Shirou felt a familiar feeling.
Didn't I just die? I don't understand.
Confusion. Desperation. These feelings began to overflow, as he struggled to comprehend the events that had just conspired.
His face contorted, and he felt something welling up from deep inside him.
"Calm down."
It was a familiar voice. A sound so relieving, he almost crumbled under his own weight. He leaped at her, falling to his knees and wrapping his arms around her.
"Sakusei…"
His eyelids grew heavy, and he found himself struggling to keep his eyes open. He began to slump over, passing out.
"It's all okay now…"
It was very faint, as his hearing had almost completely faded, along with his sight.
"Shirou…"
"...Hey, wake up…"
He heard a voice interfering with his deep sleep.
Is it you? He tried to say to the voice in his head, to which there was no response
I guess not.
He felt consciousness drawing near, and his eyes focused onto the ceiling above him.
"Sakusei…"
"How do you know my name?" She was sitting next to him, an questioning look on her face.
Shirou tried to ask her what she meant, but his mouth moved against his will.
"I had you confused for someone else."
He continued to try to speak, but the words only resonated in his head.
"I need you to go along with this." It was the voice inside his head.
What did you do to me? Shirou asked, fairly unaffected.
There was no reply.
Their fake conversation continued, as Shirou was forced to submit to whatever power had taken over his body.
"Anyways, you should take a shower and get dressed. I want to take you somewhere."
"...Have you met me before?" The words came out suddenly, as Shirou was able to speak again.
Sakusei gave him a strange look, and then started laughing. A familiar scene.
"You're a strange one. We must have, as you know my name."
Shirou stood in front of a mirror, just like he did before.
What's the point of this? I'm supposed to have been killed.
He braced himself, expecting his head to begin aching, but it never came.
Shirou had never felt this new emotion that consumed him. It was like a dark mass had begun to slowly devour his body. Hopelessness.
I just want answers. Please help me.
There was no reply. He stood there, staring at himself for what felt like hours.
Sakusei and everyone else I've seen can smile. So why can't I? Why does my reflection look so...fake?
A loud knock on the door jolted him out of his thoughts.
"What's taking so long?" Sakusei yelled from outside the door.
Shirou hurried to put his fresh clothes on, and went to meet Sakusei outside the door.
The day continued on identically as before. They traveled for about an hour, and would arrive in Tokyo. Shirou had begun to pick up on the events that he had gone through. He was killed, brought back to life, and forced to relive this day, but he was still just as clueless as to how it had happened.
This caused him a terrifying thought.
Does that mean we're going to die tonight?
Shirou felt a familiar feeling, but still was unable to convey his emotions.
"I don't think this is a good idea. We are going to die."
Due to his lack of emotion or experience with talking in general, he sounded extremely robotic.
Sakusei started giggling.
"What are you worrying about? We'll be fine," She said in a nonchalant type of voice.
As they got closer and closer to Tokyo, the feeling of desperation in his chest grew larger and larger, to the point where he felt like he was going to collapse. Yet he showed no signs of emotion.
He desperately wanted to tell her of their fate.
She won't believe me.
He has to tell her.
I can't explain.
They'll both die if he doesn't.
What's wrong with me? I can't even do such a simple thing.
Anger. It spread all over his body, like someone had just poured hot water on him.
He was angry at himself.
Why am I here? What's the point if I can't save anyone?
He reached as far back as he could, searching for that voice in the back of his head.
Please… If you're there, help me.
"Shirou…" She said quietly.
He looked up at her. There was something that caught his eye for a moment. Her lip was quivering, even if it was just for a second.
Shirou blinked, and she was smiling again.
"We're here!"
The sight of the city was still just as mesmerizing as before. The multicolored lights still reflected into the night sky, and the crowds of people still walked throughout the streets.
This is where I'm going to die again, Shirou thought.
His expression didn't waver, or rather was physically unable to waver.
He began searching the crowds, looking for anyone who could possibly be the assailant of their murder.
Frustration, anger, desperation. All of these emotions flowing through his immature mind. He felt something welling up, much like he did after he woke up in the alley.
Anything, I'll do an-
"Hey!!"
A voice interrupted his thoughts.
Shirou turned around to see someone running after them.
This is it. We're going to die.
