Chereads / Archmage: God-level Modification System / Chapter 2 - Fireball Incinerates All Things into Ashes

Chapter 2 - Fireball Incinerates All Things into Ashes

This speed was not inferior to Mentor Shylock's Fire Escape.

In fact, Fire Escape wasn't actually teleportation. It was just that it made his movement speed extremely fast, and he could move hundreds of meters in one go.

Thus, it was mistaken as teleportation.

At this moment, Ronald's movement speed was even faster than Fire Escape.

"Ssss!"

Ronald took a deep breath to calm himself down.

He understood now. The modification system meant that he could alter his various attributes.

After thinking it through, Ronald looked up at the Trial Mountain.

The corners of his mouth turned up into a smile.

Trial Mountain of Magical Beasts.

It was a training ground specially built by the East Magic Academy.

There were three zones, the outer, central, and core.

The outer perimeter corresponded to Class 1 Magical Beasts.

The central region contained Class 2 Magical Beasts, while Class 3 Magical Beasts lurked in the core area.

If one wanted to become an Elementary Mage, one had to have the ability to hunt Class 1 Magical Beasts.

For instance, if one wanted to advance to an Intermediate Mage, one must have the ability to kill Class 2 Magical Beasts.

After passing the test of the core region's Class 3 Magical Beasts and becoming an Advanced Mage, one could graduate from the Magic Academy.

The Trial Mountain seemed endless.

After hundreds of apprentices entered, they did not see each other for a day.

As for Class 1 Magical Beasts, they numbered in the tens of thousands, totally enough for the trial.

Of course, Apprentice Mages could not go to the central region as it was equivalent to courting death.

Mentor Shylock would inspect the Trial Mountain to ensure the safety of his students.

Of course, he was only one person and couldn't look after hundreds of students at once.

At this moment, Jack and the other two were walking side by side in the Trial Mountain.

Upon arriving here, the three of them began to search for traces of Magical Beasts.

In the trial, the rules were flexible. Besides not being able to steal other people's Monster Cores, they could form teams and hunt together.

This way, the difficulty would be lower. However, they still needed to kill more Magical Beasts to pass the test.

Jack and the other two walked carefully through the dense trees.

Suddenly, Jack raised his hand and his footsteps became lighter as he spoke warily: "Wait, do you smell it?"

Smell?

All three were sniffing.

The air smelled of rotting dung.

"It's the feces of the Wild Boars."

"This is the territory of the Wild Boars."

The three of them whispered.

The Wild Boars were one of the stronger Class 1 Magical Beasts.

They had a defense that was comparable to a Class 2 Magical Beast. The killing power of their raised fangs was one of the best amongst the Class 1 Magical Beasts.

If one were to be charged by a Wild Boar, one's body would be punctured without a doubt.

This knowledge was learned in the Magic Academy.

If one wanted to deal with the Wild Boars, one could only use powerful magic to kill them. All other tricks were useless.

Just as Jack and the other two were thinking of countermeasures, the ground suddenly began to shake slightly.

Immediately, a Wild Boar the size of a calf rushed out from behind the trees.

Its fangs were half a meter long and extremely sharp.

Although its body was heavy, its movement speed was not slow at all.

It attacked Jack and the other two who intruded into its territory.

"Not good! Split up!"

Jack immediately shouted. As he retreated, a baseball-sized fireball coalesced in his hand.

He ruthlessly smashed it towards the Wild Boar's eyes.

Eyes were one of the weaknesses of any animal.

However, his fireball was still somewhat weak. When it hit the Wild Boar, it only produced sizzling sounds.

There was no fatal injury.

The Wild Boar's momentum did not decrease at all.

After missing its attack, it turned around and struck again.

Blue-haired Dill and brown-haired Bell attacked alongside Jack.

"Wind Blade!"

"Earth Spike!"

The wind blade landed on the Wild Boar's fur, and a long and deep wound appeared.

The earth spike pierced out of the ground, blocking the Wild Boar's charge.

The three of them fought well together.

The moment the earth spike trapped the Wild Boar, their eyes lit up. This was the best time to kill it.

However, at this moment, the surrounding air suddenly became scorching hot.

The vegetation was charred black at a visible rate, and the air was filled with the smell of burning smoke.

Jack and the other two felt uncomfortable from the sudden high temperature.

"Hurry! Retreat!"

The three reacted quickly. Although they were about to kill the Wild Boar, they had no choice but to retreat far away in the face of the gradually increasing temperature.

They retreated 100 meters away.

But it wasn't enough. They had to retreat even farther.

After retreating for 500 meters, they could not see any traces of the Wild Boar anymore.

At that moment, another figure appeared in front of the Wild Boar.

It was Ronald.

A fireball the size of a ping-pong ball blazed in his hand.

The surrounding 100 meters became a dead zone.

The trees were charred black and instantly burnt to ashes.

The Wild Boar, a Class 1 Magical Beast, managed to last for a few seconds even after the temperature had just risen.

However, Ronald was right in front of it. The temperature was the highest at the center of the fireball.

There was no need for Ronald to cast a fireball at it.

The Wild Boar was slowly roasted to death by the extreme heat.

When Ronald entered the Trial Mountain, he was about to use the Wild Boar to test the power of the modified fireball.

But Ronald looked at the situation and was stunned.

At this moment, he had some understanding of his fireball.

Class 1 Magical Beasts did not even need to try and attack because they could not even withstand the heat from the fireball.

Ronald stood before the Wild Boar for a minute.

The Wild Boar resisted at the start until it was on its last breath, then it was roasted until it was charred black.

In fact, a gentle breeze blew across the air and the Wild Boar's body was reduced to ashes.

A Class 1 Monster Core fell to the ground.

The surrounding grass and trees suffered the same fate.

The closer Ronald got to them, the more thoroughly they were burned to ashes.

Ronald's eyes glinted.

He recalled that in the entire academy, the highest record for an Apprentice Mage test was killing 28 Class 1 Magical Beasts.

Perhaps he might be able to shatter it.

The corners of his lips curled up slightly.

Immediately, an afterimage remained in place as his figure as he sprinted into the distance.

He was looking for the next magical beast.

When he left, he carried a gust of wind. The burned grass and trees broke apart, becoming dust in the air.

When the temperature of this place gradually dropped, Jack and the other two in the distance hurried back, thinking that the wild boar was still here.

However, when they returned, they saw where the earth spike was.

But the Wild Boar was gone.

All that was left was its ashes.

The surrounding trees also turned into ashes.

"This is—!"

The three of them looked at one another in shock.

At the same time, in the Trial Mountain, the magical energy was too high when Ronald released the fireball.

Mentor Shylock, who was inspecting the Trial Mountain, frowned when he noticed this.

Could it be that the Fire Dragon that was hibernating at the bottom of the Trial Mountain had shown itself?

He guessed.

Only the 100-year-old Fire Dragon could gather such powerful magical energy.
