The Attic of the house had nothing but broken wood that came from the damaged roof, but the floor tells me a really different story because of the element of death that is in the air of the house and being expelled by what's left of the undead made it hard to see that something hidden under the wooden boards.
Near the lich's body I started to remove the old wooden planks only to find dirt, but this is nothing more than camouflage with my eyes I can see the many objects hidden in the dirt. From their shape I can identify some of them without much difficulty as boxes and human body remains, it seems that the corpses of those who lived in the settlement before the red sparrow arrived were used here.
This explains the fact that he has already started using the cemetery as a food source, but what confuses me is the purpose of burying freshly dead bodies here. They don't contain a lot of death element energy because they won't rot enough which makes them good parts to use in creating new undead like zombies and lich, but not so useful for night eaters.
Maybe I'm seeing this the wrong way, corpses are not here to nourish or protect the materials of the element of death kept in boxes. It is the bodies that are being nurtured, perhaps to be used as food or material to strengthen your undead as he will be here for several months.
Now the scenario is making more sense.
While Taric and I removed the floorboards from the house so Volkan could excavate this house after the red sparrow was killed. The combat between the necromancer and our team came to an end with a brake that was so loud it felt like the earth was being split in two as when we heard it the whole ground shook together because of the strength of Mia's magic packet.
But luckily, I don't hear even a wave of deadly energy, I don't know what kind of clash it took to create such an event but I'm glad it doesn't seem easy to repeat these conditions. If it was easy, I would have found myself in a very difficult situation, now I can only hope Taric doesn't use my cry for help to make fun of me for the rest of the trip.
"The fight seems to be over; we better go there and look for Volkan to help dig up what the lich buried and then reassemble the wooden floor with impressive precision and quality. Raven will want to see for herself what kind of stuff is here and bury the dead in a way that they don't come back as wild undead.
"Do you think the lich did all this alone?"
"Of course, who else would do such delicate work. The other undead would have broken the normal wooden boards and thrown them on the floor, before we took the boards off the floor looked normal as if the last person to touch them was the victims of the red sparrow."
"But even if you're right, Wolf, would that be something useful for us besides serving as merit points for learning dangerous items?"
"As far as I've seen, it's very profitable to do this. Dangerous items may not be worth as much normally, but with the war looming the realm may not want even a dangerous and unstable element using this type of material as they can cause massive amounts of death when used properly, the realm may not have. a necromancer plus runemasters good enough to use the materials here to screw with the enemy army and the blame would fall on necromancers who seek to sow chaos."
"That seems kind of wrong."
"Well, our kingdom has the right to do that sort of thing in my humble opinion. I think we get a lot of credit for a lot of the kingdom's policies and I don't just mean the way we handle slavery issues. I doubt you have such a different opinion than mine or you wouldn't be on this team."
Memo not being able to see Taric's face through his closed helm I can tell he's smiling at my comment.
"You're right, but it's still best to avoid that kind of comment, Wolf, certain statements can always be used against you. I guess I don't have to remind you that there are some people on the team who don't like you and there may also be those who pretend to like you."
"Raven may have chosen the members for a variety of reasons, but that doesn't mean anyone among us might have a foot in a different faction than ours."
Our? Now I'm slightly confused as I'm not sure if Taric is talking about the faction my mistress is a part of. Which I also don't know the name in case she has some names besides the mistress's family name, but it's very likely that Taric is in the same boat as Raven which makes him believe that I'm in the same boat as them since Raven has a very obvious attitude of protecting myself.
Not wanting to get into details with Taric as it can only get me into trouble, I decided to go after Raven, but since it's a battleground that involves a massive amount of death element energy, I'd better take a purifier with me. As we approached the battlefield, we could both clearly see the power unleashed by the red sparrow's element of death.
Death mirrors throughout the environment even though it looks like it is starting to disperse I know this is a very slow process the energy of the death element is penetrating and spreading across the land after killing everything on the surface without someone actively purifying this region this settlement will be a place that brings death, even to green-core warriors and mages if exposed for a long period of time.
Even without asking for a luminous aura to cover my body and the environment around me, Taric created this sphere of light not only to protect me but to prevent the element of death from affecting his body as well. The air around us began to purify, but the speed of this purification was very small—most of the death element energy that was in the air was being pushed away by the sphere and not being purified.
It appears that Taric's light-element purifying properties aren't as effective as his ability to repel the unowned element of death. He is spreading the element of death quite efficiently; I think the kingdom will have to hire a priest or druid specialist in purification and restoration to clean this settlement.
If this spot is left neglected it will become a great spot to cultivate Death Element materials and wild undead, even after the bodies in the area run out of certain small or spiritual undead which are considered pests as they are weaker but capable. to do great damage to the environment can appear in this region.
I doubt the realm is interested in that kind of future for the region, wouldn't it be a popular development among the kingdoms or temples of the good gods which are quite popular, the very few places that are afraid to be allowed to develop materials of the death element in the realm and all of them are regulated and supervised by the temples.
And I doubt they'd be interested in letting a place like this become an 'elemental farm' as most of the materials and magical beasts that spawn here will be cultivated at the site of a massacre, and the properties of the materials will have a strong affinity for necromancy.
Ultimately most users of the element of death tend to have an inclination towards evil or neutral gods.
Under Taric's protection, the two of us arrived close to the group that had just killed the necromancer Raven, Mia, and Milena. Sean, who also has an orange core, seems to be out of the fight, but what surprises me is that the goat isn't here.
I think his life element should be enough to protect him and help heal the three combatants during combat. Taric hesitated to extend his light element, but seeing his reaction Mia motioned for him to continue his action.
The purifying sphere has been expanded to the limit that Taric should be able to do, now all five of us are covered in its elemental energy. But now there was also the element of death within that sphere, the dead body of the red sparrow was inside the dome and its element of death does not appear to be affected by the element of light.
"The difference in strength is very large, its elemental energy and at most capable of trapping the corpse's death element energy within it for a short period of time. Take care that your energy drains quickly, Light, it won't be easy to purify this corpse that damn necromancer has made extreme modifications to his body."
Really? The corpse is well covered by a torn cloak but it looks quite 'human' and I don't see anything other than mana and death element energy inside it, it's a very large amount but it doesn't look abnormal for an orange core necromancer.
