When we got to the church holding each other's hands tightly, I had to stop before I could walk through the church door. I did not believe in religions. My faith in God was also shaken, but I still had to come to God's house, the church, to honor someone's death. God would not welcome me into His home. There was no reason for Him to let me into His home because I had never done anything for Him. I smiled.
The numbness I saw when I looked into Killian's eyes gave me relief. I was sure he was trying to give me strength when he shook my hand. After taking a deep breath, I took my first step through the church door and continued walking towards the open coffin ahead.
People I didn't know were crying silently by the coffin. When they noticed me, they frowned at first, then moved away from the head of the coffin and sat down. Why did they hate me? Is it because I'm a princess? Is it because I have powers? What was the real reason for this heart-burning hatred?
