Chereads / The Deity Index System / Chapter 153 - Paradox

Chapter 153 - Paradox

In that instant, on the top layer of the system space where the remnant spirits of the strongest deities in the universe were gathered was fully active.

Here, nine deities whose powers were the greatest in all planes were feeling complicated. Seven of them were the ones previously watching Thomas fighting the baleful aura and bringing forth his six-colored soul.

Now two more had joined them and watched the scene in the outside world, feeling baffled by the developing situation.

It was to be know that the nine of them were the supreme deities of the universe, standing to the utmost peak of existence and in change of all celestial and mortal lives down bellow.

As for the reason for their shock, it is the energy contained within the golden heart. There were laws engraved in it, laws that couldn't belong to this universe and the same power was now interacting with Thomas.

...

Clouds composed of the most pure demonic energy covered all sunlight, encasing the world bellow in shadows.

A young man was lying on the cold rock next to the debris of a earthen spaceship. Do not mistaken, he was already awake for over a day yet his body remained unmoving, and his eyes, without any will to live.

How could he even find the will to live after all that transposed, the world as he knew was gone, his friends and family fell by the demon forces and even his last remaining family member, his mom and raised him since he was five had just passed away in the crash.

Now, he's in the land of the creatures who robed him of everything but as a weak 2-star Adept, could he even put on a fight?

The days passed very fast, and soon he realized he couldn't betray his mother's trust in him by waiting silently for his own end. No, he couldn't do that. First he began searching the area surrounding the large crater and he indeed found some edible plants and fruits as well a small pond full of demonic water.

It was very hard at first since almost all vegetation in these land carried intense demonic air to the point of making one faint.

At the end of the third month since his arrival, the boy left the range of the ship for the first time, braving into a new world.

In these three months eating demonic fruits and drinking the corrupted water the young man own figure had changed a lot. In this short timespan, his eyes grew darker and cold, his body was now taller as well but most of all there was a single horn growing on the left side of his head.

Even the anima energy he couldn't replenish anymore due to the increasingly dense demonic air in the atmosphere was now assimilated and tainted by demonic powers, changing along with himself.

He already knew of the changes in his body yet there was nothing he could do, for now revenge was all he had in mind and he was sure to punish the demons even if it turned him into a demon as well.

The journey was very long, no one knew how long he had taken before fading the first city. He first found an easy job and sold herbs he collected in the forest for money at the same time he struggled to learn more about he place he encounter himself in.

Upon looking for answer he found out he was indeed in one of the worlds within the demon realm. Well, it was only a star sector within the milky way the demons called home. Slowly but surely he strengthened himself and grew multiples times faster than back on mars.

One day, he had grown so much even high-rank demons couldn't put on a fight against him. He soon become a very well known figure in that world but that was only until one of the higher ups in the realm found out of his existence.

A newly-ascended Demon King, Arthorias The First, had found his origins and not wanting to let a potential threat grow he went after the youth himself.

Both fought for eleven days until the youth was defeated, he crashed onto a nearby mountain and collapsed onto the ground. Only moments before he was executed, a dimensional storm caught them both off-guard and the youth was taken into the nexus and send out billions of light years away.

Now, arriving at another world, this one devoid of demons, the boy didn't know what to do anymore. Being at a place without any demonic air and where the water tasted as pure he could recall from his long forgotten past.

While this world had no demons, there was no lack of beasts whose sentience and intellect is not a bit weaker than humans. Despite the differences he was accepted by a community of beasts in the continent.

Through some searching he found maps and discovered there is only one continent in this world as well small islands around the continent.

It's size was also not small, in a way, it would be similar in size to the Pangea, a time when all continents on earth were one.

It was in this place he found true peace's in decades, but things would not be in his favor for long. A mysterious wave of dark power erupted from one of the islands in the southern border. This power washed over the world, corrupting anything it touches,

If this wasn't enough, strange rifts identical to the ones appearing on earth had appeared in this world as well. But in this case there was no invaders, instead those rift would appeared only when death appeared and devour the souls of the fallen.

The situation grew worse by the minute and without any alternative, the boy whose power had been steadily growing all this time took the initiative and went to the source of the dark power looking for a way to stop it.

A elegant man looking to be in his mid twenties fought countless mighty shadows in the nexus between worlds.

The might young man's face changed as he fought the millions of black shadows all carrying the power of Anima.

Even so the man was holding fairly well, never losing the control of the fight.

The man fought with everything he had. His long horns grew even further as he swept his tail at the nearest shadows, cutting their bodies in half before their dissolved into shadowy spots.

But most impressive of all was the six-pairs of spectral wings behind his back.

Thomas watched it all while pondering, still thinking on the visions of earth moments before then his eyes stopped on the young man whose whole body was bathing in blood red baleful aura.

He's completely one with it and even his body far survived the level of a demon. The shadows as well seemed way beyond the level of the adept king and even the Demon Emperors. It was on a level so high he couldn't even see their moves properly.

With each of his attacks black clouds split the earth bellow into numerous parts. Soon, the man was victorious, but event he planet he stood on was in the blink of destruction from the fight.

"Urg." The man struggled to maintain himself conscious. It was clear the fight affected him a lot to the pointing of spending over half of his stamina.

An mysterious row of stairs made of the most pure light manifested, but the man didn't get on it yet.

Feeling as if his body could fail at any moment, the man looked up at the sky but what he saw with his eyes went way past the universe itself and delved into chaos.

Even with him ready to sacrifice his everything for his goal, the result was already there for one to see.

Two unique and independent realms amidst chaos had already collided and all worlds were breaking apart, fragments of countless dimensions melded together dissipated into specs of light.

The man's ripped his own chest with his bare hands and pulled out a golden heart. "This is it, the Heart of Primordial Sin, something I found back then just like how you did now. It's a foreign object that the universe doesn't recognize, which made things a lot harder for me. I lost in the end, but I believe this might help you accomplish what I couldn't."

Streams of light merged into Thomas and the young boy was immediately brought back to reality.

The heart was nowhere to be seen, but he could now feel a second heartbeat together with his own. By sending his energy inside his body he could feel it, a second heart had appeared in the same location his own demon pearl had been once.

His mind went blank, for a moment all thoughts inside his mind were gone. His worries disappeared as the entire world seemed to become one with him.
