The first part of the trip in the cab was very quiet, only the radio connected by the driver and the engine of the car producing some noise.
The two passengers in the back, Kobayashi Shinsuke and Shinohara Hana, were sitting far away from each other, each one against his window to leave a space equivalent to a whole seat in the middle of the bench.
Both Hana and Shinsuke were looking out of their windows; and while Shinsuke had his arms crossed in front of his chest, Hana was relaxed and sitting upright, her hands holding the bag of medicine on her thighs.
Still feeling a little guilty, but also responsible for her - 'as a Section Chief and nothing else', Shinsuke had mentally convinced himself - the older man had decided to take her home by cab.
