I was not scared.
Within minutes, Connor had returned. He sat next to me, casting his little blue light on our group as he inspected Corwin. His face had taken on a pallor that was noticeable.
"I need to rest for a few minutes, and then I'll take you over there first. Then I'll come back for Corwin."
He indicated towards the cave-in. "The opening up there isn't large enough for more than one person to go through at a time. I will send you through. When you get to the other side, stay up at the top and wait for me to bring Corwin through. Then, you grab onto his hoverboard and guide it down to a flat surface. I'll follow afterwards. Got it?"
"Yup. Sounds like a plan."
As we sat there, allowing Connor the chance to regain his strength, he passed me the water bottle and we shared the last of the precious liquid inside.
