It dosen't take long to find the car. We managed to avoid a lot of zombie mutants along the way. I think that I can speak for everyone when saying that I am happy that Fred suggested using this route. " Better hop in quick guys. I want to return as soon as possible. We can't use this route to the highway. Too many zombies" says Spencer. " Let's spend one more day at the house and we can get a fresh start tomorrow" says Lily. I really don't want to spend another day at the house. Each day we waste is another day that we don't make it to the Forest of Hooper. I am scared that when we arrive, no one will be there and it will be infested with zombie mutants. I can only hope. The drive is filled with silence. We are all thinking our own thoughts. We arrive back at the house. When I enter the house, a sudden calmness enters me. We are not out on the streets. " Guys I got a surprise" says Lily. She opens her backpack and takes out a radio set. I smile. " Well done Lily. Thanks. We can get updates now." Lily beams with pride. " Help me set it up." We set the radio up. We put it on the channel station that Parkview was on and calmly wait. Spencer decides he is going to work on the car and that we must call him if they say something on the radio. I sit near the radio with my eyes closed. After about two hours, someone starts talking. " Hello survivors. I hope that you are doing well." I shout to Lily to call Spencer. " The world is not improving. I have heard many people from many different places saying that they haven't been getting any help from the government. Supplies are running low and nobody knows what to do. The only news I heard of people getting help was in the city of Dextin and luxor. There was still many casualties. Please consider coming to our sanctuary in the Forest of Hooper. It is located near the Darkview Mountains. We have plenty of security. we have a massive garden and we have livestock. We look forward to seeing you and if you decide to come, please arrive safely. I will update you all again in a weeks time. See you soon." We all look at each other. " I guess I better keep this radio," says Lily. We are agree to go to bed early for tomorrow. " I will join you both soon. I need to make sure that the car will be ready. Plus I need to pack extra tires. I don't want a hole and we are forced to leave the car behind." I go straight to bed. I have a dream. I dream of Fred battling against a horde of zombies. Other than that I have a peaceful sleep.
The next day
I get up early to see that both Lily and Spencer are awake. I feel like I have been excluded from something. " We are waiting for you to eat before we go" says Lily. Breakfast is made up of canned meatballs and veggies. I eat fast and instantly regret it. I get hip coughs. Spencer laughs but then stops. I sneak a glare. We pack up and enter the car. " This engine is a masterpiece now thanks to yours truly." Yeah right, Spencer but I know that it is true. " Guys' there is something that I have been meaning to tell you. I at first never wanted to tell you guys but I think that I am getting used to you. My son never died. He left me. My husband is the one who died. I wanted to stay in the city but my son was too traumatized to stay. One night I fell asleep. The next day when I woke up he was gone. I should have listened to him. I was too focused on surviving. He is only 13 years old. His name was Shea. I hope he survived. I might never see him again. He did take a weapon with him. I can't imagine what he is doing now. He loved to play soccer and hang out at the arcade with his friends. He disliked fighting and anything negative like drugs or violence. He loved animals. I am speaking about him in past tense, how strange is that." I remain silent. " I am sure that he is alive and well and thinking of you all the time" Says Spencer. Lily smiles. As the car is driving, I notice most details about this city. There are hardly any trees in the residential areas and the houses are designed almost the same. Two story house with a garage. " I have something of my own to share although I am not going to share the full explaination" says Spencer. " I used to party with friends even though I hate parties. I am a person who easily succumbs to peer pressure. I almost did something I regretted and I also did something that I have regretted. I think it is the worst thing that I will ever do in my life." I wonder what he did and didn't do. I will probably never know. I want to share something too. " My parents had a job that involves travelling a lot. I hardly saw them much. I had a guardian named Mary. She is probably the most kindness person I have ever met. When the outbreak just happened, I didn't even think of her. All I thought about was myself." I almost start crying. " Don't be hard on yourself Andrew. You still love her don't you" asks Lily. " Yes" I reply. " Then don't worry" says Lily. As we are driving a horde of zombies comes into our view.
