The rest of the week passed slowly. Sky hardly saw Dain and when she did, he was angry and frustrated. Sky wanted to ask him how he planned to stop King Ragos from mating her off, but she was afraid that by bringing it up he'd lose his temper again. She let it go.
It also appeared that Jin had permanently taken over for Aven as her combat trainer. Every day she hoped to see Aven at the outdoor practice courts, but he was never there, just Jin. Sky liked Jin and was learning a lot from him, but he was rough. She was a regular guest at the medical tent.
Not only did she not see Aven at Combat Training, but she also didn't see him at any other times. When she asked Jin about him, all Jin said was that Aven needed space. Aven's disappearance coupled with Dain's irritable mood made Sky feel very alone. She tried talking to Nola but still couldn't get more than a few words out of her at a time.
