Thana looked at her reflection and could only question whether all of what's happening is real. Maybe she's still stuck in a dream, unable to wake up. Because how else would Adelaide's face replace Thana's at that very moment. The people that she noticed staring at her would prove that she was not in a dream.
There's also too much detail for this to be a dream.
Thana wanted to ask the young girl assisting her with her hat to pinch her so she could wake from her possible slumber, but that would most probably only make her seem stranger.
She could not stop herself from asking, "this really is my face right now? louder than she had expected. Thana only wanted to ask herself that question through her mind, but she didn't know it would happen to be in verbal words.
