The morning classes were finally over, and the students were relieved to have a break. Pan An, the professor, dismissed his class and made his way out of the classroom, carrying his lunch box. He was headed towards the library where he had planned to have lunch with Wang Fang, the chief librarian.
As he walked towards the library, he noticed that some of his students, Shu Xian, Zhang Ren, and Shi Lian were also leaving their classroom. They noticed their professor and walked up to him, curious about where he was going with his lunch box.
Shi Lian and Zhang Ren couldn't help but ask Shu Xian about their professor's destination. She informed them that he was going to the library to have lunch with Wang Fang to discuss breaking off their engagement.
This revelation surprised Shi Lian and Zhang Ren. They knew from Shu Xian's brief story a while ago that they intend to break off the engagement, but they didn't expect that it would be this soon.
