Chapter 4 - Chapter Three

Wait for me in the lobby Elle. I am on my way now.

I hastened to change my uniform into my ordinary dress when I read Cassie's text message. I'm sure she'll force me to accompany her to the mall again.

The last time I accompanied her going there, my foot ended up swelling. Fortunately, there were no classes the next day so I was able to rest for two days.

And now, I learned my lesson. Thank God my shift is over. I will be able to go home before she even arrives.

Instead of replying, I walk faster with determination to get home right away before Cassie caught up with me here.

I was close to the doorway when a black Bugatti Veyron stops in front of it. That car is from Cassie. I couldn't be mistaken. I have ridden in that car several times so I've memorized it already.

Before Cassie even see me, I quickly huddled myself to a group of guests walking out of the hotel and used them as shields.

I breathe a sigh of relief when I get a little farther from the hotel without her noticing me. I silently walk away and didn't turn back anymore, but I was distracted when a car stopped on my right side following a familiar voice calling my name.

"Elle, where are you going?"

I secretly rolled my eyes, but when I turn around to face her, I made sure I look innocent and clueless.

"Going home. Where else should I go?" I answered, with a smile plastered on my face.

She pouted her lips.

"Didn't I tell you to wait for me? Good thing I asked the security guard. He said you just came out so I followed you right away."

I secretly snorted.

"I did not saw your text message," I reasoned out.

"Really?" she asked suspiciously.

"Yeah. Really," I answered and smiled innocently.

She raised an eyebrow at me, but later on she nodded.

"Okay. If that's what you said, but can you accompany me to the mall for an hour? I will buy the things for our group project."

What? And I thought she's done buying them. It's been a week since we listed the things we'll need.

"I thought you're done?"

"Nah. I want to go with you."

I almost rolled my eyes at her. Can't she go alone? This spoiled brat is testing my patience. Why do I always have to go with her whenever she wants to go somewhere else? I never remember applying myself as her bodyguard.

"But Cassie, it's already late. I am free yesterday. You should've told me so I could have accompanied you. I need to go home now. My family is already waiting for me."

This time I make her see that I am already pissed, but she just pouted her already pouty lips. I puff out a harsh breathe. She is acting like a child again.

"Don't give me that look Cassie. I really can't go with you," I said, with finality.

I turn my back at her and was ready to go, but she quickly got out of their car and grabbed my hand to stop me.

"Ellena, please. I promise it'll just be quick. Don't worry I will take you home," she said and gave me a pleading look.

I took a deep breath. She knows my weakness. I don't want someone begging at me because I feel like I am a bad person.

"Okay." Finally, I agreed. "But please, make sure that we'll just be quick."

Her face lit up. "Yes, Elle. I promise."

**********

"What if we eat first before we go buying? I'm craving spaghetti, " Cassie suggested when we arrived at the nearest mall.

"Okay," I agreed because I suddenly feel hungry too when I heard the word spaghetti.

We went inside the Jollibee. Only a few people were eating so we were able to order quickly.

"How about your bodyguards? Won't they eat?" I asked when we sat down and were about to eat.

It's not good to see that we are the only one's who's eating while they are here standing and watching over us.

Cassie glance at them.

"Do you want to eat something? You can order what you want. I'll pay for your bills," Cassie offered to her bodyguards, but they just shook their heads.

"We are fine miss Cassie. We are not hungry."

The one with blue eyes answered and if I am not mistaken, his name is King, and the other one with gray eyes is Jacob.

The two are handsome, no doubt about that. I even mistook them as a model before. I wonder why they chooses to become a bodyguard if they could've been passed as a Hollywood actor.

"Okay. But can you just wait for us outside?"

The two looked at each other before nodding their head.

"Okay miss. We'll wait outside," Jacob agreed.

We talk random topics while we were eating. But I fell silenced when she asked me where I would work after we graduated. That same question was asked by her older brother already.

I can't help but remember our conversations with her brother a while ago.

"Sir, I'm going," I said when I finished cleaning our mess.

"Wait miss Saldivia. Come here for a minute. I just want to ask something."

My eyebrows met but I still sit on the sofa in front of him.

"Where do you plan to work after you graduate?" he asked while directly looking at me.

I feel the awkwardness with the way he boldly stares at me so I averted my gaze away.

"I-i don't know yet, sir. I already have options and I will try to apply in those hotels as soon as I graduate."

He slowly nodded his head.

"But I do hope that our hotels are one of your options?"

I bit my lower lip. How can I say that it didn't even occur in my mind to apply here?

"A-actually, sir----

"Don't answer it." He quickly cut me off. "How about if you work for me after you graduate? I'll double your salary."

Really? It's tempting, but I was a little bit offended. Do I look desperate to make money?

"I'll think about it, sir."

"Okay, but please, don't take it too long. I badly needed a secretary."

"Elle."

I was pulled back from my deep thoughts when Cassie snapped her fingers in front of me.

"I have listed possible hotels and I'll try to apply there as soon as we graduate," I answered with her question a while ago.

She raised her eyebrow.

"Why are you still looking for other hotels when you can just work for us?"

I want you out of my sight. I wanted to say that, but another word came out of my mouth.

"I don't want them to say that I only got there because of you."

"What? And who would dare---,"

"Cassie, stop," I cuted her off.

She pouted.

"But Elle, my mom wants me to work there. And I already told them that I will only agree if you will also work in our company."

I gave her an unbelievable look.

"Cassie! Why would you say that? Can't you decide for yourself? Why would you drag my name?" I can't help, but raised my voice.

I got irritated, but it quickly meltdown when I saw her face became gloomy. She bowed her head and played down with her spaghetti which is not yet halved.

"I am sorry Cassie," I apologized. "I am just surprised. I didn't mean to raise my voice at you."

"It's okay. It's my fault anyway," she replied without looking at me.

I palmed my face and let out a deep breath.

"Okay. I'll think about your offer."

I have no choice. She is making me guilty.

"OMG. Thank you, Elle. I am so grateful you are my bestfriend."

She stood up from her seat and hugged me.

Why is she thanking me? Did I agree? I just said I'll think about it.

In the end, it was King who buys our things. Jordan stayed with us while we roam in the mall waiting for King to finish.

See? She just wasted my time. I should be resting at home by now.
