THE GUY THAT is right next to Alaska is tall and slim with brown curly hair that fills the top of his head but not the sides which are shaved.
"Felix," Alaska says, "This is Indie."
"Yeah," his pearl eyes dart to me, "you're the new girl." His voice is mellow as his atom's apple bobs with the rhythm of his voice. His skin is an olive color that blends well with the black shirt he's wearing.
I take a moment to answer, "Yeah."
"She's from Tennesee."
"Oh, my father used to live there."
I blot out the rest of the noises to focus on...him.
After class, I feel his gaze and I don't feel uncomfortable, I feel like I want to hug him like I've known him for a while.
"Uch, we have homework to do," Alaynna complains.
"I know," Alaska says as Amilla enters the crowded halls.
We leave the building to go outside. The fresh air hits my face as my hair flies with the wind. Alaska guides me and Felix to the back of the bleachers that are set up outside.
She looks at us her face serious. We look at each other and then look away. He's so tall but he's not overwhelmingly tall. He makes my insides tremble and knot up and my stomach flutter. He asks my question out loud, "Why did you bring us here?" His smooth voice carries a nice tone in my head.
"Because I only know you two and Alaynna's been getting on my nerves. I've been to her house before and it's not that bad."
He sits down and leads me to a state next to him on the concrete ground. It's cold so I shiver throughout the whole talk. "Are you sure that's the reason because you would've brought Amilla with you, too?"
"Okay, aww."
We glance at each other, "What?" we say in unison.
"Nothing."
After school, I go home thinking about him.
The next morning, Aunt Lucy ripps the covers off of me and barks, "School! Get up!"
I groan, "No."
She opens the blinds and pushes me off my bed. I stand up loosly. "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
She leaves with a loud slam from my door flowing behind her. I grab my big jeans, a navy-blue shirt, and I sluglishly hop in her truck. She speeds until we get there. I feel like I just left a rollercoaster rife and not in a good way. I miss Uncle Kimmy driving me to school, "I'm taking the bus from now on. You're a fucking scycopath!" I scream at her as I walk away.
A group of girls stair at me. I humiliated myself at my new school, great. I go over to Alaska and Felix the warm fuzzy feeling like I just want to hug him.
"Hey," Alaska says.
I clutch my laptop as I flip my hair off my sholder. I walk with her and Felix, "Hey."
"Can I come over? You can come, too, if you want to," Alaska adds.
"Uh...sure."
"Hey, tough guy, she's commin', too."
He glances at me, "Cute swaetshirt."
Heat waves across my face as my stomach knots even tighter like the kuiper belt had just tightend his belt. My mouth couldn't move as if they'd been sown shut or like they've been glued together with super glue.
Felix and us girls part seperate ways. I glance at his lean figure walk into one of the doors in hall 184B plastered on the brick wall right above the entrance, whatever that means.
"Oh my god!"
"What?" I say dully.
"I forgot to do page 33 in the textbook." She has a shock expression on her face.
"It's fine, you can coppy mine."
"You finished it?"
"Yeah, it's only like five questions."
We both enter the classroom.
