"Relax, I'm not going to order you to do anything different than what you already do, Wolf. I brought it away because I have to confirm some things that are best kept secret."
"How much can you feel the fluctuations of space? The spatial element is rather complicated to track than the more common elements, even the mental element energy ends up being considered easier to feel."
I understand why Raven asked me that, we just witnessed space magic. I may not have been able to identify the priest mage who had this element, but I'm sure there was at least one space element mage in the bishop's group, though I have no idea what kind of magic or matrix was used in this displacement, I just know it wasn't common.
"It's hard for me to claim that I'm able to track this kind of elemental energy, I can feel it, but honestly, I don't have much reference on how it works or how it's applied beyond the basics. I have no idea what kind of magic the group led by that bishop used to get away, but I could feel the space floating and breaking around the barrier that covered them."
Raven's black mask really gets in the way at these moments, I don't know if she's happy or annoyed with my answer. It's usually not hard to figure out when she's happy about some news, as she usually doesn't try to mask her reactions too much when she's surrounded by real mates.
"That magic was a spatial projection, and often used to create bridges between two places without having to create an actual portal. Using coordinates, a group of space element mages or a blue core space mage can create an area where space is solid and send it to another place for a limited period of time."
"The stronger the greater the distance can be covered with this spell and the longer the controlled area created by the spell can stay away from its starting point, the barrier that covered the bishop's group served as the limit for this spell."
"When she finished everything that was inside that area, she returned to the location where the magic was created, usually this is used at a time like this where it is necessary to exchange information and objects from a place where there is no spatial matrix and where to one."
"The biggest problem with doing this is that the space bubble is kind of fragile, if the bishop's group was attacked by a level four or several level three magic beasts the energy fluctuations generated by the fight would already be strong enough to break the space bubble."
"If that happened, the bishop's group could no longer return to their point of origin through magic, they would have to travel on foot to a temple where they can use a displacement matrix to their home. This spell also cannot be used through barriers, even a level two barrier capable of preventing this spell from being performed at a location."
This magic is more limited than I expected.
"But that's not to say there aren't people who use it to launch an attack or act a slightly better version of it. And there's the danger for us, I wouldn't be surprised to find that our Little Flame has a space element beacon with it."
"The bishop may not have spoken to her directly now, but don't think they don't know each other. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised to find that he already knew this mission was more complicated than it looked, I doubt he knew about the light of destruction, but he may have received some clue about the existence of an artifact."
"Getting possession of an artifact from an evil god or goddess would be a very big achievement for him, the goddess Helena would reward him very generously. Normally someone like him wouldn't have come in person to get the report or even try to force a mission on a group that doesn't belong to his church."
"Unlike other members of your church, we have no way of using the artifact other than giving it to Goddess Helena's church in exchange for resources or grants. So yours I have to make sure you can feel the spatial fluctuations created by spells and magic tools, Wolf, you are now one of the very important pieces of the quest."
Raven took out a small metallic book and the moment I saw it I realized that it was a space element magic tool, it is very little energy, but inside that metal book is a very unstable elemental core of space energy.
"This is a space disruptor; it is capable of releasing a small wave of space energy that interferes with the element of a middle area. You won't be able to be far from Little Flame, but as this tool was not made for times like this, it's necessary that you activate it at the right time."
"I have it to be able to prevent one or more cultists from using a displacement matrix to escape, releasing the wrist calibration matrix or space magic and slightly messed up causing it to not be complete, preventing the cultists from fleeing. But to do that I just have to activate it while I'm close enough for its signal to reach the cultists and not put up a space barrier protecting it."
"Any more common level four or matrix magic has no defense against this type of attack, but a church beacon probably would, because of that it would usually be useless to use this type of disruptor to try to block a beacon."
"But we have you who are able to perceive the fluctuations of the spatial element, just like any magic or complex matrix the beacon has different stages of activation. He first releases a signal without causing even a commotion to the environment, only after that signal is locked by a spatial rune matrix controlled by a mage of the same element, a bridge between them will be created stably."
"When the bridge is created the beacon will release a lot of light and form a barrier around the place where the bishop or his templars would appear, at which point the beacon becomes visible, but it also means that the disruptor has no use for try to prevent the arrival of the Templars and priests."
"You'll have to activate the disruptor when the beacon sends out its first signal indicating its location, it doesn't even have a visible signal other than small fluctuations in space. I can't feel them even though I'm well trained in tracking arts, I just have no talent for sensing the space element and really annoying, I'm completely blind to that element."
"But you're not, remember this disruptor can only be used twice, Wolf, and the interference it causes will only disrupt the beacon for a short time until it signals its position again. You're going to have to attack Little Flame or have to distract her so she can't try to reactivate the beacon, and I know this is complicated and attacking a church member directly without an excuse is bad."
"If it were simpler, I would have gotten rid of her now and not have to carry this problem, but we have to do this kind of theater so we don't have serious problems with the church. I advise you to make her move, pretend you are being attacked or ambushed and make her move."
"As long as she doesn't stay for a while in a place, she won't be able to try to reactivate the beacon, and I intend to keep you out of combat so it's very easy for you to pretend that you are being attacked, without drawing the attention of the real enemies and thus being attacked in truth.
And just run for a while and even if she gets frustrated at failing her mission, she won't suspect that you're doing it on purpose to stop her from using the beacon, this kind of tool was created for its activation to be well disguised."
"Without a mage or warrior who has the space element, only a few trackers can have the sensitivity to sense the space element, and in your fix, there is not even a report or proof that you have that ability. So, you must keep your ability to sense the space element very secret, understand?"
"Yes, I intended. It would be nice if I could spend the rest of my life without people finding out that I can feel the space element."
"That's the idea, but I doubt you can pull it off but keeping it a secret for another decade will be enough to avoid the suspicion of any church member. But this tricky situation that could put you in a difficult position with the church will not be left unrewarded."
"Obviously you will receive a huge reward for preventing the church from easily interfering with this mission. Our main goal is to let that swordsman continue to cause trouble for this realm, the stronger this rebellion movement the more chances of harming Mirue realm will exist."
"Our team will make a big contribution if we can complete my plan, but I want to make it very clear that you will receive very valuable rewards and in a discreet way, Wolf , I would never let you or another team member not receive the rewards for your contributions."
Raven held out her open hand holding the disruptor toward me.
"Do you accept this mission?"
"Of course, but I don't intend to attack Little Flame directly."
"Fair."
