Spencer gets up and gives me a high five. " I knew you could do it. You are a survivalist." I smile. A complement from Spencer is rare. I should say this is like the first time. Lily goes to Spencer and smacks him slightly on the cheek. " You fool. Never do that again. Do you understand me?" Spencer nods while rubbing his cheek. Despite the seriousness of the situation, Spencer smiles. " we should be leaving" says Lily. " As soon as we grab some weapons and anmo for them" says Spencer. I notice a revolver and a pistol. Just because I fired a gun dosen't mean that I want to use flashy showing guns. I want to take baby steps. Spencer grabs a rifle and Lily grabs a shotgun of her own. She smiles as she inspects the shotgun. " I guess I got a new friend" jokes Lily. I stuff some extra Ammo in my pocket. Nothing wrong with having more ammo. " let's go" says Spencer. We exit the pawn shop. The outside world looks completely deserted. I am half glad that this area will finally not populate the planet any more but if the government releases the cure then the same old problems that affected the planet will just return. Air pollution, deforestation and over population but I think that problem will take awhile to become a problem again. Then again not so much. I am not saying that I don't want a cure released. " How did you guys get here so fast" asks Spencer with a confused expression on his face. " We used the car. Sorry Spencer. I know that you wanted to drive first" I say. " It's cool guys. You saved me. Plus I was a fool to think that I could do this solo mission on my own. I mean how was I supposed to carry all those weapons. I really am a fool." We all laugh. As we are approaching the car, we hear loud zombie mutant noises. We all turn around and see about 40 zombie mutants coming from both sides. " In the building now" I yell. We run into a building complex which seems out of place in this industrial area. Spencer closes the door. " Why are we running when we have guns" asks Spencer. " let's not waste ammo. I thought that if we ran into this building and they can't get in, they will give up." Spencer rolls her eyes. " You could have doomed us Andrew. Let's just go out there" says Spencer. " Let's not argue guys. There should be a back way" says Lily. We leave the entrance and start to go to the back way when a man appears from the basement area. Spencer aims at the man. The man aims at Spencer. " Who the hell are you people and why did you lead the zombies to my doorstep" says the man. " Relax sir. We didn't mean too. We were on a supply run. We didn't mean to tresspass" I say. The man looks at me. " You seem to be the sensible one amongst the group. Let's talk by the garage section." The man directs us to the back way. We follow. We are outside where people who lived in this building would park their cars. The man closes the door. Spencer still has his gun aimed at the man. The man aims his gun at Spencer. " Hey lets calm down. We need to discuss a solution" I say. Spencer and the man lower their guns. " My name is Andrew and this is Spencer and Lily." The man sighs and frowns. " My name is Fred. Why would you bring zombies to my doorstep?" I decide to be the spokesperson for the group. " We were looking for supplies. We are planning to go somewhere but we were not prepared." " So you decide to make your problem my problem" says Fred. " Sorry" says Lily. Fred moans. " Fine. Just this once I will let it slide. It is not a good idea to leave right now. Even through the back way gate. I suggest you stay here for awhile. I will obviously demand something in return for offering my hospitality. " Lily opens her backpack. She hands Fred two canned tins of tuna and a little bit of ammo. Fred smiles his approval. " Good deal. Thanks. There is stairs further on the left side. You can sit there if you want." We don't object. We walk to the stairway. Fred seems more calm then before. " Please tell me the situation outside the streets. I haven't been out since the outbreak. I am the only one who lives here. There is someone who lives close around here but we only communicated a few times. He is more brave to explore the streets, not me." Spencer is biting the inside of his cheek. I know that he does that when he is lying or hiding something. " When I was outside, I saw a dead body in a shop. I think that is that man you are talking about." Fred's eyes go big. " I guess that means I am the only one in this area then." Lily changes the topic. " So, what were you doing before the apocalypse?" " I was a first aid response. I was supposed to be out in the field when the outbreak happened. I am a coward. I was supposed to help people but I choose to hide." Fred closes his eyes. " I hope I can be forgiven someday. My coworkers probably hate me if they are not killed or become zombies." Lily shakes her head. " I dont think that. I would have done the same." Fred smiles. " Thanks. I remember the day the outbreak happened in this area. It was insane. Especially this building. Everyone ran out. Well not everyone. There was this one guy but he started getting something like cabin fever. Before the outbreak, he was someone who liked exploring and going outdoors. He could not cope being coupled up in this building I guess." I decide to get up and check if the zombies are still trying to get in. " Where are you going Andrew" asks Spencer. " I am going to look to see if the zombies are still out there." Spencer follows me. Poor lily has too listen to more sad news from Fred. "Even if there are still zombies, I suggest we leave. I am not dealing with news about this damm building" says Spencer. " I agree." We make it back to the building and to our relieve we don't hear any zombies. " Yes" says Spencer. I smile. We make our way back to Lily and Fred. " The zombie mutants have left" I say. " Zombie mutants" says Fred in a confused way. " That is what Andrew calls the zombies. They look like mutants" says Lily. Fred smiles. " I like that. Well guys I think that this is goodbye for now. I hope to see you again in the near future" says Fred. I smile. " sure" I say. Fred shakes all our hands and smiles. " Be safe out there. I hope you make it. So far you guys are the only ones that have visited me since the outbreak started. " I feel sad. No one should be alone in an apocalypse. Before we are about to walk into the building, Fred stops us. " Don't go that way. They are probably still close. Go out the garage gate." We decide to do that. As the gate is opening, Fred hugs all of us. " Send a messenger will you. You know, if you find someone who enjoys risking their lives on the street. Write a letter and give it to them. I would really appreciate it." " We will. It might take awhile though" I say. Fred nods and closes the gate. We wave and leave.
