Chapter 68 - Conflict

One hour later in the restaurant of the first floor of the male dormitory's fourth building. A full 15 Male students from Dexia City have gathered here to welcome Thomas and get to know each other! Most of them were talents that were recruited by the various teams in the city.

On the table, Thomas wes happily chatting and drinking with his seniors. Once everything calmed down, Thomas went to the bathroom and returned.

"Phew, they finally let me off." Thomas stood in a corner while taking a sip of his orange juice. Don't take him wrong, he was indeed happy to see all those passionate people coming to talk with him, but it made him slightly uncomfortable.

"Tomorrow is the day the camp will finally start so this is the only day we have to chat and drink without having to worry about anything. Being the only Special-Grade of our city, of course everyone will find you to chat and drink with" One of his seniors, Malek, had his face was slightly red as he held onto a bottle of whiskey, "Also don't you know how expensive this food is?"

Thomas shook his head: "Its true that I haven't tasted anything like it, but it's truly that expensive?"

"What do you think? Today's feast was only a gift from the association before we start the real training camp." Malek lowered his voice and murmured, "However, the chefs the association hired to work here are some of the world's best. Also, many of these dishes were made out of ingredients that could go for 500.000 credits out in the city. With this much food, if we were to eat it outside it would be about 10 million credits."

Thomas blinked twice, his throat getting dry. He didn't think Adept Points were worthy this much. It was then he felt grateful that none of his seniors knew about his daily 1000 AP or he would be screwed.

"See, we are lucky to even eat all this food for free! Oh, I also head we will be having Adepts from earth coming here, I'm curious who they are." Malek continued to drink from his bottle of whiskey and Thomas simply accompanied his seniors while occasionally speaking.

By the time it ended, it was already past 1:00am, everybody headed to the rooms designated to each one as it was indicated in the Wrist Computer.

"Room 13. It should be here." Arriving at a metal door, he confirmed the number on it and pressed his hand on the screen of his wrist computer, unlocking the door.

Because many haven't reported to the camp, the room he was assigned to only had him and a sympatric and burly youth called Marlon.

Once inside, Thomas was surprised by how small it was. It only had the most basic stuff such as beds and one bathroom.

Looking at how small it was, Thomas was grateful to be a special-grade student which means he could look for another place to stay other than the standard dormitory.

As soon he lied on the bed, Thomas cursed for how uncomfortable it felt but he got to sleep anyway

In the morning of the next day, Thomas headed to restaurant in the first floor where he paid 1 Adept Point for the breakfast before him and all other students were sent a notification. "All participants of the training camp must be in the northern wing building 10:20am for a written test."

Thomas did expect for a written test so soon, but then he thought the instructors may be wanting to test their capabilities in all areas instead of just academic or battle situations. Seeing he had several hours, he decided to tour this place a little and see how it looks like.

While walking on the stone paved road, Thomas, in a dark red training suit, saw a platinum-haired, haired youth smile as he walked over.

"My name is Vander Hart, from earth." said the blonde youth passionately.

Earth?

Thomas mumbled to himself, he was told all the students from earth were staying in a separate location so he didn't expect to mean one of them so soo..

"Vander? I see, Nice to meet you." smiled Thomas, as a person who spent most of his life in mars, the homeworld has always been a mystery to him. His only experience in that place is the day of the sky breach which took both his brother and father.

"I've always been curious about the colony of mars and it's the first time I came here." Said the youth while maintaining that friendly smile of his just like he practiced for hundreds of times."I can see from the difficulty of the special test shows the effort the government is putting on this training camp, even I failed miserably and had to rely on my family spot to come here."

"?" Thomas froze. From the way he was speaking, he seemed to know more about the core spots than the other adepts he met.

"I see you are fairly powerful for your age, what do you say we have a friendly match in the arena later?" asked the youth.

"Arena?" The contents map of the training camp immediately came to mind.

The arena was a place where two people could go to test their strength against other people. For ordinary students it was a great place, but for special-grades like him it was a snake den since losing a battle against another adept would mean the loss of his special-grade pass.

"There is four hours before the class so how about we go now?" Said the youth with a smile.

Thomas eyes suddenly shone as the skill spontaneously activated.

'I see, so this is what he wants...'

Thomas then realized just what Vander truly wanted. Once he knew that, Thomas maintained his friendly expression when he saw another person rushing over to them.

"Vander!"

Thomas turned his head and saw beautiful young girl in a purple suit with eyes full of rage. "Vander you asshole, how can you be so shameless on our second day in mars! I know you are looking for a student with special-grade access to take it for yourself. Do you easy it will be easy to steal another man's special-grade access?!"

Apparently, this girl appeared to be an acquaintance of Vander's from earth, and certainly not a friend of his.

Vander's face turned pale as he muttered. "Jane?"
