Chapter 86 - Arthur Kirstein

Alice's old face turn sour, but her voice was as firm as ever. "You ungrateful bastard, don't ever call me master again!"

Seeing as she might pounce on the middle-aged man, William reached out and held her arm. as she was pulled back, she heard William's whisper in her ear. "Don't. Kirstein is not somebody you can beat now."

"Stand down." Said the man, "I'm not looking for a fight. You guys seems to have the scent of the guy I'm looking for, and its strong enough so he must be quite close to you. Giving our past as teacher and student, I will leave as soon you tell me everything the boy you recruited two months ago."

Memories were instantly triggered. She didn't expect the this traitor to return only for Thomas. What could he possibly get from that kid?!

Alice immediately calmed down as she shot a glare at the man in golden clothes and gritted her teeth.

She transmitted her voice to Katherine and the others.

"You three can't stay here, go find the other adepts and bring them here, it's an order!"

Hearing the order, Claire, Katherine, William and Sebastian hesitated before dashing towards the exit to call for help. Surprisingly the man in golden suit, Kirstein didn't stop them and watched as they left, step by step he moved closer to Alice.

"Arthur Kirstein, it's true I may be far below my peak but don't underestimate me." Fighting spirit surged as Alice prepared for what would be her last fight.

The power of a former 3-star Master Adept exploded as she launched towards her former student, attack-attribute anima energy at the tip of her fingers formed threads which further joined together, making a 1,6m long spear.

If the members of Azure Garden had been there, they would be astonished to see the special ability of the master Class Adepts, Materialization. The ability to give physical and solid form to an energy, something few among the Masters were able to learn. It was also the main reason to why weapons for Master Adepts aren't manufactured in large-scale.

As long there is energy in their bodies, an Master Adept with this ability they could create as many weapons as possible and they would be more effect and compatible with the user than any weapon humanity could make. Due to her injuries, her strength reverted back to 3-star Elite Adept, so it was surprising she could still use this ability.

"Haaa!" Advancing, Alice swept her spear towards Arthur . As she was a meter away, a crimson glint surfaced in her eyes.

"Anima Technique: Twice Critical Strike!"

The same technique she used against the azure horned beast. Instead of techniques full of sparkle and shining effects, this one was a true supreme-grade Mystic Technique named Three Critical God Strike. As the second level of the technique, Twice Critical Strike increased attack damage as well each hit being equivalent to two.

Arthur didn't lower his guard and reached out with his hand, grabbing the tip of the spear with his fingers.

Enduring the pain brought by touching the spear, the man smiled gloomily then said. "I understand your hatred, but I don't have time for it."

Waving his hand, a golden wave of mist repelled Alice. She was launched her dozens of meters away onto a tall rock.

SHiiiiing* A layer of pale red light protected her from damage as she slowly got up, yet felt her internal organs crunching in pain. During their fight when most of her foundation was broken, Arthur suffered almost as badly, but even so he was so much stronger than the present her it was scary.

Slowly, she saw the man in gold floating towards her, his eyes were immensely cold as his gaze fell down on her. "It's not for you that I'm here. The one I'm looking for person that caused those clouds to appear."

"Huh?" Alice felt strange force surround her body as she lost total control over it. Against her own will, she saw herself floating towards Arthur, a hand then held a firm grip on her throat.

'Clouds?' Alice recalled the mysterious phenomenon that just happened, but couldn't understand his words. Did somebody caused it to happen?

" Strange, you are protracting somebody that is not even human. Oh, I understand now. Let me tell you something..." In the depths of his eyes burned a pale gold mist, the skies darkened as Alice saw herself sinking in the swirling mist as he whispered in her ear.

"The boy you are looking for is not a human but a demon and truth be told, so am I."

Feeling the Alice shake in his hands, he knew his guesses were right.

No! A female shout was heard before dozens of lights surrounded the two of them. Katherine Shade, as well the rest of the team couldn't find anyone else nearby so they all returned to give Alice their aid.

'No! I told you to leave!' Tears formed around her eyes as she felt emotional about her fellow teammates.

Even though it made her happy, she understood the situation better than anyone else in there. Knowing the enemy's power, Alice did everything she could to try warn then but no matter how hard she tried, no word left her mouth. 'No, they can't beat him.'

Creak*

The man released the grip and Alice fell on the ground, she tried to speak but had no force left as she felt a warm liquid flowing out of her body. Holding her hand up, she felt her lifeforce fade away

"Captain!" "Alice."

All the members of Azure Garden screamed as they tried to get to her, yet, their way was blocked by a sort of invisible wall.

All of them unleashed dozens of Anima Techniques at the Gold-clad Man who stood in the air, emotionless. He didn't even try to dodge or defend himself, even his eyes weren't focused on them as if everyone else wasn't worthy the effort.

The pale gold radiance in his eyes amplified before exiting the center of his eyeballs. Other than Katherine, Claire and the other Azure Garden members were pressed against the ground. Far away, the beasts hiding in the city were watching all of it with curious eyes, for some reason none of them felt confident in fighting that golden human.

'Ahhh!' Claire felt a sharp pain deep within her mind the moment she heard his voice, and her consciousness weakened. Changing places with Clarisse, the latter was laying on the ground.

All of sudden, his eyes wandered across Alice's subordinates before stopping on Clarisse as he felt her change. His eyes lit up. "That one is not pure human, more like a half-spiritual being so she's not the one Master told me about... She also has the mysterious person's smell on her as well and its stronger than in the others so she must know something."

Pointing at the blonde girl, his voice was deep and somber as his asked. "You, tell me who is the person that caused the phenomenon with the clouds?!"

Clarisse tried to resist but it only made the pain in her head stronger. Her eyes were closed as the image of a immature and youthful boy filled her mind.

"She doesn't need to tell you anything!" An orange flash fell in the area drawing, millions of orange water drops filled the area, drawing the attention of both Azure Garden's Adepts and Arthur.

Bright and pure sunlight emanated out of his eyes, fingers as well every single thread of his hair.

Like a summer rain, the sunlight fell upon every single one of teammates including his captain Alice who seemed to be in a critical state.

In less than three seconds, the deathly white face of alice grew colorful once more as every single injure in the bodies of his friends healed.

Everyone there was familiar with this form since it was similar to when Thomas fought the mutant beast in the selection, yet the aura and feeling it gave off was leagues about they could imagine.
