Listen to Baila Conmigo by Selena Gomez ft Rauw Alejandro
"Hahahahaha..." Sam continued to laugh
"And you did what"?! He hilariously asked
"I tased the guy". I replied
"And made him walk naked" he continued to laugh, this time around even louder, to the extent he sat on the floor.
"You're crazy, you know that right". He said and continued to laugh uncontrollably
Sam brought me a box of chocolates this morning as a peace offering and I accepted it. He is my best friend, I can't be mad at him for too long and one night is long enough, plus I shouldn't have stolen.
"You know you are welcome to roll on the floor if you want to right". I sarcastically said
"Ew, you haven't swept or mopped this place in ages". He replied and stood up immediately
"Ah ah that's why I said you should roll on the floor, assist a friend, after all what are friends for"
He looked at me with a very straight look, he needn't say any word for me understand. I burst into laughter.
"I love you too Sam".
"Mm-hmm". He replied sarcastically
"I know you love me too". I said in assurance
"Don't get confused. I can never love your crazy ass"
"Ouch Sam, but what do you expect, I'm a black woman, it's in my D.N.A D-D-DNA and I just take my breath away, b-b-breath away ". I remixed DNA by little mix. I'm a huge mixer.
"Tell me something" Sam stated
"Yeah what"? I asked with curiosity
"Why did you steal from Mrs Macburry? I mean you could have just come to me. We're friends Nancy and I'm always gonna be here for you".
"You weren't around and I had a long day and I needed food and water to drink and to wash my face and I had no money. I wouldn't have stolen anything if she wasn't a total bitch and refused me".
"Nancy listen to yourself! She gets to be a bitch, that's her source of livelihood. Hers and her family's'".
"I know and I feel so guilty but I can't return them now or go pay for them, she'll definitely turn me over to the police, and with a record like mine, it won't just be community service".
"With a record like yours"? He asked with so much Interest and curiosity.
I took a deep breath and released through my mouth like I was thought in meditation class and replied "brace yourself, this is one hell of a story".
"I went to juvie. I was 14 and myself and two friends in foster care snuck out for some fun and stole a car. The driver, Peter, he was 17, hit an old homeless lady. We didn't know what to do, we were just kids and so we ran away. The next morning the police was at our door. We all had a trial and Peter got 16 months for involuntary man slaughter and another 12 months for inexpensive car theft. Myself and Lucy got 18 months, 8 months for being accomplices to involuntary manslaughter and 12 months for car theft. I was 16 when I got out so I went back to foster care".
"What happened to Lucy and peter"?
"Lucy died in juvie. She got poisoned".
"Why though"?
I shrugged. "It baffles me to this day".
"And Peter"?
"I don't know, never searched for him. He would have been more than 18 years when he got out of jail, so he had no business in foster care".
"And you never thought to search for him"? His eyes became judgmental
"No sam, I didn't. The past is in the past, it makes no sense to dabble into it, besides Peter was a bad influence then. A leopard never changes its spots".
"That's not true! The pasts is what shapes our future and people do change".
"Not for me and I don't believe that nonsense"
"What happened to your parents"? I looked up at him like he passed his boundary, which made him promptly add "if you don't mind me asking"?
"Date night, car crash. They died on the spot and I was with a nanny. To answer your question before you ask, "no one took me in, not my dad's friends or mom's and the bank took all their properties based on a loan they had taken" I said impatiently.
"Wow. I'm so sorry Nancy"
I scoffed "it's okay. Do you care for another beer"?
"Totally".
"Can I ask you something"? I turned around and raised an eyebrow. "I mean I'm just curious".
I cocked open the beer and replied "shoot".
"Did you finish high school"?
"Yeah why do you ask"?
"You know I work in Manhattan and there's always posters or ads about job opportunities and...." he paused.
"Thank you Sam, I really appreciate it. And before you ask why didn't I go to college, I did, got kicked out"
"What happened"!? He exclaimed
"The dean's son took an interest in me, well it was a mutual interest and one day we were studying on the roof top and he legit tried to rape me" I paused because reliving all this hurtful memories was starting to get to me".
After a moment I continued "I filed a report against him, then one day the police was at the school and I was magically found with heroine. The case died down after I went to jail for 6months for possession of drugs and I got expelled".
"Shit Nancy, your life has been one hell of a rollercoaster. I'm so sorry". He stared at me with so much sympathy.
"It's alright Sam. Life can be a bitch sometimes. it's just an extra bitch to me so cheers up and wipe that mopey look off your face". I raised my beer for cheers.
There was a weird silence for a while like he didn't know what to say and didn't want to say the wrong thing or ask me anymore questions because he didn't know how I'll feel.
"You better finish that beer, I'm almost done with mine. You don't want to be lagging behind now do you"?
He chuckled and replied "of course not"
He chuckled out loud and I turned to him and asked, "something funny"?
"You tased the guy" .
I rolled my eyes and stood up going to my window, I like looking at the city through my windows, it gives me a sense of clarity.
"Do you know what gave satisfaction"? I asked him while leaning on the window wall.
"What"? He replied. "No no no... don't tell me. Him going out the building naked" he added and laughed
"No... I mean yeah. That gave me about 5% satisfaction". I chuckled
"So what did"?
"Revenge".
"Re...venge"? He asked
"Yes revenge". I replied.
I turned around to look through the window, was silent for a moment, then I spoke "now I know just what I have to do".
