couldn't move freely since she was being smacked around.

After Don determined the dents in her armor were weak enough, he would spartan kick Avarice in the direction Fam was. Her armor began to crumble, and eventually, her flesh was exposed in various areas all over her armor. Avarice seemed to bounce and roll towards Fam's side. Fam looked from Avarice, who was groaning in pain, towards Don, who was just standing there a great distance away from them.

"M-M-M-Monster!" Fam called out with fear in his voice. Don tilted his head to the side at the remark then tossed the limb away. "Says the people who take innocent lives. Do not think I have forgotten what your group has done. I will never forget." Don would remark as he narrowed his eyes at Fam. Fam, in particular, caused something inside Don to boil. During one of his rewinds, Fam had kidnapped April to get Don to come to them. Of course, Don went to save April, but she had been turned into some kind of mindless doll when he arrived. Around Fam were other mindless dolls that were particular only females. April did whatever Fam requested of her, and Don couldn't help but feel rage boil over. That was when he used both parts of his mutated seed and found a way to accelerate his own time while tearing apart space around Fam, just like how he did now with Fam's arm.

When Don distorted the space around Fam, he forced Fam away, but at the same time, he created a distortion near Fam's arm socket so that it would rip and tear even through the armor. That was why Fam's arm was pulled clean off. This kind of distortion was also why Avarice couldn't move freely and felt like she had been floating and drifting among space. Don had distorted the space around them. In one of his rewinds, he firmly recalled giving his Seed Power a name. At first, he thought he had two Seed Powers, so he called his Seed Powers.

Timeless Flow and Spatial Distortion.

"I did nothing! I haven't even done anything to you!" Fam exclaimed, which only angered Don further. Sure, Fam didn't remember anything from the rewind Don recalled, but Don remembered everything clearly. The clock below Don suddenly began to spiral rapidly, and suddenly several Dons appeared around Fam and Avarice. They looked around to see all of the Dons, but when they looked back to see where the original was, they noticed he was in front of them. He kicked both of them into one of the other Dons who attacked them and sent them to another Don which did the same. It looked like Don was playing ping-pong with himself, Avarice and Fam were the balls, and Don was the paddle. This cycle continued for what could only be assumed as an hour before the Dons faded out, and the original stood at the place where the Fam and Avarice would slide against the pavement next to his feet. Their armor was pretty much nonexistent; both of their faces were in clear view. Fam looked like some kind of pretty boy with blonde hair and bright blue eyes; meanwhile, Avarice looked pretty, she wasn't bad on the eyes, but nothing compared to Jen or April. Her hair looked like it was dyed green, and her eyes were a hazel color.

Both of them looked up at Don but couldn't move. Their bones were broken, and they were bleeding all over. All they could do was stare the Reaper in the eyes, but even if their fear caused them to see a Reaper, Don was actually tired. His body was covered in sweat, and he looked like he would pass out any moment now. He disengaged his Seed Power which caused both the distortion around him and the clock below him to fade. Don would pull from his holster one Desert Eagle, each for one hand. He aimed the barrel at both Fam and Avarice. The barrel pointed directly at their foreheads, and without mercy, he pulled the trigger.

However...

Fam and Avarice's body seemed to vanish. From a distance away, they appeared with En touching both of them. "I was wondering what was taking you two so long. It has been hours. We were supposed to be back already." En looked from the two towards Don. "Looks like Ire didn't finish the job." En would comment. "Great...." En let out an exhaustive sigh. "Let's cut a deal. I can tell you are exhausted. All of your people are out of commission, just like ours. So let's call a truce for now." En would remark. En was right. Don was extremely tired. From countless battles to being resurrected then using the full extent of his Seed Power. It was a wonder how he was still standing, let alone able to even hold both of his guns steadily.

"Very well, but should you attack again..." Don paused for a moment to shift his attention towards En. En felt like he had seen a Reaper. En knew Don was exhausted and couldn't possibly do anything more, but he felt like Don would easily kill them right now. It was the same feeling he got from the High Commander and General Smith. "I will kill all of you in the slowest and the most painful way possible." Don's words were cold and sinister. It wasn't like him. He never tortured people. Everyone he had killed so far except Richard was dealt with swiftly and with mercy. Yet, Don wasn't lying. The conviction inside of him came out firmly. En knew that they had made a yet another enemy they would have trouble dealing with. They already had to deal with the Rosario Group and the Boy, but now they had to deal with Don's group. En cursed himself. "Very well." He would reply then seemed to vanish without a trace with both Avarice and Fam.

The tension would clear out after several more moments, and Don's eyes would slowly feel heavy before he collapsed. Watching all of this was the boy. Instead of using a handheld, he was sitting on a plush couch watching from a giant television screen on top of an entertainment center. The room was still white and endless, but the Boy was no longer alone. Instead, two others were sitting on the couch with him.

"Is that him, brother?" A cute voice called from the boy's side. It was from a girl. She looked like an identical twin, but instead of being a boy, she was a girl. The girl looked younger than the boy, though. "Jeez... your new toy looks kind of hot, Lil bro. Do you mind if I take him?" A more mature voice called out. It was also from a female. This female looked older than both the boy and girl, but she also looked identical to them.

The boy turned his attention towards the older girl. "NO! He's mine!" The boy exclaimed like that when a child was about to have their favorite toy taken away. The older girl giggled softly. "Fine, fine. I won't take him away, but you'll let me play with him, right?" The older girl asked, and the boy sighed heavily. "Fine." The boy would reply. He felt a tug from his right side. The younger girl was tugging at his sleeve. "Can I also play with him?" The girl asked, and the boy nodded with a smile. "Of course!" The boy exclaimed happily.

The older girl huffed, "Of course you spoil her. Every time you find something new, you never let me play with it first." The older girl would remark. The boy turned towards his older sister. "That is because you always break my toys! Just like you did with Ire and his group! Now I have to clean up after your mess! At least, Luna doesn't break them!" The boy exclaimed with annoyance in his voice. The older girl chuckled lightly, "Not my fault your toys are weak. Still..." The older girl looked at the screen where several of Don's friends were trying to help him up. Eventually, Ion and Jessica came back out to help Don after April went to get the others. Her eyes were solely focused on Don the entire time, though. "I don't think he'll break. After all, we all watched him. He hasn't broken once." The older girl would place a few fingers to her lips in a seductive way and her lips curved deviously.

Don would open his eyes; he found himself in a black and white space when he did. Half of the space was black, and a half was white. He was standing in the middle of each. Don would turn left and right. "Am I dead?" Don asked aloud, but mainly to himself. Shortly after chuckling voice echoed out. "Not quite, Kiddo." Don recognized that voice. His eyes went wide, and he hastily looked left then right then left again, but nothing. Finally, when he felt an arm drape over him from behind, he looked up to see a beautiful pale complexion of a woman with shoulder-length pitch-black hair and deep black eyes. The woman looked around Don's age. "Melissa..." Don murmured, and the woman smirked. The woman was wearing all black, from baggy pants to a sleeveless tank top. She even had on black fingerless gloves. The woman was slim fit. She had her feminine charms and features that complimented her slim-fit physique. "That's the second time you've actually said my name, Kiddo." The woman would comment, and Don closed his eyes in silence.

"My sorry." Don would remark, which caused Melissa's brow to raise. "For what, kid?" She was confused. "For not being able to save you. For getting in your way and getting you killed. If only I had just stayed back, you may still be alive..." Don would remark with anguish in his voice. Melissa's smirk devolved into a frown then, after a moment, curved into a soft smile. She was only slightly taller than Don, but she still managed to swirl around him and embrace him with care and affection while smoothly brushing her fingers through his hair.

"You have nothing to apologize for. When you are in my line of work, you can die at any time. Besides... I only did what I did because I wanted to. There is no need to blame yourself for my death, Donathan." Melissa would speak gently, and eventually, muffled sobs could be heard coming from Don. His arms moved to wrap around Melissa tightly. The two of them shared this affectionate embrace for several moments longer before Don eventually stopped sobbing. Finally, Melissa would release him and step back.

"But my, how you have grown! I bet you are hit with all the ladies now, huh!?" Melissa would grin teasingly, which caused Don to chuckle lightly and punch her in the shoulder playfully. "If I am, it is because of you." Don would remark with a smirk of his own. Melissa chuckled lightly. "Sure, but looks also play a role in it. It's all part of your charm." Melissa would wink at him, which caused Don to sigh lightly with a smile across his face as he shook his head.

"Whatever. Anyways... I know this may be abrupt, but how are you here? Am I dead?" Don asked, and Melissa shook her head. "No, nothing like that. If anything, you could say I am a ghost that haunts your every waking moment." Melissa would comment jokingly with a grin. Don shook his head, "Uh-huh... so what's the real reason?" Don asked, and to this, Melissa just shook her head and shrugged. "Not sure. I couldn't tell you, but what I can say is that I feel like we are connected somehow, so I doubt I'll be going anywhere anytime soon." Again, Melissa would remark, which caused Don's brow to raise.

"Wait... does that mean you are like some kind voice inside of my head?" Don asked, and Melissa chuckled at the idea. "Maybe. I can't say. If anything, I woke up a few moments ago, then saw you standing there when you thought you were dead." Melissa would reply. It seemed like she was hiding something but managed to cover it up easily. Don trusted his trainer more than anything, so he didn't even think she was lying to him in the first place. He just accepted her words. "Okay. Well, if you are, then it's good to have you back." Don would comment with a smile, and Melissa would nod with her own, "It's good to be back." She replied, afterward they began talking about everything that happened after she had passed away. From how he met Rebecca to when he met April, how April confessed, and everything up until now. Even all of his friends he made along the way. They talked for what felt like hours. Well, it was more so Melissa just listening to Don and commenting here and there.
