With immense power came immense responsibilities. The one who has the power to save humanity, would also have the power to destroy humanity.
How could the people rest assured knowing that there was such a person?
With the death of the three Zelium water elemental users, people's opinions on Alphius Edler changed drastically.
They asked him how he considered a person worthy of owning a mecha suit and to that, he confidently shrugged his shoulder and responded, "Nobody can be sure if you're worthy enough. I just give people what they need, not what they necessarily deserve. I give them a place to belong in this society, I don't guide them and show them what's right or wrong."
People who called themselves a part of the righteous movement grew angered as they heard this and so they asked another question.
"How can you give them a weapon of mass destruction without making sure that they won't use it for evil?"
Alphius laughed in turn, "Tell me, what is it that you consider evil, and is there a way to guarantee that a person won't turn evil in the future after being proclaimed a hero?"
Everyone was silent as they heard this.
To think that a growing fourteen-year-old had such thoughts was truly shocking and made people wonder.
If he could think like this, who was to guarantee that his thoughts wouldn't evolve into something eviler in the future?
His differentiation in the concept of right or wrong was pretty vaguely defined. Murder was wrong but if you murdered someone who murdered another person, it was considered as vengeance. Stealing was wrong but stealing from a rich man who stole the money of the poor was considered to be righteous.
By inventing the mecha suits for the people without abilities, Alphius wanted to slim down social disparities, however, his invention had only backfired on his beliefs.
Fights between ability users and mecha suits started becoming common and when the mecha suits started winning against the ability users, the social seats of the people shifted.
The Mecha suits started seeing themselves as more powerful and when this got to their heads, they started oppressing the ability users.
Centuries after Centuries of bullying done by ability users had finally shown the aftereffects.
The Mecha men were angry and their anger was directed towards the ability users.
The world changed for the worst and this change was blamed on Alphius who refused to do anything about it.
He had only created a machine, the ones who used it to terrorize people were the ones at fault, however, since he was the one who created it, people naturally held him responsible.
Blaming the one who made the gun instead of the one who used it: This was the mentality of the people here.
Soon, the old system of governance died down and what rose was the reign of the three willows of spring.
The three willows of spring were the strongest ability users in the whole world, hence no one except for the mecha men questioned their supremacy or power.
The three willows of spring tried to suppress the mecha suits once and for all, however, they miserably failed.
The Mecha suits weren't easy to beat and they hated the ability users.
The ability users were also not friendly towards the mecha suits and due to both sides being at such odds, the world was divided.
One side was ruled by the ability users while the other side had no rulers.
By this time around, Alphius had already built a small city under the ground and seemed to be living in peace, devoid of the chaos going on above ground.
Since he was the creator of all the mecha suits, it came as no shock that when people elected someone as their leader, that someone was Alphius Edler. At that time, he was fifteen years old and would've been the youngest ruler this world had ever seen. However, he laughed at their faces and refused to become their leader.
The mecha suited men pestered him for days that turned to weeks and further turned to annoying months. After a few months, Alphius finally gave in to their demand and became their leader who soon got to be tilted as the Captain.
Now that he was officially their leader, he was responsible for whatever the mecha-suited men did. It was a trap that he had knowingly walked into.
One day, one of the three willows of spring came to visit Alphius and this would also be the unfortunate day when the man was killed under the orders of Alphius.
Although the man's little sister soon took her brother's throne as the third willow of spring, the ability users were not happy with the cruel act done by Alphius.
All the man wanted to do was visit him, but Alphius had sent back a beheaded body and a detached head of the man.
People thought their fear was coming true. Alphius was truly a madman who had no sense of right or wrong.
Hecathe could only sigh in frustration when he read this part cause the story known to the outside world was much different from the reality of the situation.
The reason why Alphius killed the man was simply because the man was the one who tried to kill him first. The third willow of spring offered him a drink; a toast to their new budding friendship. Alphius was a stupid boy who easily trusted the man and as a result, he coughed out a mouthful of blood.
The drink was poisoned.
The man looked to really happy as he saw Alphius coughing out blood and in his state of happiness, he blurted out a secret that Alphius should have never heard.
A secret that shook Alphius to the core and made him unable to control his anger.
The man proudly blurted out that the one who killed Hecathe was none other than him.
Alphius only ever had two friends in his life. One was Marvin and the other was Hecathe.
When Alphius heard the man's confession, in a fit of rage, he decided to avenge his friend and beheaded the man right then and there.
The three willows of spring were just starting out and they couldn't afford to go on a war against Alphius who had an army much stronger and hence, even after killing one of the three willows, Alphius was still allowed to go free.
When Hecathe had read this part, he was quite shocked to see his name there, but the shock soon sunk in when he guessed that this was probably the case if the world he was currently in was a parallel universe.
After this incident, it was like something inside Alphius had changed.
He had never been the kind to hate the ability users but this also changed slowly as he uncovered more and more secrets.
He started getting more hungry for power which eventually led to him building more powerful and dangerous weapons. The reason why he wanted to gain power was to protect the ones he cared about but... By the end of it, he realized that the ones he cared about were no longer by his side anymore.
When he looked back at his life, he felt that nothing he did could be justified.
He had only wanted to be the hero but he learned that he had become the villain instead.
The ruthless villain who killed without discrimination.
The three willows of spring set up battalions. They were basically guards who protected the country against the evil minions of Alphius. Different battalions were ranked and given a special name. Their leaders were treated highly in society and were considered powerful.
Nobody knew what happened to Alphius around this time and nobody cared to know as well. They were just glad that the man was no longer on a killing spree. On his orders, the mecha-suits also kept a low profile. He was considered as the God who gave them a second life, and hence, they blindly worshiped him.
It would've been better if the story had ended there, but unfortunately, it didn't.
One of the three willows of spring was one day saved by Alphius and from that day onwards, she claimed to have fallen in love with him. At that time, Alphius was sixteen and the girl was also around the same age as him. If the two could get married, it would be possible for the world to get reunited again, however, this wasn't easy.
Alphius thoroughly ignored the girl and showed no sense of like towards her. He clearly had no interest in her, but the girl wasn't willing to let him go that easily.
What should have turned out as a beautiful love story that reunites the world soon turned into a tragedy that breaks the world even more.
She died and her death was blamed on Alphius who never bothered to clear his name.
The girl who died was actually the sister of the willow that was killed by Alphius and the reason why she followed him was because she wanted to take revenge for her brother, but her plan for revenge backfired on her.
Ironically enough, she mixed up the poisoned drinks and drank it herself instead of giving it to Alphius.
Alphius couldn't even laugh at the ridiculous situation so he didn't bother clearing his name either.
Both the siblings tried to poison him and got their own karma but of course, nobody would ever know this truth.
In her place, there was a new willow of spring who wasn't related to her directly. This new man became the most powerful of the three willows of spring and he brought a lot of new laws.
One of the laws he brought forward included not only all ability users but also non-ability users, a.k.a. the mech-suited men.
This new law stated that if any official from their great nation was killed or attacked by anyone, it would be considered a crime punishable by death. This law was naturally created because of Alphius and the rumors following around him.
What happened next was a bit blurry since Alphius stopped writing in the diary.
The last thing written was about Marvin.
They had grown up together but after Hecathe's death, Marvin and Alphius started drifting apart.
After a big fight, they completely cut ties with each other and Alphius had always regretted it so when he suddenly got a message from Marvin, he was more than happy to do exactly what the guy asked him to do.
He was excited to get his friend back. He wanted to correct the mistakes of the past and thought that if he tried, he could mend their friendship so he did exactly as Marvin had told him to do.
He sneaked out of his office and went to meet Marvin alone...
And the story stopped there.
Although Hecathe coldn't read more, he could guess exactly what had happened afterwards.
Alphius was probably betrayed by Marvin who seemed to believe that the boy killed his father.
If Hecathe remembered it right, Marvin's father was a captain in charge of the silver battalion, a high-ranking official in the government.
According to the law, the murderer should have been sentenced to death which was exactly what happened to Hecathe who woke up in Alphius's body.
"But there's something wrong with this..." Hecathe mumbled as he thought back to what he had read.
The one who killed Orgon wasn't Alphius! In fact, Alphius didn't even know that the man had been killed.
There was clearly a puppet master behind the scenes who had framed Alphius.
Without solid proof, Marvin would never accuse Alphius like that which meant someone had deliberately created false evidence against Alphius.
Hecathe sighed as he rubbed his forehead.
All of this wasn't even the biggest worry he had at the moment.
"What the hell am I supposed to do in this dying world?!"
When someone gets transmigrated into another world, don't they usually have a reason? A mission?
Instead of getting transmigrated as the hero, Hecathe was sent here to role-play the villain!
The villain who wasn't even interested to become the villain!
The villain who had been wronged the most!
Hecathe was now the villain who has no purpose...!!
