Chapter 345 - Slaves. (2)

When the light element mage pretended to be sleeping, I made an attention sign to Ana who was next to me, I thought she was going to kick the mage to make her 'wake up' but she didn't she took out a new tool magic.

Ana is indeed armed with an arsenal of magic tools; the new magic tool is shaped like a silver rectangle that upon activation released a cloud of mana and earth elemental energy. A barrier formed by this fog covered both of us and the prisoners, I only had to look at this barrier once to know that it had no defensive power at all, but when we were covered by the barrier, I couldn't see the rest of the room very well.

When I turned to Ana, she already had a black cube in her hand that released several sound waves that should be able to prevent anyone from hearing the interrogation, all the team leaders received a very large set of magic tools because they are leaders of the teams. elite teams or this is standard in kingdom army.

After everything was ready, Ana crouched in front of the light element mage.

"How long are you going to pretend you're still passed out? Don't force me to be violent, I don't like being violent, but if I start being violent during this interrogation now, I'm only going to get worse with every question I ask you."

That's a very original threat, first time I've seen this interrogation technique. The mage who shivered when Ana floated with her only took angus seconds to decide that getting up would be the best option.

When the mage got up, I noticed that one of her eyes was turning purple, did Ana really hit a healer in the eye? Is this cruelty and how did she do it? When she should have been holding a shield and sword, did she kick the healer in the face?

"Hi Sleeping Beauty, I have several questions for you. How about we start with an easy one, where is your boss now?"

The mage froze when she heard Ana's question, but to my surprise she just shivered a little and started to answer Ana.

"He's been picking up a batch of materials here, from what I hear we have a buyer on that side who is after some materials for alchemists."

"Materials for alchemy? This kind of material wouldn't be for making poisons on a large scale, would it?"

"I don't know, I'm just a hired healer, I'm not part of the decision-making circle."

What a lying bitch, ever since a healer would agree to work temporarily for smugglers looking after slaves in mine from a base in the middle of nowhere. What kind of idiot does she have to be to think this is a good idea or a good lie to fool someone?

"Serious? If you weren't from the inner circle, how do you know he's been bringing merchandise to alchemists?"

"This isn't important information; I'm stuck at the base so I can't use this information to harm them."

She doesn't appear very young; she can't survive that long being that stupid. So, her ability to lie is pretty bad, but how to get her to talk without resorting to too much destructive force?

The more mistakes she makes covering up her lie the more correct information we will have, if we go straight to torture the information we get, it could end up being a lie created just for her to escape the pain.

"Don't lie now, and ugly lying is doing that is going to piss me off. And after I get angry, I'll end up having you suffer a lot, you don't want that, do you? Tell the truth now."

The healer turned slightly paler making the purple in her eye even more prominent.

"I don't know who's buying the stuff or what kind of stuff it is, I swear. This is resolved by boss Mitus and Keni."

Keni?

"Who's this Keni?"

"He was the leader of this hideout; he handles base logistics and commercial operations."

"Is Keni one of those two behind you?"

"No, he was upstairs he doesn't like the slaves so he hardly ever goes downstairs. He wears greenish leather armor and a spear; he has brown hair he must know all of Chief Mitus' plans."

Fuck, we killed the base's best intelligence source. What bad luck, we can blame two psychopathic idiots who killed everyone in this room.

"You said he handles the logistics of the base; does he happen to have any written records?"

"Yes, he has a journal that he carries with him, but it's a journal protected by runes that will explode if you try to open the journal. You have to make him pour his aura into the diary to unlock it, see I'm fully cooperating you can let me go, I'm just a healer I didn't kill anyone or commit a crime on my own."

Is she really too scared to die or knows her boss is working with cultists, I thought Ana would threaten her saying she will be handed over to the church to be interrogated and purified, as far as I know Goddess Helena's church has a special flame to purify in this kind of situation, it burns very slowly and painfully.

As far as I know the flame can burn someone for several days before killing the unlucky one who falls into the hands of the church.

"Go get the diary, Wolf, the idiots must have looted the bodies of the dead, but if you can't find the diary, go look for the dead and then the entire base. I want this diary in my hand unlocked, today!"

"OK."

I got out of the barrier I heard Ana asking where they got so many slaves from. The room was already clean in the sense that the bodies are no longer here, the room is still very dirty with blood.

Quinn or Carmilla would be the best person to clean up all that blood and guts. Whole dirt or washing it off would be the best option, it's not like there's a lot of places for the dirt to be washed off, maybe the two working together will be better.

I make my way up the stairs to find End in the cabin.

"Where is the rest? And where were the bodies thrown?"

"They're burying them outside the cabin, I'm taking a look at what's inside the cabin."

Escaped from work.

"You can go to the third floor and help watch the slaves; they might be in need of help there."

After a really loud sigh, Fim descended the stairs. Was this some kind of protest?

By the time I found the rest of the team they were just dumping the body parts into a wide, shallow grave. I was lucky, if it had taken longer, I would have had to dig up the body parts.

"You can stop now! We have to find a diary that should be with one of the spearmen, he must be the only one with the greenish leather armor, but to be sure we must search every corpse for any item that is highlighted."

"Really?"

"Why?"

"Because you don't try to guess, Vanguard. Hurry up and help me find the diary, hope we find it or we're all screwed, especially you and Water, Shield is pretty annoyed with you two and it's only getting worse and worse, without the diary you'll be even more screwed."

"Isn't that a little over the top?"

"No, Light. These two really screwed up this time and their best chance of redeeming is finding the diary."

I took a good look at the pit which was full of body parts and gave off a very strong metallic smell, I really hope the diary is easy to find. As I jump on the bodies, I'm knee-deep in blood and turn to the two idiots still upstairs.

"What are you waiting for?! Come down here and help me!"

Greenish Armor, Greenish Armor, I thought more or less. I found a waist that must have belonged to Keni and that means that even if the diary isn't around his waist because it would be weird if it did, the chance that the diary is in one piece is pretty good.

If he is cut in half by one of the two idiots, his chest, which should be a good place to keep a diary, should be intact.

"Search fast! I don't want the diary to be dipped in blood."

When I was looking for the rest of Kevin's body, I found a small pocket full of mana crystals that only stood out when I used my aura on my eyes. These idiots haven't really tried to do a decent search on the bodies of the dead, they're wasting money out of laziness.

These crystals must be worth a few hundred gold coins, they are quite pure. The mage who must have gathered them together to use them in some sort of training.

"I found!"

I looked back and saw a clean diary in Abel's dirty hand. I went to him and took the diary and got out of the shallow grave, but before the two of them could leave I interrupted them.

"You haven't finished scavenging the corpses."

"But I found the diary?"

"Yeah, I found a bag full of mana crystals. These corpses may have several valuable items or some clue as to what the smugglers were doing, keep looking for them before they start to stink."

I left the two behind and went to clean up, for the layers of rune arrangements this diary has I'm going to have to spend some time to unlock it.
