Chapter 20 Reidon Lost His Composure
"How are you?"
Doreen brought a glass of wine to Reidon.
He could not figure out the meaning in her eyes.
It seemed like a normal greeting, but it also seemed to have a hidden meaning.
"Nothing much. I just work every day. After all, I have to earn money to support myself."
Reidon also remembered many things in the past. There was sadness, pain, and most of all, love.
In the end, he finished the wine in his glass in one gulp.
In the past, Reidon was always forced to drink.
Now, he drank in his own initiative.
When the bitter wine entered his throat, he felt a heartache.
He did not have the feeling when he drank in the past.
Now he drank for hiding his expression from everyone else.
Fortunately, at this moment, Reidon still had a dream.
He wanted to buy a house that belonged to him. This was also the reason why he had to persist.
"That woman... she really isn't your girlfriend?"
Doreen still did not believe Reidon's words and asked again.
Reidon smiled bitterly and shook his head.
There were too many people like him in Goethe city.
He had been working hard for so many years, but he still lived below the poverty line.
He did not have his own house and car.
Would anyone fall in love with someone like him?
Doreen glanced at Reidon's side face and pursed her lips slightly.
She seemed to have something to say, but she couldn't find a way to say it.
Seeing Reidon drink nonstop, Doreen snatched his bottle like before.
"Stop drinking. You'll get drunk."
Reidon didn't listen to Doreen at all. He pushed her hand away and continued to drink his wine.
He didn't know why he felt bitter and tired tonight.
Only drinking could make him feel better.
"Reidon, let's make up!"
Doreen looked at Reidon and said suddenly.
Hearing Doreen's words, Reidon was stunned.
He didn't know what to say.
His hand with the wine also stopped.
He slowly put down the bottle and raised his head to look at Doreen.
"I know that you may not forgive me. But I left back in the past for our future." Doreen said with her clear and moving eyes and she almost cried.
She looked at Reidon and continued, "That was my plan. I intended to be with that old man for a few years first. Once he died, I would obtain a large inheritance. I had thought it through. With that money, our life would be much better... I had no choice."
When Reidon heard these words, many questions were buzzing around in his head so that Reidon could not hear her words clearly anymore.
"Reidon..."
When Doreen said those words, she suddenly realized that there was something wrong with Reidon's expression, as if he was absent-minded.
Hearing Doreen's call, Reidon came out of his trance.
"Do you really want to make up?"
Reidon lowered his head, holding the wine bottle tightly in his hand. The veins on the back of his hand already stood out.
"Actually, I haven't forgotten you. I like you." Doreen said.
Reidon turned his head without looking at Doreen's face. A bitter smile appeared on his face,
"Then what am I? What am I..."
Doreen listened to Reidon's mumbling and asked again as if she did not hear him clearly,
"What did you say just now?"
Reidon looked at Doreen and his gaze suddenly grew fierce. He gripped the bottle in his hand tightly and smashed it on the ground!
"Bang!"
The wine bottle was shattered.
The sudden sound of explosion startled everyone.
Everyone in the private room stared at Reidon and Doreen.
Even the singing stopped.
The entire private room became extremely quiet.
"I said, what exactly am I?"
Reidon suddenly stood up and almost roared at Doreen.
The sudden change frightened Doreen and she didn't dare to speak.
She did not understand which of her words had angered him and caused him to suddenly become so agitated.
"I..."
Reidon pointed at his chest with a finger. His eyes were also shining with tears.
This was the first time in so many years that he had lost his composure.
He could not control his emotions.
The pain in his heart was about to burst out.
He had to yell.
"Have you considered my feelings?"
"Yes, that's right."
"I am very poor."
"But I don't want you to insult me in this way!"
"Even if I starve to death, I will still earn money by myself! But what about you?"
Reidon completely lost control as he shouted and roared at Doreen.
In truth, all these years, Reidon had never forgotten Doreen.
He still had very strong feelings for her.
He had also fantasized that he might reconcile with Doreen.
When he earned money, he would take her back.
But right now he gave up because he didn't love her anymore.
No one could know about his pain.
He didn't understand how Doreen could be like that. In the past, no matter how poor she was, she could still get through. And it didn't matter whether she had money or not. She was incomparably pure.
Could this city really change a person?
At this moment, the door of the private room was pushed open again.
Nyx walked in with a few security guards who had sharp eyes and imposing figures as soldiers.
When Nyx entered and saw that Reidon's safety wasn't under threat, she was temporarily relieved.
She had heard the sound of a bottle breaking in the private room and felt that something was wrong. She was scared out of her wits.
If anything happened to Reidon, the consequences would be unimaginable.
"What's wrong?"
Nyx walked to Reidon and looked at his tear-filled eyes. She then looked at Doreen who was dumbfounded. She understood what happened.
Suddenly, Nyx hugged Reidon, "It's okay. It's okay. I'm here."
Nyx comforted Reidon with a gentle tone and gaze, as if she was trying to make a child happy.
Her behavior made everyone present have many thoughts on their relationship.
Reidon still stood there and stared at Doreen.
