THAT NIGHT
IN THE APARTMENT
The crying sounds of the baby echoed and the lights of the room were still switched on. Linda woke up rubbing her eyes and hastily went to the baby's cradle to attend to the crying boy. Taking it into her arms, she started to tiredly sing a lullaby to coax the boy back to sleep but the boy cried on and on. It was the fourth time, that the baby woke up crying and every time it became only harder to coax him back to sleep. It was as if the boy was not wanting to let his mother sleep tonight. Nora also woke up occasionally to help Linda with warming the milk and trying to coax the baby back to sleep. But eventually, even Nora failed to coax the baby, no matter how many times she warmed the milk and tried to feed the baby. It worried both the mother and Nora. Somehow, it seemed like Linda vaguely understood about the condition, but she couldn't share it with Nora.
