Chapter 12 - Glass hearts

As we walk around with our hoods up and frowns on

We dance around our glass hearts and hateful words are dodged like bullets.

Our scars are unknown and silent screams inside our rooms.

Knowing we listen as we give our glass heart to someone we know will shatter it.

But we watch as they chip us piece by piece

Knowing we'd still forgive them and do it again

But I'm getting tired of you smashing this glass heart

So I shall place it in a box and bury it 6 feet deep

Mark it with the stone that says

"Here lies my glass heart,

I gave it away and it got destroyed by the only one who could ever fix it"

I'll be placed in this box with my glass heart in my hand ready again to give it away.

Fully aware that all you'll do is Shatter Me More.

I have a few pills that I could take.

It'd break my heart

But that's okay.

Because everything would stop,

And I won't feel a thing.

As I slip into a deep sleep no one can awake me from.

My glass heart will be covered with dust and my mind at rest.

Never to crack and never to speak.

No; I'll crack someone else's glass heart as you destroyed mine.

Placed it in your hands but you were clumsy and dropped it instead,

down ten flights of stairs so I gathered the pieces and glued them together.

Placed it on my pillow and found a loaded gun in my mind.

I used my words but they slowly killed me.

And here you are just in a black tux staring at my grave,

Thinking you should have at least tried to save me but you didn't.

And now I'm gone.

You wonder if you should have responded to my 3a.m. texts of help.

Next time someone texts you at 3 in the morning;

Answer because you might just save a life.
