Asd ducked under a wild swing as a foot came crashing into his chest. He was smashed into the side of the cave he was in, rolling a little way forwards until he was hanging at the edge of a ledge that led down into a sheer drop covered with fog, but still having a variety of stalagmites pointing upwards and ready to skewer anyone dumb or unfortunate to drop down there.

"Do you think it wise to be looking at your stats in the middle of a sparring session beast!" Asd chuckled slowly at Professor Chelsea's annoyed appearance, as he quickly rolled up to his feet and sent his left palm flying towards her and using a spell in the same instant. she scoffed as a shimmering shield of wind popped up, dispersing the sand to the side as she surged forwards with more speed than Asd could follow through with.

He swung a fist forwards, but Professor Chelsea was like water and as slippery as a snake covered in oil…. a very beautiful snake he might add. Two quick strikes pushed him back towards the ledge, but he was nothing if not more graceful than even she could possibly hope to be. He might not have the speed and strength she does, but he was a Werelion, for all intents and purposes, he was a cat, and there were no creatures more graceful than cats, except of course the birds.

He danced on the edge of the ledge with half of his foot hanging off it, it was even more precarious but his balance was unshaken as he swung his clenched fist towards the Face of Professor Chelsea. She came to an abrupt stop letting the swing go past her face as Asd used the momentum to transition from a punch to an elbow strike. But she caught his elbow and sent a knee smashing into his sternum, it was painful, but he was able to go with that and smash his head forwards landing it squarely and securely in the middle of her nose.

There was a loud crunch as she retreated backwards, blood spilling from her nose as she was caught off guard by what was most definitely Ad's first successful strike in the two weeks they have been training together. The Werelion did not get complacent due to his small victory, after all he wasn't aiming for just a superficial blow, he wanted to bring her down, at least this weakened version of her anyway as she was just fighting him at 10% of her full and total capacity, and improvement from the 3% she was using two weeks ago.

There was a split second when he thought he had her cornered, for just a single second he let himself get a bit overconfident. He noticed the smile before he noticed the ceiling of the cave, and then it was still there bearing down on him, just as it has every day for six hours for the past three weeks. He grunted feeling dislocated bones shift back in to position and cracked ribs mend themselves.

Even amongst Weres, the Werelions were faster healers with the werewolves being the only ones capable of matching and sometimes overpowering that healing factor to stand toe to toe with vampires. But ever since he started studying magic and learning spells, his physical qualities have been experiencing a qualitative change. He was faster and stronger and the physical exertions during his training sessions with Professor Chelsea had been helping, it was to the point that loath as he was to admit it, he enjoyed her company and tutelage.

"You increased the percentage again." He stated as he turned himself over and struggled to get back on his feet, his knees and legs shaking and knocking against each other in the process.

"You're adapting and growing too quickly. Which is worrying in and out of itself for a vampire like me. But as your teacher I have this very annoying feeling of pride that it is by my effort you have gotten to this stage. It would be harder to catch up to my strength now, it would take longer to match the new percentages as I've raised it to 15%. By my estimate and your rate of growth it would take you another month.

But that is progress. Another three years then you can be as strong as I am, plus just like vampires Weres grow stronger with age. So my estimate might not even be spot on. However, I still think it's a folly choosing a longsword as a primary weapon, you're not doing your raw and unfiltered power enough justice. It would have been better if it was a spear, but since that is your choice for a secondary weapon I'm relived a bit. But why the fuck! Would you choose shields as tertiary weapons?"

Asd chuckled. Neither he nor her will admit outside of the confines of this prison of his, but they had developed an unsteady friendship and grudging respect for each other. It was annoying to think about, but two weeks of getting the crap beaten out of him had made him like the improper and crass vampire teacher. And even worse when he discovered that she was also a noble, she reminded him a bit of Rhea who did not care about proper status and could relate with everyone around her equally; slave or freeman. At the thought of Rhea, he frowned before he answered Chelsea.

"I told you it's not longswords but all swords and in both hands too. I'm just working my way up from the lightest to the heaviest. I'm not fond of having my hands empty, and a sword and shield is not my style so two longswords, then two broadswords, then two great swords, then two buster swords. The skill of a spear requires two hands, but eventually will aim to master wielding two spears. As for the shields, same reason of not wanting my other hand empty, and only focusing on attack would leave me open. But focusing on defense that can be adapted according to the situation gives new light to the meaning Defense is the best Offense. So I have all this thought out Professor Chelsea."

"is that so? Well be that as it may I feel you're biting off more than you can chew. Sure Weres are long-lived, but you won't live past 300 years old, and if you have a good enough achievement in magic you can live to at least a thousand. But don't count on it. This world is not rigged to serve the Beast people. So the better thing to do would be to narrow your focus and get significant gains in a particular craft that would ultimately help you more than spreading yourself so thin." Professor Chelsea said as she looked at Asd with a pensive look on her face.

"If I didn't know any better I would say that you're worried about me. Is the bloodsucking leech feeling pity for the unfortunate beast she has to train? Save it! I can take care of myself." He said to her and turned to leave the cave were that had excavated for their training. All he felt was her hand around the back of his neck, before a force more powerful than anything he has ever felt dragged him backwards and threw him to the wall in the blink of an eye. He felt no less than four ribs break, as his vison went white with pain and blood was forced out of his mouth.

"I tend to forget that you're nothing more than animal that knows no better than to bite the hand that feeds him. Stay there and stew in the pain you're feeling right now, maybe it would teach you I'm not to be fucked with Beast! And prepare yourself, you would be leaving the academy tonight to carry out a task, the extra pain should make it quite interesting."

Asd blinked his eyes rapidly as he couldn't fathom what just happened, the words he just said was into his mind and out of his mouth in seconds before he could even comprehend what he had just said. He sighed, he didn't even know when he said it, but he could guess whose influence would have pushed such a thought out in the open. His Inner Lion did not like vampires, and this lion was still him in a manner of speaking...guess whatever friendship was brewing just got thrown out the drain. But no matter he was leaving the academy on a mission.... that ought to be interesting…. if he doesn't die from the pain first.

"Arrghhhhhh! Fuck!"
