"Oh, no worries, Zhong Li," Shu Xian said, taking another bite of her ravioli and spoke. "What's up?"
"Well…"
There was silence for a few seconds. With a sigh heard from the other end of the call, Shu Xian's eyes widened in surprise as what he said next was something that she had never expected.
"We've never spoken on the phone before, but I was wondering—since I have always thought about it… if you'd like to go out to dinner with me tomorrow night after your class and duty in the university?"
Shu Xian sat in her small apartment, her phone still in her hand as she tried to process what had just happened. Zhong Li had called her, asked her out to dinner, and she didn't know whether to agree or not.
She couldn't believe it. They had never even spoken before, and now he was asking her out on a date.
She sat there for a few moments, lost in thought, before she finally shook herself out of it and then stayed quiet for a few seconds.
