Chapter 3 - Burning the Earth, The Shock of Mentor Shylock

Shylock was afraid that the students were in danger.

He cast his Fire Escape and rushed to the scene.

All he saw was Jack and the other two students, as well as the black ashes that had been burnt 100 meters around them.

He was stunned.

He first checked if Jack and the other two were hurt.

Then, he quickly assessed the situation.

Mentor Shylock's eyes were filled with shock.

"A forbidden spell! A fire-type forbidden spell!"

He exclaimed inwardly.

Even though he was a Class 5 Mage, he did not have the ability to release fire spells with such a terrifyingly high temperature.

He looked at the center of the flames.

It was not the work of the Fire Dragon.

The Fire Dragon was enormous in size, and it would surely cause huge damage.

But there were no signs of a fight.

However, whether it was plants or Magical Beasts, they were all burnt to ashes by the terrifying heat.

Shylock recalled the moment he first sensed this terrifying energy until it disappeared.

It took less than a minute.

There could only be one possibility for the temperature to be so high in just a minute.

It must be the Holy Mage.

Not even a Great Mage could do it.

Shylock had seen the Great Mage before because the dean of the academy was one.

But even the dean could not achieve such a terrifying effect.

As for the God Mage, that was impossible.

There was only one God Mage on the whole magical continent.

And he had only appeared 1000 years ago.

1000 years later, there was still no God Mage at all.

At this moment, Jack and the other two looked at Mentor Shylock who suddenly appeared. They originally thought that this was his work.

But looking at their mentor's expression, the three of them were even more astonished.

Who else could it be but Mentor Shylock?

Could it be the dean?

Or a high-ranked Mage who suddenly barged in?

While the four were still in shock…

On the other side, Ronald relied on his extreme speed to dash around the entire Trial Mountain.

Every time he came to a halt, a hundred square meters of vegetation would be burnt.

Of course, there would also be a Class 1 Magical Beast turning into ashes.

Explosive energy would appear every few seconds and then quickly disappear.

Mentor Shylock began to doubt his perceptive abilities.

He quickly followed the places where the energy appeared and checked them one by one.

The result was the same.

A burning of destruction.

Mentor Shylock did not dare to stay here any longer and hurriedly returned to the academy.

This situation was beyond his control.

Currently, Ronald had used less than an hour to go around the entire outer region of the Trial Mountain.

And he had already collected 3,000 Monster Cores.

A third of the Class 1 Magical Beasts in the Trial Mountain had been killed.

The hundreds of apprentices in the outer region of the Trial Mountain also encountered Magical Beasts at first.

But as time passed, they only saw burnt forest, and there were no Class 1 Magical Beasts at all.

In order to complete the assessment, one could only walk towards the depths of the periphery while frowning.

Currently, Ronald had obtained too many Monster Cores, and he did not have a spatial storage bag.

He could only hide the Monster Cores in a hidden place.

Spatial storage bags could only be owned by Elementary Mages.

It was not that Apprentice Mages could not own one, but their abilities were not good enough to activate the spatial storage bag.

Ronald had killed over 3000 Class 1 Magical Beasts, and he felt that the process was tedious.

Each time, he didn't even need to raise his hand. Just a single fireball was enough to roast a Class 1 Magical Beast to death.

He felt that with his fireball and fast movement speed, he could go to the middle of the Trial Mountain.

Or its core region.

After deciding, Ronald headed straight for the depths.

At this moment, in the dean's office of the East Magic Academy.

A white-bearded old man was sitting in front of a table, looking through the students' information.

Of the hundreds of information about the Apprentice Mages, only one was selected by the dean.

He placed it aside.

In his hand was a seal with the word "expulsion" engraved on it. He hadn't used this seal in a long time. He had to use it today.

It wasn't that the dean was heartless, but that this child was already 12 years old.

He had yet to pass the Elementary Mage test.

As expected, it was impossible for him to pass this year.

Logically speaking, it was impossible for him to become a real Mage anymore.

Apprentice Mages were not real Mages. They were just a title for beginners.

This was because there were many Apprentice Mages who had yet to awaken their elemental energy.

They only knew the principle of magic and how to gather magic.

They did not have the ability to summon magic.

Just as the dean was about to stamp the "expulsion" seal on Ronald's picture, Mentor Shylock hurried over and pushed the door open without knocking.

The dean frowned and put down his hand.

"Shylock, you are an experienced teacher who has worked in the academy for 10 years. Why are you so unruly!"

Shylock did not listen to the dean's harsh words at all. He took two deep breaths and said with a serious expression: "Dean, I bring bad news."

"What's wrong? Weren't you in the Trial Mountain? Why are you back?"

"Something's strange is happening in the Trial Mountain! I can't explain it here. Please go and take a look."

The dean knew that Shylock was usually a very disciplined person. Now that he had lost his composure, something must have really happened.

Moreover, Shylock was a Class 5 Mage.

Something that even he found hard to control must be incredibly serious.

He wondered if the hibernating Fire Dragon had awakened.

"Let's go!"

Immediately, the dean hurried out with Shylock.

In less than an hour, they arrived at the Trial Mountain.

The dean hovered in midair and looked down at the entire Trial Mountain.

There was an indescribable shock in his eyes.

At this moment, the Trial Mountain was filled with desolation.

Numerous burn marks appeared.

Then, with a flash, the dean and Shylock came to a clearing where the flames had burned.

Bending down, he examined the burnt ash.

He pinched the ashes between his fingers, and they were as tender as water. He rubbed the ashes gently and they disappeared.

"Oh, my god!"

Seeing this, the dean sucked in a cold breath.

To be able to burn a substance to such a small degree of ashes, this person's fire elemental control ability was above his.

The dean was a Class 6 Great Mage.

An expert in the fire element, no less.

However, he knew very well that he could not do what he saw.

Just the temperature of the flames was enough to incinerate the material into ashes.

This required incomparably pure fire elements.

At most, he could burn the matter into tiny particles, but he couldn't completely burn it clean.

That was because, regardless of whether it was plants or animals, there were some microscopic substances in them. These substances could not be burned entirely by normal temperatures.

With such thoughts in mind, the dean walked up to a tree not too far away.

Reaching out, flames engulfed the entire tree.

Within a few seconds, the entire tree blazed in flames and turned to ashes.

However, there were many impurities in them.

Shylock saw the situation as well, and his eyes had as much shock as the dean's.

"Dean, it's not the Fire Dragon. Could it be the Holy Mage—the Fire Supreme, Scorch…"

The dean took a deep breath and remained silent.

He could not be sure, nor could he deny it.

The most powerful fire-type spell caster, Scorch, had once used his Burning Heavenly Spell to instantly burn down a mountain.

He was worshiped by countless fire Mages.

Shylock couldn't think of anyone else in this situation besides him.

The sun was about to set.

The Mage's assessment was almost over.
