Chapter 50 - No Issue

"I've no issue with it."

Kelvin's answer was short and to the point. He was familiar with the couple. After all, only they and Zerrin had more time together with Marlev and Jamie than he had. He didn't exactly view them as son and daughter like he did Marlev and Zerrin, Nofafi's previous comparison to a nephew was pretty much on the money.

In fact, Kelvin planned to use them much like Nofafi himself had thought.

He would have Breda become a made to free up Merri. That much was a given. They may live here, but they were still going to work, especially to make up for their children.

"In turn I would like you to help with paperwork and the like when you are not out performing your normal duties."

He was planning on having Nofafi free up Zerrin even further. He was desperate to couple them together.

"I take it you are also aware of their relationship?"

Kelvin wanted to make sure he knew. He was confident Nofafi knew, but a nod was enough confirm his suspicions. Marlev definitely would have used even him in her plans.

"I will give you a month of leave in order to bring your family here and get settled in. I will also gift you a storage bag to move in. You can keep it, I think you will find it helpful when transporting goods in the future."

Kelvin could tell Nofafi was overjoyed. A storage bag, while slightly inconvenient due to it's size, was capable of storing objects of a volume several times it's size. It also reduced the weight of anything inside. It went without saying that storage bags were considered the traveler's best friend. They were not as convenient as storage bands, plates, and rings, but their rather standard bag-like appearance made them look inconspicuous.

Nofafi was familiar with them, he carried around the papers in one loaned to him after all. He couldn't store personal items other than food in it though, so he had been saving up for one for a very long time. Carrying around random goods he bought in other places might mean he could make some more money, and any valuables he might find could be carried without fear of theft.

Kelvin was aware of his obsession with tourism and souvenirs. He had received a few gifts from him on various holidays. He didn't care too much for them but he found them rather neat. The one that intrigued him the most was a pinwheel that had a pattern that would put him to sleep when he looked at it for too long.

His gift of the storage bag (which in hindsight he really should have given him earlier) was for a different reason. Kelvin was under the impression that Nofafi would bring back little gifts and trinkets from his travels for his children, wife, and hopefully Arc.

In the future, Arc would not be able to go outside very often. That was a consequence of his mother's actions. The peninsula may be peaceful, but that doesn't mean that spies weren't there. Everyone involved, even Breda, was concerned about his safety. The mansion might just be the safest place on the planet for him, especially if Maria decides to take residence. Not even someone willing to die in exchange for Arc's life would be able to pass the front gates in the presence of Maria and Kelvin.

If Nofafi could bring him new stuff from the outside, Kelvin could be confident that Arc would remain entertained. He would have plenty of people to talk to in the mansion after all.

"Oh yeah, I brought some toys for Arc to play with. Where is he? I'd like to give them to him and see how he's doing."

Kelvin was glad to find that Nofafi was already doing what he expected even without the bag.

"Go to the dining room. Merri is currently having him try out some food. You should join them and grab some food as well. I can't imagine your packed food tastes the best."

Nofafi accepted Kelvin's offer, heading to the white tiled room with a smile on his face and a new bag on his back.

Kelvin was left with his paperwork and his thoughts. Thoughts largely focused around Arc.

"TOYS! Oh heavens I forgot to give him toys!" Kelvin was kicking himself over his blindness to his own grandson's needs. "How bored has the poor baby been? I'm the worst..."

Kelvin would be a bit depressed and lethargic over the next few days, moping over his perceived inadequacy.
