Chapter 49 - Diving Into The Vortex

When he got back home after delivering Clarisse, Thomas couldn't spot worrying about the people in the institute and the place they were in.

"I must find a way to search for Rodrigar, but I can't go now. I must get stronger." So instead of sleeping, Thomas used another memory pass he had with him. This time the deity which life he experienced had been Dike, daughter of Zeus and a titan named Themis.

Thomas was asleep the whole night. It was the first time he had been inside a female deity's body so it took awhile for him to get used to him.

Unlike when he had been Prometheus, he got to explore a lot more of Gaia this time. He came to know many cities places he would have never expected to be on the same mars he knew.

The fights between Dike and her siblings, the day Zeus tried to sneak into his daughter's bed and was beaten by Hera.

At the last moments, Thomas was glad he was able to escape the memories before anything traumatizing happens.

As soon he got up in the next morning, he called his mom and told her he wouldn't be back home until late and went to have breakfast in the café.

Twenty minutes later he exited the café then went to buy supplies like food, water and some other necessities which he stored it all in his spatial storage.

Lastly, he bought several potions and some consumable items from the system store. It took about one hour to prepare everything before he proceeded towards the perimeter of Dexia Institute.

Whoosh!

Suddenly as Thomas was just a block away from the circle of soldiers somebody pulled him by the arm into the alley.

"I knew it, there is no way you would stay at home." Clarisse eyes were locked on Thomas, who surprisingly wasn't dressed in his battle armor which meant he wasn't planning on draw any unnecessary attention.

She had already thought this might happen when she heard about this "passage" underneath the city. Despite her limited knowledge of Thomas' time in the Dexia Institute, she knew he once belonged there and that he wouldn't give up on searching for his cousin who disappeared with the other students and teachers.

Before waiting for Thomas to speak, she then revealed the battle armor underneath her clothes as well as the sword hanging on her and a pistol on the other side. "I'm going with you. I may not have strong battle power, but I have talked with Claire to help you as well."

"Clarisse,. you don't understand." Thomas raised his head and upon seeing the fierce look in her eyes, unwilling to accept whatever he may say to reason with her he lowered his hand. "Ah, fine. We will do it together, but you must hear me."

"Yes sir!" Clarisse saluted with her right hand like a soldier then laughed. "This is why I came disguised after all."

"Do you call this a disguise?" Thomas only nodded with his head and sighed lowly. In Gazzel's memories, he knew the place they were going to had dozens of passages that intertwined and changed, almost like an labyrinth.

For somebody with his knowledge about Mars, just the words labyrinth were able to make him shiver, especially if it is the same place he had in mind. Of course, he couldn't tell clarisse anything about it and only keep this thought with himself.

Together, they sneaked past the soldiers which wasn't all that hard since there were only two to three adepts in the group of thirty men and crossed the campus towards the crater. The problem was once they got in the grater, there was no way the soldiers won't noticed them.

"Hey, you two! What are you doing?!" The three adepts and the soldiers all turned to the crater and shouted once they saw two human figures had sneaked past them.

'Shit, we gotta run!' The of of them started running, but Clarisse didn't have the superhuman abilities of an adept and was a lot slower.

"You are too slow, this way they will catch us before we are even close to the entrance!" Thomas screamed to Clarisse. If he was by himself, he believed he could cross through the crater and reach the entrance before being caught.

"I'm sorry. My physical abilities aren't as strong as my other self!" Clarisse had to take a deep breath as she tried to keep up with Thomas.

"Pardon me for a second." Instead of keeping running, Thomas went back and stood behind clarisse's back. Like a gentleman, he apologized before picking her up in his arms then suddenly it went off like a bullet.

Multiplying his speed by three, Thomas crossed through the crater in what felt like seconds before he could see the blueish gate in the ground.

'Jump!' Without thinking thomas dived in the vortex and vanished right before the eyes of the soldiers who had no idea of what was happening.

'What?! A human went into a rift?"

"We must call the association and government."
