Chapter 53 - James of the Bloodied Star

It had been almost four months now since Jamie, formally known as James, left his home behind. He was making better progress than he had thought he would have, leaving him with a feeling that he left too early and could have spent more time with Arc. He knew that this time he had to play with was the direct result of him leaving immediately and covering his tracks, assisted by his stellar name of course.

The only name of his that he knew was his tertiary one, but given his current power, the number of people able to track him via divination could be counted as two. Both of these people belonged to the Scattered Stars sect, Kelvin and the head of the sect herself. Kelvin had a special way of divining with the assistance of his bloodline, and the head was not only surpassed Jamie in power, but could be considered the best oracle in the world, easily capable of seeing through the thin veil of cover the heavens provided him.

Speaking of Jamie's stellar name, it should be noted that it is extremely unique amongst stellar names. His tertiary stellar name, Sanguechi, was hereditary. In fact his entire sect, the Mountain of the Bloodied Star, was all blood related. The sect was Matriarchal, which was rare, but it was entirely due to the fact that only the mother would pass down the star. His mother was the Matriarch, with Sanguechi actually being her primary name, making her extremely powerful. His elder sister who was next in line to take over also had it as her primary name. It was thought to be extremely likely that her daughter would also have it as her primary name as well.

Jamie was not in any capacity weak though, considered to be among the top of the top cultivators, his nickname being 'James of the Bloodied Star'. This was not a result of his relationship to the Bloodied Star sect, but rather a result of how vicious his fighting style was, creating a crimson star of blood as he slaughtered his way through. Under certain conditions, fighting his mother Maria, someone a whole order of magnitude of power higher would be preferable to fighting him as he showed little mercy and he would usually not leave an intact corpse to bury. His mother tended to make it clean at least.

Jamie was on his way back to the Mountain on his way to Headquarters, planning on telling his mother what had occurred as well as inform her of his plans for the future. he would probably stay a week and gather a small group of people willing to go to the Scattered Stars sect for training or work. He might even spar a bit as a warm up for what was to come, he might have had a few run-ins with assassins and old enemies so far, but they hardly posed a threat to him. He was rusty after all these years of peace and quiet.

"Is that Jamie? Jamie! Is it really you?" Jamie heard a voice calling out to him from behind that sounded light and refined. He turned to see who had called out to him.

Making out a figure with medium length brown hair and a tall and limber build he responded with, "William you beautiful bastard, I didn't think I would see you so far from the Mountain!" William was the husband of his older sister and only sibling Jessica. "How is Jessica? I heard from Zerrin a while back you finally had a daughter. You will have to introduce me to her."

"I wouldn't dare to deprive you of that. How have you been? Actually, tell me when we get back. It has almost been twenty years since we last had a good chat, that my tenth anniversary party didn't count." He seemed ecstatic to see Jamie, he was one of his sworn brothers during his travels after all.

"Actually, I was planning to have a chat with you, Jessica, my mother, and a few of the elders when I got back. I have important matters that need to be discussed, and from what little I've been able to gather on my trip here, it looks like war is brewing."

"We know that war is definitely coming, probably more so than you, but I imagine that there would be more than that to warrant a call for the elders. Come, if we hurry we can get there by first light tomorrow."
