After half an hour of driving, we finally pull up on a dirt lone road. Slowly driving up the windy road there are no trees around us just fields for miles.
I sit up straighter slightly letting go of my hold on Jensen, I look around and when I lift my head my breath stops. Being so long in the den and forest you don't get a proper clear View of the stars. But here? They're so clear and shine so brightly that I'm dazzled looking at them. People take them for granted I would love nothing more than to spend a night completely under the stars, except it's dangerous being out so late, plus lee thinks it's a stupid idea. I'm not brave enough to go it alone so I haven't seen them as beautiful as they are right now. I sense of peace fills me looking up and one bright star twinkles at me.
I see you little star.
I'm so engrossed I don't notice we pull up until Jensen turns off the bike and gets off, Reluctantly pulling my eyes away from the sky I get off the bike and take off the helmet.
"I want a bike one day, " I tell him.
"Oh yeah?" he questions, "what kind?"
"Mmm, " I tap my chin thinking, "I like your one."
"Mine is cool, but if I had to pick I would love to have the 1987 Suzuki"
"Why Dont you get one then?" I ask confused.
"They're not so easy to get kid, but if one ever comes up I'm buying it,"
"Well," I turn to face him, "If I ever see one I'll buy and give it to you. Looks like I owe you now anyway. " I tease.
I push my hair out of my face that's came loose from the ponytail, I hold out the helmet and My eyes connect with Jensens and he's looking oddly at me, frowning I cross my arms before calling him out.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Jensens expression changes quickly and he mimics me crossing his arms, "Did you get the phone?"
I don't answer straight away, instead I decide to look over at his house. Well...what?
I Don't know what I expected but it certainly wasn't this. A house well not a exactly a house but a one-story glass building is in front of me.
It's white with cream lights outside and grey steps learning to a mahogany door, but that's not the best part. Looking towards the side I see a swing that looks off into the View of the stars.
"Wow." I gasp looking around. "This is where you live?" I ask not quite believing it.
"Yeah, remember my friends I introduced you to?" I nod my confirming I remember them. "They live with me so it's our house, not just mine."
"It's amazing," I tell him truthfully looking back at the swing.
"I Suppose, come on let's get you inside and get lee."
My face reddens with the reminder of what lee did and why I'm in this situatin.
"I Don't want to speak with him right now," I tell Jensen crossing my arms and stomping my leg, Yeah I'm being childish but lee deserves it.
I see him trying to fight a smile but he just blows out a breath before looking up at the sky.
"It's freezing out here, and besides he's probably wasted, the guys are drinking and your friend seems to...like a party."
My face drains and I drop my arms at my sides, "He is?"
Jensen turns his face to me when he senses my tone, his eyebrow furrows and he turns giving me his full attention.
"You Don't like your friend drinking that much, do you?" he says to me as a statement not a question.
"Not really," I answer truthfully. That's a small way of putting it, considering me and lee had a huge argument over him getting drunk and leaving me.
"Okay, let's go in and get him, will you give me a lift home? I don't know where I am but it must be miles from my place."
Jensen steps forward taken my hand into his and giving me a reassurance squeeze.
"Your Friend lee, does he always grab you like that.." Jensen's eyes are directed onto my arm where lee was squeezing earlier. I hesitate to talk about it but, maybe talking to him wouldn't be so bad.
"No...but lately he's been drinking more, and our arguments are getting more heated and he's grabbed me a few times but," I look up at his eyes that are now pinned on mine. "He's never hurt me. Lee is my everything and I am his, we would never hurt one another."
He's searching my face for any traces of lying but he won't find it.
Lee wouldn't hurt me.
"Okay," nodding his head satisfied with my answer he pulls on my hand walking up to the door of the house.
He turns the handle opening the door before tugging me in letting go of my hand and closing it. The first thing that hits me is how warm it is, the next is how clean and beautiful it is inside.
White walls with black flooring cover the open space in front of me, there are no doors and everything is opened planned making it I can see into every room. The windows are covered with long blinds but I think they connect and go all the way around.
"This is amazing."I blurt out. Jensen chuckles and comes to stand beside me.
"You should see what it will look like tomorrow after the guys are finished partying."
I laugh a little and swing around to face him again, "So if everybody is partying, where are they?"
I look around but there's no sign of anyone. I know I said I trust him and I do. To a point.
But I'm nervous. Being around men in general except lee, and even then I have to fight my instincts not to be weary or question him. Jensen frowns down at me wondering why my tone is accusing even if there's nothing to accuse him of.
"What's wrong?" he asks me.
"Nothing," I lie quickly crossing my arms.
"Your, not a very good liar, kid."
"I'm not lying-" I don't even bother to finish that sentence with the look he's giving me.
"Uh, fine" I admit throwing up my arms, "I Don't trust people okay, and I know you haven't done anything but-"
"I get it kid." he cuts me off before I finish, "I'm not trusting of others very much either."
A silence falls over us but it's not an uncomfortable one, it's an understanding one.
"Jensen, you back man?" shouts somebody from behind making me jump and spin around. It happens so fast I don't notice I've backed up and bumped into Jensen until his hand touches my shoulder.
"Shit man, some warning next time," says Jensen shaking his head at his friend before looking down at me. "I swear that guy was a ninja in his past life."
He says it so seriously I can't help but laugh,
"Oh, haha," says his friend who then comes right over to stand in front of me.
"Hi I'm Ryan, and who are you?" he says raking his eyes up and down me, I go to try and step back but Jensen pulls me into his side before glaring at his friend Ryan.
"Fuck off Ryan, she's only fifteen," he tells him and his eyes go wide.
"Fuck, I didn't know," he half yells taking steps away from us, "Sorry kid."
He turns and bolts from the room so fast if I wasn't looking I would have missed it.
"You have some very weird friends, " I comment.
"You're telling me," He mutters and steps away from me, "Let's go and get your friend lee"
I nod my head and follow him through the house, heading in the direction his friend Ryan was. We walk along a hallway that has doors and Jensen stops at one.
Opening the door he ushers me in first before coming behind me and closing it, we descend the steps and Jensen goes in front. I follow him until we come to another door. I faintly hear loud noises and people talking.
Guess this is where they're partying.
Opening this door I walk past him and enter the room. But this isn't any ordinary room this is,
Something else.
A bar searches across one wall of the room with liquor covering every inch behind it with chairs that sit in front of the bar, with people sitting on them.
Two long couches that are bigger than my home line across the other wall, again, full of men and women.
Multiple color lights flash above my head and with the music it looks like I've walked right into a club. It's dark but not enough I can't make out everybody, dragging my eyes around I spot lee in the Connor kissing a girl.
Eww.
Scrunching up my nose, I look away from him and turn to look up at Jensen who I didn't notice is watching me carefully.
"Jensen, can I go back upstairs and you can get lee for me? This isn't my scene and I'm not comfortable being here." I try and keep the anxiety out of my voice but I can't help it. I don't mind parties but everyone here is a lot older than me and lee, they could be into something bad.
See told you.
Trust issues.
"No one is going to hurt you here Adria, I promise okay?" he looks so sincere it's hard not to believe him.
Biting my lip I look around not knowing what to do.
"I'll tell you what," he steps closer and I turn back to him and look up, "let me introduce you to everyone and if anybody here makes you feel uncomfortable, I'll take you home straight away."
Why is it every time I look into this guy's eyes I agree with everything he says? I nod my head and a smile lights up his face. Grabbing my hand he leads me over to the table that sits on its own.
Huh, I never noticed when I came in.
Mostly hiding in the dark a large table with seats surrounding it, I squeeze his hand harder and do it right back understanding that I'm nervous.
In such a short amount of time Jensen seems to understand some things about me and I'm not sure how I feel about it. Arriving at the table Jensen moves to the two empty seats gesturing for me to sit.
I do and look around the table at everyone, I recognize some of them but not everybody.
"Guys, this is Adria," he waves his hand at me, "first of all she's fifteen, second she's a friend so show some respect."
He looks away from them and turns to me,
"Adria, unfortunately, these are my friends, " he waves his hand again to them and I look with a smile on my lips.
"Hey sweetheart, I'm Derek, " says a big guy with a beard and hair almost the length of mine. I've never seen a man with such long hair before.
"Hello," I say trying not to let my nerves show, the big guy smiles and one by everybody introduces themselves.
"Hi I'm brandy, so nice to meet yeah," says a woman who leans over the table to me.
"Nice to meet you-"
"I keep trying to tell you she's jailbait bro,"
I look up as sam pulls out a chair, sitting down he takes a drink of his beer his eyes connecting to mine.
"Why do you keep calling me that?" I decided to ask him. "Is it because of what I do? Are you scared I'm going to get you into trouble with the police?" For a beat Sam doesn't do anything just watches me, it's not until the big guy Derek gives out a belly laugh that I look away for sam.
"This is going to be fun."
Before I know it a few hours pass and I'm laughing drinking a soda, talking to everybody, who happen to be very nice and amusing. Lee still wasn't moved from his spot with that girl and I'm not meaning to keep glancing over, but is it wrong to be a little annoyed he hasn't noticed I'm here. For all, he knows I could still be in the woods. Asshole.
"It's annoying you didn't manage to get that phone tonight, he's probably going to be extra careful from now on."
I pull my eyes from lee and turn to Jensen,
"Sorry What?" I ask him.
"Not getting that phone, "he repeats, "its a shame you never managed too"
"Who said I didn't?" I smirk drilling my fingers on the table. He freezes halfway through drinking his beer narrowing his eyes on me, slowly lowering his drink he puts it on the table and rests his arms in front of him.
"Did you?" he says not believing me.
I roll my eyes and fish out the device from my jacket. Pulling out a shiny black smartphone I hold it up in the air for him to see. Jensen stairs shocked at me, looking around the table everybody has their mouths open.
"What?" I ask them confused. Did they believe I never got it?
"How?" says Sam, "You bumped into him for five seconds. At most. How the fuck did you get that?" Everybody generally looks at me like I've got two heads.
"Erm, I just did." I say almost like a question, "ooh, " I jump remembering what else I've got. Pulling out his wallet and watch I hold them up.
"I took these too,"
For about ten seconds no one moves or blinks, but it's sam who throws his head back and let's out a loud laugh. In a blink everybody at the table is howling with laughter expect Jensen. Who's looking at me with a look I'm not familiar with? Pride? Respect?
My cheeks flame and I have to pull my eyes away and clear my throat.
"Yeah, it wasn't that hard," I confess and thrust out the wallet and phone to Jensen. But not the watch.
That's mine.
As if I'm going to run away with it he very slowly takes it out of my hands before handing it straight over to his friend Jax.
Still laughing he takes it out of Jensen's hands and stands up, "Your something else kid," he says smiling as he walks away leaving us. I turn back to Jensen to ask him what he meant but I'm interrupted.
"What the fuck are you doing here?" shouts lee who's marching towards me. I flinch at how loud his voice is and turn my head to scowl at him, hating how he's causing a scene. Again.
He rounds everybody coming straight to me, grabbing my bicep he hurls me from the table and I stagger into him almost losing my footing.
"We are going home now." he firmly states spitting at me, but I can't focus on that right now because of his eyes, there gigantic and instantly I know something wrong.
"Lee?" I question him fear on my face because I know that look in his eyes. It still haunts me to this day.
He doesn't have a chance to reply before I'm ripped away and thrown into someone behind me, another body stands in front blocking my view.
"This is your last warning boy," says Jensen his voice is hard and cold causing the hair to stand on my neck, "Do not touch her like that again." His tones so chilling and deadly I'm glad I'm not facing him, looking up to see who has me, Sam's eyes are directed at lee and Jensen.
"Who do you even think you are? Adria is mine, why the fuck are you even around her. She's fifteen!." Shouts lee squaring up to Jensen.
"I'm going to ignore what your insinuating there, but one more word like that again and I will knock your teeth down the back of your throat Boy," he warns lee emphasizing the word boy.
The atmosphere crackles around them and I watch as lee flicks his eyes to Jensen, "Call me a boy again, and I'll break your fucking face."
Deciding that it's time to leave, I shrug myself out sam's hold and he lets me go. Rounding around Jensen I put my hand on lee's arm.
"Lee, can we just go. Please" I beg him. He Burgundy rips his eyes from Jensen down to me. I have to look away from him, his eyes are too haunting to look at right now.
"We leave now, Adria." with look of disgust towards Jensen he takes my hand and pulls me along the room in front of everyone. I'm so embarrassed that I Imaging, many ways I'm going to kill lee tonight.
Opening the door he pushes me out and slams it so hard behind him that I fight not to jump.
Still holding my hand he drags me up the stairs and through Jensen's house until we both are outside.
Going down the steps I've had enough and tear my hand out if his making us both halt.
"What the hell are you doing, lee?" I cry out.
"Don't you dare start with that, more of a question of, what the fuck are you doing Adria!" he yells throwing up his hands.
"I told you to stay away from him, you were supposed to go back home, why the fuck did you come here?"
"What is wrong with you? Jensen brought me here to come and get you lee! I'm not doing anything wrong he's my friend-
"I'm your fucking friend-" he screams making me flinch and step back from him. "Me. Not him. So pick right now Adria, me or him because I won't stand back and let him swoop in and take you from me."
I pause to look up at my best friend, I was too angry to see it but fear is coating him.
He's afraid I'm going to leave,
I feel ashamed of myself all of a sudden for doing this to him.
"Lee,I'm never going to leave you," I softly say, "Jensens just my friend, nobody will take me from you-"
"Then pick me and Don't talk to him again, " he still roars." That's the deal princess, me or him."
I open my mouth but close it again. I don't want to answer that.
"Lee-" I try and say but he shouts again.
"No!, I or he pick right now or I leave and you will never see me again."
I'm so in shock that I Don't answer him right away. And it hurts that the one friend I made outside of lee has him reacting like this. He's supposed to be my best friend but friends shouldn't do this to one another. I really did like Jensen and his friends, and I think lee did too but I have no idea why he would react the way he has.
"Well, pick Adria or I swear to God-"
"You know who I pick lee," I whisper emotion clogging my voice but it's loud enough for lee to hear. Finally, he verbally relaxes and a sinister smirk plays on his lips when his eyes look at something behind me.
I know immediately who he's looking at but I Don't bother to look around.
"And that right there, is why she's mine and not yours, " he spits. With a shake of his head, he turns around giving me his back and starts walking away.
"Now Adria," he snaps not looking back to see if I'm following.
"Lee, we can't walk it's miles away-"
"I Don't give a fuck, move it now." Unusually I argue back when he talks to me like that but I just dont have it in me right now.
I start to follow him but two body's come around stopping me. Jensen's eyes look down at me with sympathy and concern and Sam stands beside him, looking over at lee who's still marching away.
"You Don't need to go with him," says Jensen, "He shouldn't talk to you like that Adria,"
I look away and move to the side out of his hold, he lets me go but I sense he's not happy about it.
Stepping around him and sam and continue forward I pause and take one last look at him.
His blue eyes are focused on me and if I had to guess I would say Jensen was upset.
"See you around mister," I say with a small smile and walk away leaving what would've been a really good group of friends behind.
