Slowly, it seemed like Thomas' soul had left his body and his mind entered in marvelous state that couldn't be easily explained.
In this mysterious state, all the atmospheric energy in the desolate deadlands gathered around the crater forming, dark could and violent storms!
Oblivious to all, Thomas immersed himself in his marvelous state of mind. Ideas were pouring out like droplets of water in a vast ocean.
"I understand now."
Under his will, the demon pears shards scattered across his body were sucked into the heart as a flow of milky white divinity flowed through every energy path in his body.
Now threads of divinity tangled with a mystical seven-colored light as it melted into every corner of his body before heading straight into the golden heart. Following that, a giant pillar of light fell upon his body containing all the atmospheric energy in the deadlands and the pure light of the three suns of Zeira.
All this energy flowing through the energy pathways and went straight into his heart.
Divinity was a mystic form of energy Thomas didn't know much about, it was a higher form of energy than all previous ones he's familiar with but that was all he knew. Yet in this moment he seemed to have comprehended something which gave the inspiration to do this.
The flow of uncontrollable atmospheric energy outside calmed down as Thomas' both eyes opened.
While he didn't grow more powerful, the understanding of his own body and abilities were now leagues beyond what he previously thought he knew about himself.
Right, he already took in all kinds of power into his body, there wasn't a need to bit more than he could chew.
What the thing he gained most of this wasn't a simple upgrade but inspiration. Now, he could digest all the system had given him which in itself would more than double his battle effectiveness.
Directing his senses to the insides of his body, both his hearts seemed to have been through numerous changes.
The changes began with it's color that changed from the holy gold color to a pristine crystal heart devoid of any color and as pure as a clear sky in summer day.
If it's previous looks were deceptive enough, now the heart had grown so pretty and majestic one may even mistake it for the heart of an angel.
But don't be mistaken, as it's commonly known, the most dangerous evil is also the most deceptive one, the fallen angel Lucifer was an example of that.
'Wait, wait a little bit. If beings such as Prometheus, Gaia, Odin and others deities in human mythologies are real, is it possible the Devil is real too...' He didn't think of this previously and now this sense dawned upon him, Thomas felt a little overwhelmed.
He knew very well the mythological tales and many beliefs are certainly inspired on these beings.
And this was clear as many of those stories are nothing but fantasies and he could prove that by watching the memories of Prometheus.
However, he also knew those stories came about become some of those deities cross the realm would appear from time to time.
One example was the Aesir, he didn't synchronize with one of them yet but he once heard from Dike that they originated from another system and found out earth when Odin was going on a meeting with other deities but got lost and ended up finding the solar system instead.
He then got friendly with a group of humans and before long the legend of Odin and the gods of Asgard was born.
Then came Gaia, also known as the planet Mars. Seriously, who would have guessed that.
Yeah, even if he exists, it's bound to be different from what it's told on earth.
After convicting himself there was nothing to worry, Thomas returned his attention to the heart.
This heart carried with it a strange charm capable of inducing negative emotions and thoughts as well a powerful will to destroy everything and anything. The feeling was similar to the one the baleful aura gave but the heart's aura was hundreds, if not thousands of times more potent than that baleful aura.
Just it's presence made him want to involve himself in killing, immersing himself in lust, fulfilling his greed, and displaying his pride to all living beings while trampling them under his feet...
This is really the heart of sin. Thomas thought.
'The Heart of Primordial Sin...' Even that alternate Thomas who seemed to know more about the heart's secrets could stop whatever calamity had fallen upon the world.
At least the origin of the demons became much clear now. Somehow, the heart of an being whose origins lied beyond this universe has crashed on Zeira after the twilight of the gods millions of years ago.
This heart carries the secrets of the primordial sins and when the beats of Zeira came in contact with it, they beings were distorted by the auras of sin.
The seven Ancient Demons of the demon Realm, Pride, Greed, Lust, Envy, Gluttony, Wrath, and Sloth were only some of those corrupted.
The aura of sin was ingrained in the soul of all demons, but with the passing of years that aura grew weaken and so came the demons able to reason more and refrain from pointless fights.
One point that collaborated to his reasoning is the baleful aura that assailed him for months. That kind carried intense hatred, anger, wrath that made him want to see everything in flames. There should also be other kinds of aura, like lust, sloth and greed.
Those who lost themselves to the auras of sin would then become mindless creatures living only for their desires.
Only the heart of sin carried all of the auras on it's own and it's sheer power was greater than the sum of them all combined.
He only thought of demons as a lower lifeform before but now it seemed the ancient demons could be potentially as powerful as some of the deities he knows.
The baleful aura already already brought a lot of problems, but even then it only made him more violent.
He could also feel the heart seemed to recognize him as it's owner since non of it's effects seemed to affect him.
Instead he felt like he was on control of it and could use it to influence others.
However, merging with the Heart of Sin was only the start. Now with the perfect substitute for his demon pearl, it was only a matter of time before he can re-forge his physique into something far greater than before.
