Over the next few hours Volkan and I searched several rooms, but we didn't retrieve many papers but ended up having some problems while exploring the rooms.
When passing through the second door we found a small warehouse, while Volkan checks some boxes near the wall where we entered the room, I went to the other side of the room only to be greeted by a warrior skeleton that was hiding behind the closed door.
As we didn't enter through a normal entrance, we avoided the trap that this skeleton must have been designed to be, the skeleton that looked like a piece of furniture behind the door, but when he noticed my presence and his eyes lit up to a faint green flame.
The newly awakened skeleton a tricky target, the mana that surged from its bones made me realize that this must be a level three undead. Taking advantage of the moment he was still waking up, I pierced my sword and hunting blade into the skeleton's body before he could make any attack or defense move, I hit his spine and skull, but none of my attacks had much effect.
His spine bone barely splintered when my sword pierced him, the damage to the skull was better as I hit him straight in his right eye, but as these bastards don't have either an organ or flesh the flame that represents the skeleton's eye barely looked damaged, but she was still pretty deformed compared to her other fiery eye.
I jumped back avoiding the skeleton's sword movement without much difficulty, what this cretin has in durability he doesn't have in speed. An average gray core warrior would have no problem running off and leaving him behind, but that advantage isn't so easy to exploit in this closed room.
If we had an open field, I could easily walk around him and sweat out his spine and skull to sharpen my weapons with countless well-aimed blows, but now he has the upper hand because his damn medium-sized shield is blocking most of the moves I can make. against him in that tight space.
Damn defensive warriors, I move toward the center of the room where there's a little more room to move without having to step over a box or table. The skeleton walks slowly towards me, I thought to see what Volkan is doing, but turning your back on your enemy is a horrible mistake to make.
And I also feel like Volkan wouldn't be much help if I just yelled for help to him, but I'm also sure he'll help me if I ever find myself in real danger.
When the skeleton got close enough to attack me, I could already see how it has changed, in someone else's eyes this skeleton just comes out of the closet and is slowly walking towards me to try to skewer me with its extremely sharp sword, for a weapon that it should have been a long time without care the edge of its blade still has a deadly shine.
But in my eyes the mana and element of death that should not only be concentrated inside those bones but hidden came out of them, around the bones of the skeleton a kind of cover of mana and the element of death formed uniformly, taking away the points where I had it. I damaged before the flaws in your bones reflect in mana.
The undead are really very different, I've seen spirits, living armor and some zombies, but this is the first time I've seen a skeleton and they are quite different from the other undead. And that's a very good thing, the mantle of energy over your body is like the muscles over the bones of the skeleton, for most people skeletons are hard to anticipate because their bones move in ways that a body normally couldn't, but I can see how the mana and energy around his body moves before he actually starts moving.
I dodge the attack that would be pretty slow for a green core warrior, but I still have to summon my wind element to move faster than the skeleton. My sword comes into contact with the skeleton's shield full of elemental energy and mana only to slip away like nothing, this is a really solid defense.
But I keep attacking him to put prey on the skeleton, but slamming my sword against his shield or using my hunting blade to deflect his sword is not a viable strategy. Without Volkan's direct help I'll have to risk it.
I charge against the skeleton and move to the left where its defense is weakest, the skeleton delivers a heavy swing with its sword in a diagonal slash that I block using my hunting blade, but as I continue to advance towards the center of its body the His shield starts moving to intercept me as usual, but instead of him blocking my sword I kick him with a huge amount of aura and wind elemental energy.
Using the shield for support I soar into the air using its strength to open the skeleton's defense, my sword raised in the air like a guillotine lighting up the dark room we're in, but I don't aim at the skeleton's skull to try and kill him in one blow. fatal, as would be normal for my style, but I'm sure this idiot's skull is too hard to crack with a single movement.
So, I aim for his wrist, my sword hits the hollow of the skeleton bones that connect his hand with his arm, and I rip out all the mana and elemental energy that holds his bones in place with my lightning element.
As the skeleton sword falls, I also land against the ground in an unglamorous or unsafe landing, a move like this only works on a slow dumb enemy like an undead that isn't very smart. Any warrior wouldn't have fallen so easily into a desperate, off-balance move like this or they wouldn't have jumped at the chance to take me down after I landed without much support.
But this skeleton just stared at me like a statue, I think he's still processing the fact that he lost his hand and weapon so quickly.
I advance against the skeleton's shield to not give him the chance to go on the offensive again, using my fist I push his shield back and to the side, but the skeleton remains firmly in its position, only its shield has moved back a little further and enough that my sword could easily hit the skeleton's shoulder.
Unfortunately, I needed more than a stroke of luck to be able to cut the mana and elemental energy that held the skeleton's arm close to its body. I might not be able to see Volkan's face but I can hear his surprise and even a little cheering as I dismantled the skeleton in an unusual way.
Skeletons are difficult enemies for swordsmen as their bones are very hard and more likely to break than cut in half. Maces and war hammers are more effective at destroying the bones of a skeleton, but I have a better way.
By targeting the joints between the bones, I can avoid the hardness of the skeleton bones, but mana and death element are not easy to separate when both bones emit mana and elemental energy separately. To be able to break the link it is necessary for my aura to be able to block the mana from joining again, but this is not easy, otherwise skeletons would be considered the weakest undead against warriors.
But my lightning element has a good flaw counting the death element, not as good as the light or life element, but enough to affect the skeleton's mana and elemental energy plus kick his bones away to prevent him from trying to join his body again it helps a lot.
After losing an entire arm and his weapon the skeleton that started to get faster or simply started to 'think' faster wasn't too dangerous. Dodging a shield blow that would have knocked me backwards or the unsuccessful attempt to kick and bite me, the skeleton was no longer dangerous, but as its bones are still pretty hard, I would have had to take my time to finish it. to kill the undead normally.
But I wasn't alone or had much time to play with the skeleton, the moment my victory was assured, Volkan made his move partially buried the skeleton. This was the easiest and quickest way to finish the skeleton, using a hard rock as a blueprint to crush the bones of the skeleton would be too destructive, my fight already damages the furniture in the room a little, but Volkan's magic would probably break all around the skeleton.
Then bury the skeleton until it's defenseless so I can easily pierce its skull with my sword, and the most efficient scenario.
"Do you know a move like that isn't a good idea to use, Wolf?"
"It worked."
"Because you faced a punching and slow undead, a warrior would have been able to defend himself in different ways from that clumsy attack."
"But it worked on the undead, a move that specializes in dealing with the undead in an exact situation is no less effective just because in more normal scenarios it would be too risky or even considered suicidal. It worked, so it's fine, but it doesn't mean I want or will sweat that move again."
"Okay, but now that there are no more distractions, we have to finish scouring this room. We don't have much time to waste, and since we might end up encountering more undead or cultists on this floor, we better hurry up."
