An eight-foot-tall monster swivels its claws at Sean who is completely on the defensive which is a rare sight, every monumental strike from the night devourer makes Sean recoil because of the ridiculous difference in brute strength.
Is that supposed to be the strength of a level three-night flayer? Sean may not be a strength focused warrior but he is well above normal for an orange core warrior, his fire element and aura are amplifying his body's physical power but he is still lacking a lot of strength to defeat the undead.
It took me a while to find the second night eater or what was left of it, Mia actually destroyed it the undead that is still 'alive' even though almost its entire body is charred. He's lying on the floor where there should be a house, but it looks like she wasn't able to resist Mia's destructive magic, only a few pieces of boards were left on the floor, the house disappears.
Undead like the Night Eater have regenerative capabilities, but the charred corpse doesn't seem to be capable of healing anymore. Taking away the element of death mixed with mana in the center of the undeath's chest which is the only sign of 'life' in his entire body which is disintegrating by the night wind.
A new explosion released a wave of wind impregnated with the element of death, I had to summon both my aura and my elemental energy on a grand scale to protect myself from the black wind that hit me full. My energy was being drained as the black wave passed through the settlement, when i recovered after the blast wind passed, i had less than a third of my energy i had to burn a ridiculous amount of energy to protect myself from the death element of the blast. red sparrow and I wasn't even his target.
I was really feeling disoriented after getting up to the point that I almost fell to the ground when I tried to walk, to my surprise the settlement wasn't completely destroyed by the wind in reality it basically doesn't look like it was hit by a destructive wave, it looks like the element death only affects living beings, not buildings.
The charred corpse I was analyzing before being hit by the red sparrow's element of death remained at the same level of 'dead' but his body had almost completely disintegrated the only whole part of him being his torso. All of that undeath's limbs have turned to ash, but is his core still alive of any use for that?
Is the necromancer capable of 'reviving' the undead? It would be nice if it was worth something to the realm, but I doubt the army will buy an undead since necromancy is basically forbidden in the entire realm, and the undead might end up dead after the red sparrow dies if its life is connected to the core of the undead.
I try to find the rest of the team and see Sean decapitating the night eater who now appears to be nearly four meters tall, what kind of magical beast did the necromancer mix in that night eater?
But with all of them dead, I can only see one enemy with the element of death still active which must be from the red sparrow since he's still fighting Raven, the massive combat between two orange core users seems to be deadly to someone of my level.
If I get hit again by the red sparrow's death element, I'm sure I'll pass out at best, I start running towards Taric the light element with the purification attribute is my best chance of surviving.
When I enter the house where we face the two black armor and the lich, I see Taric still purifying what's left of the melted armor that protected the bodies of the two undead. It seems he didn't notice that the undead are already dead, I approached him.
"They are already dead."
"The undead are abnormally resilient, Wolf, our leader has made it very clear that we must completely destroy the undead. There is still a lot of armor to be destroyed here."
"This undead is a type of wraith that stays inside the armor and it's not the metal armor, these two undead already died when their light pierced the entirety of the metal armor. There's nothing there but metal that's been contaminated by the necromancer and melted by fire."
Taric stopped radiating his light element on what was left of the armor and poked it with his sword just to make sure there was nothing 'alive' there.
"He's dead, but I have to ask you a favor."
"Something happened? Are the undead still fighting?"
"No, they're all dead, but Raven is still fighting the red sparrow and the others must be going to help her. You wouldn't help me much there, but you would help me a lot here."
"With what?"
"Protect me."
"For real?"
"Weren't you hit by a wave of the element of death a while ago?"
"Yea."
"Well, I had to spend almost all my energy to protect myself from her and I still feel like my body was damaged by the element of death, I wish you would use your elemental energy to purify my body and if you see another explosion, you can extend your defense on me, it would be really embarrassing to be taken down by the enemy who is not even trying to kill me."
Taric released a wave of light against my body while I was still talking to him, at the moment I said that I believe he was affected by the element of death he was already trying to heal me. Nice guy.
Taric's light element doesn't have many healing capabilities, but I still felt more energized as I was purified by his light and the tired feeling that was over my body disappeared. The death element leaving my body didn't have enough time to physically damage my body, but studying my current body I'm sure it would be capable of taking my life if I wasn't treated within a day's time.
"I think every element of death that entered your body has already been purified, Wolf. The element of death that passed through the house didn't seem that strong. Are you sure he was the cause? Maybe a wraith has to attack?"
"Not even a living wraith, the red sparrow's element of death must have some property that pissed me off but it has no effect against your cleansing light, it's not that strange that I'm affected by it and you aren't. So, try to make a light shield in case there is another attack like that."
"Okay, and just stay close to me, more to make sure nothing bad happens and we better stay further away from the battle?"
"No need to leave, their fight will soon be over."
As if to prove I was right, a new burst of sound rippled through the room, but from the kind of sound it sounds like the red sparrow was hit by Mia.
"We'd better spend the time searching the house, the lich may have been here a little while but I doubt he wasn't on some errand for his master. Raven made it very clear that if a lich were here, he would probably be the necromancer's assistant."
"He is sure? Any object used by necromancers has a lot of death energy hidden inside them, if you touch one of them you could end up being seriously injured. You said yourself that the red sparrow's element of death was dangerous for you."
"I'm not an idiot, I'm not going around touching every object in the house to see if one of them can kill me. If you need something touched, I'll ask you to do that, the only problem with your light element is that you might end up destroying the death element material or necromancer's tool. So, use your energy to protect yourself and not damage any possible valuable objects."
I started to investigate the house for the lich's corpse, unlike the other two undead his body is more intact or that's what I imagined when I got close to him, I was surprised with what I found. I thought Milena would have destroyed the lich's head with her arrow and that's why he died completely as the head is one of the lich's strongest points, without a whole brain there's no way a lich could be so intelligent.
Looking at the lich's neck I saw that the fire element didn't just cauterize his neck but penetrate even more into the lich's body, his entire spine must have been melted when Milena's arrow destroyed his head. She must have done this to make sure the lich wouldn't be able to 'revive', with her spine completely destroying it I doubt it's easy for that body to function again.
I didn't find anything other than some common tools on the lich's body, some knives, some common death element materials, and a medallion that appears to be some sort of magical tool, but as it appears to be level three it shouldn't be anything very valuable.
"Anything interesting about the lich?"
"A locket but not the need to purify it appears to be a magical tool, but it does not appear to be a death element magic tool."
I started looking around for anything that contained mana or elemental energy.
