"What's wrong with her, doc?" a deep male voice asked, sounding strangely calm.
"It looks like she's got a concussion and is suffering from exhaustion. Nothing too serious. She just needs some rest" another male voice responded, sounding confident.
"Did you find anything else in your exam? Something that might explain why she was found on the edge of the Light woods?" a woman asked, sounding nowhere near as friendly as the man or the doctor.
I felt rough, warm fingers move over my arm and I tried thinking back on what I had been wearing, in case it had been something they would have had to fully remove. Thankfully I had just been wearing black jeans and a white t-shirt.
"Well, I'm still waiting on the results of the blood work, so I can't confirm anything, but I do have a theory." the doctor's voice responded, almost sounding uncertain.
"And that theory is?" the first male voice asked.
The doctor hesitated, then said "you all noticed that strange flash of light, correct?" The room was silent for a second, and then he continued "I suspect that she may be of the Divine's lineage."
"A DIVINE?!" the woman gasped loudly.
"Is that even possible?" The first man asked.
"I ran an energy test, just to be sure of her condition. It shouldn't be possible, not with the level of fatigue on her body, but the sensor actually broke from an overload."
"But the Divine's lineage died out centuries ago. How could she be one. Is it possible she's from the dragon clan?" The woman asked, sounding almost afraid.
"No sign of any dragon blood in her. Her skin is softer, like a human, and her body temperature is human as well." the doctor explained.
"You know that the dragon clan will have to be informed about her immediately if she is, in fact, of the divine lineage." the woman said, as if she was trying to reason with some fact that I didn't understand.
I felt female fingers rest on my right arm and my eyes shot open. I knew that it wasn't Kat's hands, since this woman's hands weren't cold, but I still felt panicked.
In my panic I flinched away and fell off the left side of the bed.
I held my right arm to my chest, before finally taking a look at my surroundings. Between the beds that were obvious the kind you would see in a clinic, and the man in the white doctors coat, it was a clear guess that this was, in fact, a clinic of some sort. Everything in that nauseating, sterile, white color.
The man in the coat, the doctor, looked to be in his mid 30's, with messy black hair, pale skin, glasses, and a clear need to shave. But, despite his physical looks, his clothes were an impeccably clean suit under the clean white coat.
The second man in the room looked to be about 25 and had short red hair, and had an intense tan that had probably been a sunburn at some point in his life. He was muscular, in blue jeans and a black tank-top.
The woman was truly the most stunning of the three. She looked like a model. With her blond hair, long and tied back in perfect waves. Her skin was pale, but in a nice way, and her blue eyes looked like they could steal a person's heart without even trying. She was wearing a blue turtle-neck shirt and a black work-skirt, underneath her own white doctor's coat.
They were all looking at me with concern, and I felt my anxiety prickling up. I also felt guilt for freaking out, even though I clearly hadn't been in full control of my body.
"Are you alright?" the male doctor asked.
I looked around, hesitantly, before settling my eyes on him.
"Can you speak?" he asked, a small crack in his calm voice revealing concern.
"Y-yes..." I managed to squeak, hearing my voice crack.
"Praise the divines" the second man said, his shoulder sagging as if they had just carried a ton of weight.
"I told you there wasn't anything seriously wrong with her" The doctor gave him an annoyed glance.
"Sweetie, do you know where you are?" the woman asked, moving around the bed and kneeling in front of me.
"I...um...no. I just...needed to get away..." I stammered, not sure what to say.
Of course I had no idea where I was. Nowhere that I knew of on earth had pink and purple leaves, so I was pretty much a lost child here.
"Get away from what?" The male doctor's voice hardened defensively.
I looked down, feeling all of the emotions I had felt earlier suddenly resurface in my mind. The fear, the pain, the anxiety, the insecurity. All topped with the need to escape.
The woman seemed to notice my turmoil, taking my hand tightly into her own "You're safe here. No one is going to hurt you."
I didn't flinch from her hand, instead just looked up at her. I knew that the tears I had spent the past few years burying where already escaping down my cheeks, even if I didn't have the full emotional connection to them.
"Amy? What's wrong with her?" the red haired man asked.
Amy, the woman, said nothing, just pulling me against her until my face was pressed against her chest. It didn't take a second before I broke out into full sobbing. My hands held onto the fabric of her shirt, and the tears exploded from within me.
I didn't even know how long passed like that, just let the emotions out while she stroked the back of my head. Everything she did made me think of my mom, my mom who I had left behind, only making me cry even more.
Eventually the tears ran out, no more fluids pouring from my eyes, leaving me with just a stuffy, runny nose and an intense headache.
I didn't want Amy to release her hold on me, wanted to stay in that comforting warmth, but I knew they were expecting answers from me.
"Who hurt you, sweetie?" Amy asked after pulling back just enough to look at my face.
Part of me said that I should make something up, that I shouldn't let on to these strangers just how much a freak I was, but one look at each of them, and all I wanted to do was to tell the truth.
"M-My sister...she's gone berserk..."
"Do you know where she is right now?" the male doctor asked.
Getting a look at him, I could see the exact details of what made him who he was. His name was Eliot and he was 36. he had been a doctor for his whole life.
The red haired man was Johnathan and, while having a young face, was actually 33. He worked as a fisherman.
The woman was 28 years old, and was actually Doctor Eliot's fiance.
I sniffled again, then took a deep steadying breath, then said "I don't even know where here is. I needed to get away, so I made a door, but I didn't know where would be safe. So I just sorta went wherever the door created."
"Creation magic?" Doctor Eliot asked, his eyes wide.
"Doc, that's more than just creation magic. Portal magic has been gone for as long as the Divine lineage has been" Johnathan stated.
I felt my heart racing, seeing the three of them staring at me "I-I-I...I didn't know if it would work...I just...I..."
Amy's face softened and she let her left hand rest on my cheek, a surprisingly calming gesture.
"You're just fine. We're just a little surprised."
"Does anyone else in your family have this power?" Eliot asked, his face completely serious.
Again, I hesitated, then said "my family has always had magic, but not like this. It was our duty to protect the world from the dark creatures. So, we needed our powers."
"Would your sister have the power to create the same door that you made?" Johnathan asked, looking anxious.
I shook my head "She only had 'God's Sight'. She was supposed to lose her powers when she turned 17, but I think she got infected by a dark creature, so she could hold onto her powers. Or something."
"'God's Sight'?" Amy asked, her face calm, but her eyes showing her emotions.
"Every first born in my family has the power of 'God's Sight', and every second born has 'God's Hand'. 'God's Sight' is the ability to see all the details about whatever one is looking at. While 'God's Hand' is the ability to create and destroy just about anything. But, we're all supposed to lose our powers, so that it doesn't go to our heads."
"So, you're the second born of your family?" Eliot asked, suddenly taking notes.
Again, I shook my head "I'm the third born. The one who shouldn't have ever existed."
"Why do you say that?" Amy asked, her voice hardening in lecture.
"It's a family trait. We never have more than 2 children. We don't know why I was even born."
"Is that normal in the divine lineage?" Johnathan asked, looking at Eliot.
"No. But there's a lot of things that don't entirely make sense. The last time I heard stories of anything like a 'dark creature' was when the rogue demons were destroyed a thousand years ago. And, they could infect almost any other creature, making them extremely dangerous. And the fact that the family trait is like that, would imply that the bloodline is severely tainted. Probably from generations of reproducing with non-magical beings."
"There is no magic source on earth" I interrupted "We were the only ones with any kind of powers."
