Chereads / The Legendary Pseudo-villain / Chapter 12 - Who are you?!

Chapter 12 - Who are you?!

Hecathe sighed as he finally gave up trying to figure out why his hands looked so different.

He decided to look around the room instead and searched for the washroom which was weirdly easy to find.

There was already a towel hanging on the door of the bathroom and hence it was one thing less that Hecathe needed to find.

Without wasting any further time, he decided to take a shower that he hadn't been able to take for the last two days.

The water was cold but it was refreshing and it relaxed him just a bit.

He tried his best not to let the water touch his wound that had been freshly wrapped up.

He still had no idea what was happening but he was sure that if he acted calmly and used his brain to get out of this situation, he would surely be able to go back.

While showering, he couldn't help but feel that his body looked and felt weird.

Really... Really weird... And small... Something was definitely smaller than it used to be...

His skin also looked to be a lot paler.

His eyebrows creased together in confusion as he saw this and he could not think up of anything that might have caused such a drastic change.

He stared down at himself for a solid minute before jolting up as he ran towards the mirror that was covered in fog.

No...

No.

No!

This was not it!

This was definitely not it!

The mirror was covered with fog making it blurry. Hecathe took a sharp breath in as he immediately raised his hand to wipe the mirror and then looked at himself.

"No way... This mirror has to be broken...?" He muttered to himself as he saw the reflection in the mirror.

He wiped it again but the man that stared back at him from the mirror had the same face as before and it was certainly not Hecathe's face.

Hecathe kept on staring at it for a solid minute before he broke out laughing, "Is this some kind of hidden camera prank?"

His laughing grew weaker and weaker as he lifted his head to look at the reflection again, "Oh sh*t...."

It was the only thing he could mutter out as he realized that the mirror wasn't broken and there was no way this was all a hidden camera prank.

He took a sharp breath in as he grabbed his face and tried to pull it and pinch it, trying to make sure that the face was really his.

"What the actual hell?!" He cried out as the shock sunk in.

He gulped as he took a minute to rewind everything that had happened to him.

He was going home from the meeting to take his phone, but his phone turned out to be in his car. He got a text message from Azazel and his precious car got hit by a truck. He then woke up and realized that he had been kidnaped by some weird people who dressed as if they were part of a comic and then... Wait...!

Hecathe's eyes went wide as he finally got a hint of what the real situation might have been.

I got hit by a truck...!

Hecathe looked down at his body and tapped around to see if he had any wounds and just as expected, there were no wounds on his body.

The only wound he had was the bullet wound on his shoulder that had already been treated.

He snapped his head up again and asked the reflection in the mirror, "I'm dead... Aren't I?"

The reflection in the mirror naturally didn't give him a response.

Hecathe felt his mind go blank as he saw his whole life once again flash before his eyes.

I'm dead...

I'm dead.....?

I'm really dead....?!

Me?

The Zelium Legend... Died?

It was a feeling that he couldn't explain.

For the first time in his life, he finally understood what it felt like to suffer through a short-circuit in his brain.

"What the hell?!?!" He shouted out with his head lowered, not even daring to look up at his reflection.

"I'm dead?! I'm really dead?!" He started pacing around the bathroom in a circle.

"I can't be dead... I-I'm breathing right now, aren't I? I'm alive!" He stopped and glared at the mirror once again.

"You! Who the hell are you?!" He questioned the reflection that gave him no response.

He held his breath in for a minute before sighing as he muttered, "I can't believe it..."

In the next minute, he started laughing like a maniac. He felt as if all of this was a big joke and he was the epicenter of this joke.

When he was done laughing his throat out, he coughed for a few minutes.

He lifted his head up again and looked at his new reflection, "Well... At least you're handsome. I'll give you that"

That was the only bright side of this whole situation.

"I can't believe it. Did I die and change bodies? That's the only possible case, is it not?!" He scoffed as he added, "Maybe God took pity on me and decided to give me another chance at life?"

He clapped his hand as he exclaimed, "That must be it! It would be a waste for me to simply die like that!"

He clenched his fist as he finally decided to accept it.

He took another sharp breath in as he asked, "So you're Captain Alphius?"

Hecathe chuckled as he grabbed his chin and twisted his head to take a good look at his face.

It was young. A lot younger than Hecathe, in fact, this man looked to be around the same age as Marvin.

"Hmm..." Hecathe sighed as he tried to ignore the fact that he was now dead and tried to focus on the positive side of the situation.

The positive side...

He took a good look at this face before he finally found one positive side about his situation, "I think I just got my youth back."

He straightened his back as he pondered more about this.

"That's right...! My precious youth!" Hecathe laughed as his face suddenly lit up with excitement, "How many people in the world get such a second chance at life? How many are lucky enough to have such luck? If I think about it, isn't this a really great chance?"

He looked at himself in the mirror and saw his lips curl up in a smile, "I'm a really lucky bastard."

Most of Hecathe's youth was spent on him trying to gain more business experience. Both his parents were always strict with him. He grew up according to their desires and expectations. Hence, it was only natural that he never got out to learn more about life or do anything that could be considered fun or rebellious.

Ever since he was born, he was raised to be a ruthless and powerful businessman; raised to be a tyrant.

Although Hecathe never had a problem with it, he still regretted not enjoying his youth while it lasted.

Now that he got his youth back, it could be considered as a second chance in life.

But... No matter how much he tried to focus on the positive aspect of the situation, there was still something that was bugging him.

"If I really transmigrated, shouldn't I get a system that gives me missions and stuff?" Hecathe muttered to himself in confusion, "What exactly am I supposed to do here?!"
