Chapter 11 - Chapter 11 - Arrow to the Knee

"What was that explosion?"

"Ah! Dwarves, and someone else."

"Huh? Where?"

"That direction" Proceeds to point in a certain direction.

"Damn it, Francis! I'm a Guardian Knight, not a scout! I can't see jacksh*t!"

"Owh." With an innocent expression, he kept silent.

A party of 11 people kept hidden within the woods outside the eastern gates of Wolfenstein. They were the reconnaissance group from the Ranustin Kingdom of the Shodan Continent!

Claire, Dennis, and Matthew, who were part of the unlucky party that was discovered as Feihren arrived in this world, were also in this group as they were sent to gather information once more.

Back when they were escaping from the cavalry, it hadn't even been a day into their journey home when they met a 10-man party. Luckily, they were a backup team sent by their kingdom in advance to assist them on their return, as opposed to more knights.

They successfully transmitted to the higher-ups in their kingdom that they had gathered 'important information', but as for the details, it could only be said in person. The magic item they used to transmit the message was not infallible. It could only contain a small amount of data, and is highly susceptible to magic interference. So they decided to return quickly.

However, the party they met on their way back had a second priority for coming. After receiving a magically transmitted command, they decided to let 2 of their rangers return and relay the 'important information'. The three people who were planning to return would just be slowing down the arrival of the information. Only one of them had the ability to return quickly, but even so, the three of them were not necessarily good at relaying information. This was a party made up of muscle-headed people!

Now their new mission was to scout the eastern area of the enemy and confirm the existence of a newly opened path in the mountain ranges where the old dwarven tunnels were.

...

"Should we just stay here and observe then?"

"If the Dwarves are residents of this area, wouldn't it be a bother later on to just leave them be? After all, he does not seem weak, and that magic weapon he seems to possess…"

"Do you think it would be better to just, kill them?"

Everyone nodded in agreement.

...

"They seem to be charging head-on eh?"

"Isn't this even better old chief? Perhaps now I can show you what my gun can do."

"Eh, suit yourself kid, but if it gets tough don't come crying to me" Old Mendi jokingly replied as he heartily laughed.

"Crying? Hahaha you're gonna make me laugh so hard I'll cry old man"

Old Mendi walked a few steps back, and sat cross-legged. He looked as calm as ever while observing attentively.

The faint neon-purple outline in Feihren's armor began shining brighter, emitting a fierce aura, as he aimed his AK-9 again in his most comfortable shooting position.

The enemies weren't very far away now, only around a hundred meters.

"8 of them huh," Feihren confirmed the number of enemies.

*Trkk! *Trkk! *Trkk!

He fired a couple rounds, both of them landing on an enemy. Feihren was not overconfident, and thus he made sure to fire twice on a single enemy. However, he seems to have been correct to do so as it took both bullets for the soldiers to stumble and fall, but no more than that.

"It seems that 2 rounds are enough. I'd better not waste anymore."

*Trkk!

*Trkk!

*Trkk!

1 enemy… 2 enemies… 5 enemies…

Within a span of seconds more than half of the enemy had already fallen. Old Mendi seemed ecstatic in witnessing this elegant slaughtering weapon on display before him. "Good work young lad!" He nodded with satisfaction.

The remaining enemies halted their charge, but only 3 of them remained. Their faces showed a hint of shock at what suddenly unfolded.

All they saw were a few flashes on the horizon followed by an unusual noise before their comrades suddenly fell! What is happening?!

Their plan was just to charge and outnumber the opponents, but it seems they are not so weak as to be taken out that easily. Instead they were ridiculously strong, to the point that they could kill 5 people within mere seconds!

But their faces turned devious as devilish grins appeared. The reason they only had 8 people charge was to mount a sneak attack on that old dwarf and take his magic weapon! But now, their target suddenly changed…

*Thwish! Thwish! Thwish!

Consecutive arrows were directed towards Feihren.

*Thunk! Thunk! Thunk!

Bullseye! Every single one of them landed on his body. All of the attacks were directly aimed at the places that were not covered in armor so as to guarantee the effectiveness, failing to activate the reactive armor bonus. But in the next moment, they could only stare in mute shock.

Feihren casually pulled the arrows from his chest, leg, and knee as if nothing happened!

'System Log: Rare-grade arrows landed, Pallas Skin ineffective'

'HP: 9,000 (-30)'

'HP: 8970 (200 reg/min)'

'HP: 9,000'

'10 damage per arrow? It's so… weak?'

Feihren tossed the arrows aside as he casually stared with the dumbfounded enemies before him.

'The archery in this world is simply pitiful'

That thought appeared in Feihren's head as the AK-9 in his hands disappeared. The enemy exhaled a breath of relief

But the next instant, a crossbow with deep red color appeared in his hands. Aiming at the direction from which the arrows came…

*Thwish!

The next moment, a loud thud could be heard from that direction. It was ranger Dennis! The one who shot those beautifully placed arrows died from a taste of his own medicine. Rangers don't wear helmets, as it would obstruct their senses, but at the same time it made them very vulnerable to being shot in the head.

"I guess that worked? Arrows are easier to produce than bullets. I don't need to waste my precious rounds on these kinds of people."

Claire and Matthew, who were planning to mount a two-pronged ambush, stopped. They were unable to believe that one of their closest comrades died just like that, they were in a state of shock.

Feihren slowly walked towards the three knights that remained, who were still dumbfounded. But Feihren noticed something, the insignia on their armor plates doesn't seem to belong to the Wolfenstein Kingdom as he assumed!

"Who are you guys? Where do you come from and what are you doing here in the Wolfenstein kingdom?"

"Answer honestly or else…" Switching the crossbow to the AK-9 again, a surge of killing intent crashed down upon the area in such a manner that the knights found it suffocating to even retort to this man.

"We're from the Ranustin kingdom in the Shodan Cont…" The head of the knights hadn't finished speaking yet when a loud commotion was heard from a distance. It was from the direction of Coboro village! Black smoke can be seen rising from the village.

Feihren had an ominous feeling about this…
