Chapter 8 - I want to live!

"You bastard," Hecathe cursed as he felt the pain sink in.

Marvin chuckled as he commented, "What's this? I seem to have missed."

Hecathe looked up at his face and couldn't help but be annoyed. This man had missed on purpose! He was aiming for the shoulder because he wanted to make Hecathe suffer even if it was just for a little while.

The girl wearing a cloak who was sitting on one of the thrones suddenly chuckled as she heard this, "Marvin Orgon, it's my first time seeing you miss your target."

Marvin glanced at her and smiled thinly, not saying anything as a response.

The girl also seemed to have noticed that it was on purpose so she asked, "You won't miss the second time, will you? Or are you having second thoughts about sparing your dear friend?"

Marvin nodded his head as he glanced back at Hecathe and raised his gun again, "I definitely won't miss and my father never taught me to have second thoughts."

The girl seemed to be satisfied with this response as she commented, "Death shall be avenged with death. Fairness shall see no title. With the three willows of spring, our land shall not forgive sinners!" She smirked before adding, "Even if the wrongdoer is your friend, you cannot forget this."

Marvin nodded once again and for some reason, Hecathe couldn't help but feel that this man was a bit dissatisfied to hear her.

"I shall not dare forget it," Marvin responded as he shut his one eye and focused on aiming for Hecathe's head this time.

Hecathe's face was red and his veins were bulging in anger and pain.

He looked at Marvin and this time, he was sure that this man wasn't going to miss his aim.

If this shot lands its intended target, Hecathe would surely be dead.

'Hecathe, the Zelium Legend: shot to death by a weird cult.'

Hecathe could already guess what the headlines of the morning newspapers would be like.

Marvin put a little pressure on the trigger and Hecathe could not close his eyes as the small sense of fear grounded itself in his mind.

He didn't want to die yet. He really didn't want to die!

Suddenly there was another sound of a gunshot and following just a second later was the sound of the gunshot from Marvin's gun.

Two guns fired at the same time. One hit the intended target while the other was forced to miss.

Hecathe's eyes went wide as he saw the scene.

Someone actually saved him by shooting Marvin's arm and due to this, Marvin's aim had been disrupted and the bullet that was supposed to shoot through Hecathe's head now penetrated the iron pillar that he was tied to.

After a whole minute, when the shock finally sunk in, Hecathe reluctantly turned his head to look at the hole beside him. The hole in the iron pillar emitted smoke caused by the heat of the bullet and a few sparks of green lightning that Hecathe hadn't noticed, however, for Hecathe, the most shocking thing was the fact that his initial guess had been right.

The gun used was no normal gun since it didn't actually have a 'bullet'.

The three willows of spring who sat on their thrones immediately stood up as they saw this.

"What is going on?!" The long silver-haired man who was wearing a heavy mecha suit exclaimed with a dark expression on his face.

The girl's lips curled up in a smirk but there was no happiness in her voice as she questioned out, "Who in the world would dare disturb us?!"

Hecathe's eyes looked at Marvin, who was clutching onto his right arm that had been shot. His face looked to be constipated as he glared in the direction from where the bullet had come from and his arm that was shot looked to be covered in purple smoke of some kind.

Weird...

Really weird...

Hecathe was breathing heavily because of the pain, confusion, and shock as he slowly followed Marvin's line of sight.

There was a man standing there with his gun aimed at Marvin. He looked to be completely fearless. His head was covered with a black helmet and he was wearing a huge black-colored mecha suit that completely protected his body. He looked to be strong and yet at the same time, Hecathe couldn't help but cringe as he wondered what comic-con this man came out of.

Following behind was a rather huge group of people that looked just like him, with their whole bodies covered in mecha suits and their faces completely hidden by their helmets.

Marvin gritted his teeth as he cursed in a low voice, "Damn it..."

The fight that broke out next was to be expected. Some of the people who were here just to watch Hecathe be killed ran away from the place in fear of their own lives and some stayed behind to fight against this new group of people who had attacked them first.

Hecathe had his hands tied and it wasn't like he was on either side of this fight, hence when the fight started, he was the least interested to know who wins, but this didn't mean he wasn't worried though.

He was worried that he might also get affected by this fight. What if someone's weird bullet misses and hits Hecathe instead?! That'll be the worst way for him to go out!

Hecathe tried his best to ignore the intense pain emitting from his shoulder as he struggled to get out of the constraints.

It was truly useless for him to try this, but it was better than nothing.

It was better to try than to just sit there and wait for someone to come and kill him by mistake.

The three willows of spring were agitated and without any sense of hesitation, they joined the fight. The battle grew intense, however, Hecathe paid it no mind.

All he could think and worry about was his own self. He needed to get out of here and he needed to contact the cops as soon as possible. There was a reason why authorities and laws existed in this world! Hecathe couldn't believe that such crazy people existed, but now that he had the first-hand experience with them, he would not hesitate to contact the authorities and take legal action against them.

In the midst of all the commotion, Hecathe suddenly saw the black mecha-suited man walk over to him calmly.

The man was calm, but Hecathe was in no manner near calm as he saw this.

No...

Don't come here!

Don't you dare come here!!

Hecathe tried his best to escape and ignored the man that was approaching him calmly.

The man aimed his gun at Hecathe and for a second there, Hecathe could see the doorway to hell being opened for him. He almost met the grim reaper that was waiting to collect his soul!

He immediately shut his eyes tight as he prayed for one last time.

'God! If this is the end... Please make sure that my mother can live fine without me.'

He thought that this might as well be his last few wishes.

'Help Azazel find a girlfriend.'

'Let Zelium industries find a man who can at least be half as competent as me.'

'May the Zelium sources of our competitors be burned to ashes, never to be saved!'

He suddenly heard the loud 'bang' of the gun and his heart almost stopped beating, however, a minute passed and all he could feel was his right arm feeling free.

He immediately opened his eyes as he looked down at himself, trying to find the bullet that should have been embedded in him, but except for the injury on his shoulder, there was no other bullet wound and there was no other area of his body that felt pain.

He looked up at the man in confusion and then slowly turned his head to glance at his right hand that was now free from the constraints and was covered in some sort of faint green lightning.

"Captain Alphius, it is me." The man's voice was filled with delight as he exclaimed.

Hecathe rotated his wrist that was stinging now and looked back at the man as he frowned and asked, "And who exactly is 'me' supposed to be?"

His tone of speech didn't seem kind at all, but that was just how Hecathe was. He wasn't being unfriendly or rude on purpose, he just sounded like that. However, even though he didn't sound too pleased, the man remained just as happy as he shot the metal cuffs on Hecathe's other hand and freed him.

Hecathe couldn't help but be shocked as he saw the 'bullet' covering the constrains on his hand and perfectly breaking them, leaving behind nothing more than faint green lightning.

Weird...

Really weird but Hecathe simple thought that maybe this was some sort of new technology that he was yet to be aware of.

"It is my honor to save you, Captain!" The man beamed as he shot the restraints on Hecathe's legs.

Hecathe frowned as he immediately grabbed onto his shoulder and put some pressure on the bullet wound caused by Marvin's gun, "I have no idea who you are."

The man seemed to be stunned for a second as he took off his helmet and showed Hecathe his face, "Captain, it is me!"

The frown on Hecathe's face only deepened as he saw the wide enthusiastic smile on the man's face.

He really looked like a madman.

Hecathe shook his head as he mumbled, "I see... You are you. Such a clear understanding of your own identity. Great to know!"

He was being sarcastic, but the man seemed to have misinterpreted Hecathe.

He immediately smiled brightly as he put his helmet back on and commented, "I was almost afraid that captain won't recognize me. It's so good to know that you still remember my face."

"..." Hecathe couldn't help but sigh as he shook his head and thought.

Why am I the only one encountering such crazy people?!
